Hi there,
What happened was that after all my research, another member of our party did the priceline before asking me...He wanted to pay the trip... He just didn't know anything about better bidding.
I'm really sorry about that, as I wanted to go through your link. I don't have the details of what he paid but when I'm back home I'll get the info and post it.
BTW, they waived the resort fee charge...
P.S. I know and appreciate all the hard work you do for this site. I'll try to make it up to you and use your link on my next priceline flight... I fly every few months with priceline, so it won't be a problem.
We did a priceline for Loews in Vegas and now they are charging a $15 per day resort fee. Is that allowed?
Thanks. Tried priceline for $80 for 4* henderson. Wasn't accepted.
Thank you so much.
We've finally decided that we'd go with the Hyatt in Henderson. The AAA price is $136. Any chance to get better than that at the Hyatt? Does Priceline even do hyatt now that they're Loews? You have an old thread on it...
Thanks. Nothing like actually shopping to help you really understand what you're looking for. NY as a backup would work..but I'd say last resort. After using some of your tools and shopping around, I think I'd be willing to pay an extra $20 for the mirage or mandalay bay.
Also, I clicked on an adsense ad here and found a site that looks like their prices are good. But I have no idea if they are reputable. Have you heard of them:
Edited, this is weird, I went to AAA and did a hotel check and they gave me the same price.
Hello,
I hope I'm doing this correctly.
I want two rooms in Vegas. Check in July 22. Check out July 26. Two people per room. Maximum budget is $100 per night. That's what I used to pay @ the Hyatt in Henderson before it was taken over by Loews.
I'd be happy to get a room in Henderson @ a Hyatt level hotel. But the Strip is OK if the hotel is 4*.
This does not need to be a priceline deal.
Any advice? Thank you.
Got to finalize so went w/ Expedia for $63 + $9 fee. @ Americas best value And $25 a day for Midsize car.
Damn....now they are only accepting check ins for the 17th...
I think I misunderstrood. Will try again.
Sorry I did:
Select 3* Cocoa Beach...Bid $50,
rejected
if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $55,
rejected
if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Cocoa Beach and re-bid zone2...
I got stuck on this one because I couldn't select 3*. Only 2* and less was available.
Zones 2 and 3 only have 2 star and below...shall I move right onto melbourne?
You were just in time! :)Last question before bidding....
I was about to bid and looked one more time :)
I'd pay a bit more for a higher rated hotel. Is lowest price the most important factor OR would you prefer a higher rated hotel for a bit more?
I don't know the area that well but from what I could tell, it's some 20 miles away which is totally acceptable...so yes, I'd be happy w/ Cocoa Beach. If Cocoa Beach is less would you sooner look there first?
Looks like I started the process too late. I guess I'll have to bid w/in half hour or so... I'll wait and see if soeone has a strtegy w/in that time, if not maybe I'll bid $60 for 2 stars..
And it looks like merrit/cocoaville is nearby too so I have another backup if I need to rebid...
Why don't you do a Priceline search from their non-opaque product (which you did above to see local prices for these dates) and get a feel for the hotels offered at each star level.
Thanks. Good idea. 2* seems totally fine.
The Melbourne zone has hotels up to 3* while the North zone only goes as high as 2*.
So that means if the first bid doesn't work I can rebid, correct?
For the $69 price you quoted above, what hotel is that and what is the star rating? Is that property acceptable to you? (i'm not suggesting you take it, i'm seeing if this is truly a 'good' back-up plan to determine your maximum bid)
It's a Super8 and 1*. Didn't notice that at first. I think Super8 should have decent beds. But I guess I'd pay the $79 for Quintas...So you're right $79 is max bid...
Yes, both zones are acceptable to me.
Also yes on June 16-20.
Not sure how they define stars but maybe if I explain what I'm looking for that would help?
@ a minimum, I'd like a clean bed...clean bathroom/shower...a decent TV wouldn't hurt but I can live w/o it for a great deal... So I guess 2*? Or 2.5* would fit that?
Oh yeah, I need a car too from Orlando airport :)
Edit: Do I need to give you a maximum rate for that too?
Someone told me they can reliably get a car from priceline for $16/day so let's say $18-$19 if you all think that's feasible?
Hello,
I'm still kind of newbie but let me see if I got things right. I need to have a maximum bid, correct?
I want a hotel for Melbourne Florida (there are 2 zones, melbourne and north melbourne) from the 16th to 20th.
So my maximum bid is $69 since I found two priceline hotels at that rate.
If possible, I'd like a strategy that includes an internet connection, but as I understand priceline, this would be hard....
Anyway, I'm last minute but would appreciate a strategy if you can help.
Oh, and am I supposed to tell you my winning bid right in this thread or somewhere else?
As a newbie I wanted to add your rss feed to my list of watched feeds on Sage (for firefox). Just an easy way to follow threads about cities that I travel to.
Can you please tell me the url to your RSS feed if you have one? I think IPB offers this.
