  1. Won with first bid. I thought I'd get the Marriott Bloor-Yorkville, but I'm very happy with this result! :) And of course, I used savingsbarn. :)
  2. Won with first bid! :) Total charges: $64.44 USD. And of course, I used savingsbarn link. :)
  3. Already completed this stay just the other night, but thought I'd share results anyway (so people can still see recent successful bidding history for this region). Used the PRICELINE link @ savingsbarn.com ...booked it rather last minute (the preceding Friday) :) Renaissance Fallsview Check-In Date: Sun, April 23, 2006 Check-In Time: After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, April 24, 2006 Check-Out Time: 11:00 AM Your Offer Price: $56.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $56.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $16.06 (US dollars) Total Charges: $72.06 (US dollars) First bid of $54 rejected, added free rebid zone and tried for $56. Got it. :) *edit: lowest advertised rate on website at the time was $100.30 USD.
  4. You brought up some excellent points, thereuare. I noticed that the cheapest flights available on Priceline have VERY inconvenient departure times and / or multiple layovers - whereas the Southwest flight to LAS is direct, and has only one stop on the way back. It probably would be the better option for me, because as you pointed out,..it's only $150 return. :-) Thank you very much for your help, regardless - I really do appreciate it!
  5. There you are, thereuare! hehe...that's probably an old one, right? lol. Anyway, I don't know how much I can expect to save by using PL for flights,...but I think a savings of at least $30 - $40 per person would justify the associated "inconveniences". Thus far, the SW flight is the most appealing option, as the flight to LAS is direct, and the return has only one stop (whereas the Orbitz options have slightly less desireable departure times and each have one stop). Would these savings be possible? Thanks for all your help. :-)
  6. I've only used Priceline a couple of times, and solely for hotel reservations,...but I've become fairly proficient at bidding (usually because I browse through these forums first, lol). Anyway, I'd just like a little help please for using Priceline for airfare bookings. :-) I'm looking at flying roundtrip from BUF to LAS, April 26, 2006 (Wed) to May 3, 2006 (Wed) [2 passengers]. I was able to find a really good fare on Southwest for $145.90 pp (after taxes). The best fare I could find on Orbitz is $109 pp ($153 after taxes), and that's only if I change my departure / return dates to April 25 - May 2 - which I don't mind doing. What price should I start my bidding at? Any strategies I should take note of? Thanks in advance. Any help is much appreciated. :-)
  7. First bid accepted. And of course, I used the savingsbarn PRICELINE link. :) Renaissance Fallsview Check-In Date: Sun, Jan 29, 2006 Check-In Time: After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Jan 30, 2006 Check-Out Time: 11:00 AM Your Offer Price: $55.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $55.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $12.41 (US dollars) Total Charges: $67.41 (US dollars) I should have probably started bidding at $50, since January is "slow season", but I believe this is still a good price for this property, as the hotel website's rate is $100.30 USD per night (after taxes). The $30 I save can go towards my "casino funds". lol.
  8. I used EasyClickTravel in January of 2003. I booked the Hotel Penn in NYC for 2 nights (2 adults). I had absolutely no problems whatsoever with my reservation, and there was no mention of easyclicktravel upon checkin. That was my first experience with ECT, and I wouldn't mind using them again in the future -- second choice to my new fave, Priceline! lol. Our hotel stay though was horrible..but that's a totally different story. But this was long before I became aware of tripadvisor and this board. :)
  9. Just got back from my weekend visit to Montreal. My friend and I stayed at the Days Hotel and Conference Centre (exact trip dates and PL bid history can be viewed here). It's only rated as a 2.5* hotel, and also run by Days Inn, so I wasn't expecting too much - just a decent place to sleep. First of all, the location is great, especially if you plan on spending a lot of time on rue Ste-Catharine. Great shopping starts just around the corner. Nightclubs are within what I would consider "walking distance" as well, but it was exceptionally cold during our stay so we took taxis. The hotel is also situation down the street from a Metro subway station. The rooms were decently-sized. Larger than typical standard rooms. One thing I found to be quite odd, however, was that the welcome mat, bedding and shower curtain were all SHREK-themed. lol. They had pictures of Shrek characters all over them. And I highly doubt we received a "children's room" or anything. In fact, the hotel did not have very many guests under the age of 30, or any families for that matter. The bathroom was a little small though. The heating was also lacking. Front desk clerks were all proficiently bilingual, and very helpful. They offered to call cabs for us, and always asked about our day upon our return. They answered all of our questions, and made our stay in Montreal very pleasant. Housekeeping adequately cleaned our rooms. My only complain is that they tended to come rather early - such as 9:30am! Overall, I wouldn't mind staying there again. But I've since looked through this forum quite thoroughly, and I wouldn't mind paying an additional few dollars to stay at a "nicer" hotel - now that I know it is possible to upgrade an entire star level via "smart" Priceline bidding! :) I also know now to use savingsbarn in the future! Thanks for all the helpful posts! :)
  10. Newbie here! My friend and I decided to take a last-minute trip to Montreal this weekend. I thought this was a pretty good price - the location of the hotel is absolutely perfect for us. I think I'll start frequenting this board now - and hopefully learn from the pros! :) Check-In Date: Fri, Nov 25, 2005 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Nov 27, 2005 Check-Out Time: 11:00 AM Your Offer Price: $45.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $90.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $18.74 (US dollars) Total Charges: $108.74 (US dollars)
