Obtained room on Feb 13 for $135 plus taxes at Waldorf Hilton. As I'm a Hilton Honors Gold VIP managed to get an upgrade to a deluxe room. This was an excellent rate as many hotels were charging alot higher price due to Valentine's. I noticed that following my purchase, the hotwire rate went up to $235. The Waldorf is in an excellent location for Covent Garden (theatres, restaurants, etc) - although the tube is a 5-10 minute walk. Breakfast is very expensive - room service was
Its definately in Notting Hill - Bayswater area (its nearer to Shepherds Bush than Notting Hill) as I won the hotel when adding the above area thinking that there were only 3* hotels in that area as per pinned hotel list!
to Willtravel, It was the Hilton Kensington. The hotel was great as I was upgraded due to being a gold member of Hilton honours. The location was no issue to us as we had a car. However, if you're expecting a central london location - this is not the hotel for you. But if you're Ok with using the tube (Holland Park on the Central line), this might be a good low budget choice.
Thanks - I'll know better now when bidding for hotels in London. I wouldn't recommend the Hilton Kennington as a central London location (its nearer Shepherd's Bush than Notting Hill) but I suppose that's why I got a good rate!
4* London Hilton Metropole I was successful in booking the above hotel through priceline for GBP38 ($68). Bidding: Bid GBP30 Mayfair/Soho rejected offered hotel for GBP51 Bid GBP35 Added London Bridge Bid GBP38 Added Notting Hill - won Hilton I was surprised as I thought there were no 4* hotels in Notting Hill area & previously the Hilton Kennington has fallen with Kensington area. However, I'm happy with the price.
