  1. In an ideal world we would like every thread to have a conclusion, so even if you post in the original thread "another member of our group book the trip before i had a chance to bid", that would at least give a conclusion to the thread and not leave future users wondering what you ultimately did for the stay, or if you tried and failed, cancelled the trip, or did have success but just didn't post the outcome.

I've merged the two threads so that others now know what ultimatley happened... if you do find out the winning bid info please add it to this thread and we'll edit the topic title accordingly to reflect the details of this stay.

    Thanks!

$952.84 for 4 nights and we got a room on 9th floor.

BTW where is your PRICELINE link.

  2. Hi there,

What happened was that after all my research, another member of our party did the priceline before asking me...He wanted to pay the trip... He just didn't know anything about better bidding.

I'm really sorry about that, as I wanted to go through your link. I don't have the details of what he paid but when I'm back home I'll get the info and post it.

BTW, they waived the resort fee charge...

P.S. I know and appreciate all the hard work you do for this site. I'll try to make it up to you and use your link on my next priceline flight... I fly every few months with priceline, so it won't be a problem.

  3. Thanks. Nothing like actually shopping to help you really understand what you're looking for. NY as a backup would work..but I'd say last resort. After using some of your tools and shopping around, I think I'd be willing to pay an extra $20 for the mirage or mandalay bay.

Also, I clicked on an adsense ad here and found a site that looks like their prices are good. But I have no idea if they are reputable. Have you heard of them:

Edited, this is weird, I went to AAA and did a hotel check and they gave me the same price.

  4. Hello,

I hope I'm doing this correctly.

I want two rooms in Vegas. Check in July 22. Check out July 26. Two people per room. Maximum budget is $100 per night. That's what I used to pay @ the Hyatt in Henderson before it was taken over by Loews.

I'd be happy to get a room in Henderson @ a Hyatt level hotel. But the Strip is OK if the hotel is 4*.

This does not need to be a priceline deal.

    Any advice? Thank you.

  5. Last question before bidding....

You were just in time! :)

I was about to bid and looked one more time :)

Is lowest price the most important factor OR would you prefer a higher rated hotel for a bit more?
I'd pay a bit more for a higher rated hotel.
If Cocoa Beach is less would you sooner look there first?

I don't know the area that well but from what I could tell, it's some 20 miles away which is totally acceptable...so yes, I'd be happy w/ Cocoa Beach.
  6. Why don't you do a Priceline search from their non-opaque product (which you did above to see local prices for these dates) and get a feel for the hotels offered at each star level.

Thanks. Good idea. 2* seems totally fine.

The Melbourne zone has hotels up to 3* while the North zone only goes as high as 2*.

So that means if the first bid doesn't work I can rebid, correct?

For the $69 price you quoted above, what hotel is that and what is the star rating? Is that property acceptable to you? (i'm not suggesting you take it, i'm seeing if this is truly a 'good' back-up plan to determine your maximum bid)

    It's a Super8 and 1*. Didn't notice that at first. I think Super8 should have decent beds. But I guess I'd pay the $79 for Quintas...So you're right $79 is max bid...

  7. Hello,

I'm still kind of newbie but let me see if I got things right. I need to have a maximum bid, correct?

I want a hotel for Melbourne Florida (there are 2 zones, melbourne and north melbourne) from the 16th to 20th.

So my maximum bid is $69 since I found two priceline hotels at that rate.

If possible, I'd like a strategy that includes an internet connection, but as I understand priceline, this would be hard....

Anyway, I'm last minute but would appreciate a strategy if you can help.

Oh, and am I supposed to tell you my winning bid right in this thread or somewhere else?
