  1. Another South Bay Area "Bust" based on the available hotels -- was looking for the Best Western Plus Silicon Valley Inn based on the amenities and 2.5* listed on Betterbidding -- but can't beat the price. I worked my way from $120 to $190 at the 3.5* level and got shot down each time; decided to just go with a 2.5* Priceline Express and get it over with at $125. Ended up with the Quality Inn and Suites Sunnyvale. Amenities: Free Breakfast Free Internet (in Room) Free Parking Outdoor Pool Non-Smoking Gym Handicap Accessible Business Center This hotel is not on the Better Bidding list of hotels, so if someone could please add it perhaps it will help someone in the future. Reviews seem to indicate it is newly renovated so perhaps that is why it is showing as 2.5*. Given that Priceline lists 2.5* as "Holiday Inn Express, Best Western, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Fairfield Inn, Springhill Suites", I have fairly high expectations for this place relative to other Quality Inns I have stayed at in the past!
  2. Got a new one to add to the list... right now the PRICELINE EXPRESS page here on Better Bidding shows Fairfield as the only 2.5* property. Was hoping for that but ended up with the Best Western Plus Executive Suites. The pictures make it look pretty dated, but it still beats most in the area for $125. Amenities: Free Breakfast Free Internet (In-Room) Free Parking Spa Non-Smoking Gym Business Center Incidentally, I tried bidding $100 for the heck of it and was offered the Best Western Plus Executive Suites for $123 on the "Sorry you didn't get it, but here are some options for great bidders!" page. I was still hoping for the Fairfield so I declined. Unfortunately didn't have time to play as much as usual due to it being a last-minute booking for work. Hope this helps someone!
  3. Looks to be the going price here. I tried $49 and was declined, and got it at $50 ($64.09 after taxes), much like others have posted. Advance rate is $74 on Doubletree's site ($83.90 after tax), for a savings of about 24%. Not great, but still about equivalent to rack rate at an Econo Lodge, so I'm not complaining.
  4. Started bidding at $45 for a 3* in Quail Springs. Three additional safe zones are available at 3* so I went $50, $53, $57, and got the Holiday Inn Quail Springs on the last attempt. Total after taxes $72.49. Rack rate appears to be $95.04 ($108.19 after taxes) for an approximate 33% savings (almost on the dot... hmm).
  5. Started working bids yesterday at 3* for $46 in Fenton. Added two other locations at $48 and $50 and never received any hits. Started today at $52 for 3*, then instead of going up and adding locations, added the 2.5* level, and immediately got Towneplace Suites By Marriott Fenton at $52. This hotel isn't even on the list, so we'll see how it goes. It looks like the hotel has Studio rooms as well as actual suites, so I'm guessing I'll be getting one of those. Total after taxes $68. Rack rate appears to be $89 for that night ($102.06 after taxes) for a savings of about 33%. Not bad for Halloween night, IMO.
