  1. This makes a lot of sense. Even if we're three blocks from the university, we'd probably take a cab.
  2. I should have said. Yes, I'm searching for two rooms for five adults. It's now showing at $375 when I search. Starting a separate topic to look for suggestions for this trip to see my niece graduate from Columbia. My 92 year old mother requires an elevator. Two sets of adults can share beds, but preferably if they're king size (and not sharing would be better). Pretty flexible on budget for the right property. Could do $1500 with tax for the two nights. Thanks!
  3. 4* Upper West Side NYC May 15-17 $326 Free internet plus Business center Children's activities Fitness center Kitchenette Self-service laundry Smoke-free rooms
  4. The Hotwire price on this property had actually gone down from the first time I looked at it, so I was delighted that my $166 Priceline bid for a 3.5* had not been accepted. I had the option to upgrade beds, and I went to a king for $159. I could have also gotten double queens for $188. Listed amenities are Pet Friendly, Business Center, Fitness Center, Smoke Free Rooms, Restaurant(s), Internet Access. Accessibility amenities are in-room accessibility, wheelchair accessibility.
  5. Well that was very interesting. Neither Priceline bidding strategy worked for me. But when I went back to Hotwire (using your link, of course) the price had actually gone down to 152, about $15 LESS than my last offer on Priceline. So I went and upgraded my bed size and still got the Park Plaza, this time with a King bed, for 159. I'll report that in the appropriate thread as well.
  6. Thanks so much. No luck on a 4* going up to 206. Will take a break and start tabulating my rebid zones for 3.5*
  7. Thank you. I can certainly stay anywhere within the Theater District zone. I would be delighted to stay below $200. I see that on Hotwire I can get what is presumably the Boston Park Plaza for 167 (plus the evil resort fee, of course), but if I can get a better hotel at that price, or that hotel at a lower price, I'd be happier. Otherwise I'll probably do the Hotwire. (and yes, of course I'll use the link). My target destination is the Boston Opera House, but I'll be with my 91 year old mother so we'll be taking cabs from wherever we are.
  8. I'm flexible on star rating, but need to be fairly close to the theater district. Looking for a proposed bid and bidding strategy.
  9. The price even dropped from 195 to 186 between the time of my inquiry yesterday and my purchase today. Total with taxes and fees for the two nights came to $480. Purchased through the HOTWIRE link.
  10. Yes. I didn't see it when I just searched UWS, but when I also filtered for 3 or 4 stars it showed up again. It also says 70% recommended and 33% off.
  11. The listed amenities are pet friendly, boutique, fitness center, pool, restaurants, self-service laundry, internet access and Priceline says the last person who picked this bid got the Empire. It's listed as 4* on the hotel list, but perhaps it's moved to 3.5? I promise to use the bidding links. If you don't hear from me it will only because I decided to stay at the Y instead.

  13. Amenities listed were free breakfast, free internet, pet friendly, suite, airport shuttle, fitness center, pool, business center, self-service laundry. 85% Hotwire recommendation. 4.5* on TripAdvisor. I used the HOTWIRE link.
  14. Thank you so much for all your help. I did use the sister site and made a reservation at Club Quarters, where I've stayed before.

Free Internet Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower My meeting is at 1050 Connecticut, so obviously some of the White House/Downtown choices would work as well.
  16. I am using BiddingHelper.com now, but obviously haven't figured out which clicks I should link through to find more amenities. Sorry :( . I'm seduced by the free internet, which is probably nuts because even at $15 a night I'd still be ahead with the 4 * and also hoping for a better location for my meeting, which is further south on Connecticut.
  17. Thanks. Now trying to figure out Dupont Circle, 3 stars, $111 Free Internet Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Accessibility Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel
  18. Thank you so much, Aaron. The $88 offer is no longer there (regardless of which way I go into search) but it looks to me like the one currently listed for $93 is the same one. I am probably missing something, but I don't see any additional amenities.
  19. I'm looking at a HOTWIRE offer of a four star property in the Dupont Circle-National zoo area for $88 (Nov 1-2). These are the details listed. Pet friendly Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Accessibility Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Do you have a guess? Thanks! And I promise to use the links when I'm ready to go ahead.

  21. I saw this go by on Hotwire and it was pretty clear it was going to be the Kitano. I checked the reviews on TripAdvisor and they were so enthusiastic that I was inclined to go for it. Because it would have been worth it to go somewhere else for a $40 savings, I tried a $145 Priceline bid, but when it was rejected I was happy to snap up the Hotwire offer. I believe I used the right HOTWIRE links because it is certainly always my intention to support this great forum.
  22. With all the airport taxes, this came to $135 for the four days. I could have met this price, or beat it by a tiny bit, going with an off-airport company, but the reviews I read of some of those discouraged me. Hotwire's lowest for an economy size at the airport was $36 per day, or $192 total. $21 was my initial bid, thinking I could rebid by moving down to economy, but it was accepted. I'm happy with the result, but of course wonder if I might have been able to beat it by a few dollars with a lower bid. I used the PRICELINE link. So glad to have this board.
  23. Amenities: Smoke-free rooms, pool(s), restaurant(s), laundry facilities (self-service). After looking at people's Priceline histories this weekend I decided to just grab one of the HOTWIRE offers. The Hotel Monaco would have been lovely, but a much longer walk to my meeting. This should work fine. Pretty sure I used the right HOTWIRE link. Thanks again for this great resource.
  24. I tried for $39 a couple of days ago but it was rejected and PRICELINE suggested I try $49. I chose to wait a day and split the difference. Success.
