I have been trying to get a 4* hotel in the SOMA - Moscone Center area for the week of November 9, 2014 (staying 5 - 7 days). My current bid is at $215 and no luck. My search strategies have been changing the days (e.g. Mon-Friday, Tue-Sat, etc. and also using rebid zones). I can't afford spending much more and was wondering if anyone had any insight as to what might be a successful bid? Thank you!
No, that is not my maximum bid. I have started the process and am up to $85 for a 3.5 or 4* in the Gaslamp with no success. I will be certain to continue using the links. Thanks for the help.
Just asking for some clarification since it doesn't seem that the hotels are broken down in the hotel listing. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for the offer...we had a funeral to attend and the bill was taken care of by a family member so we didn't use this. I appreciate the help.
Downtown and Gaslamp are two different zones available to choose when making a bid. It looks like the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is in the Gaslamp district, but most postings show it as "Downtown and Harbor Island". If I were shooting for this (I know there is no guarantee to get this hotel), would I choose Gaslamp or Downtown?
Any strategies to booking close to the gaslamp/convention center for late October (Oct. 17-19) for around $75/night? Thanks!
Thanks again for the help!
As long as you check those rebid zones just before each bidding session there should be no problem. Essentially, if one can't bid at a star level (or higher) there aren't any hotels available at that star level (or higher).
I did just check your list and it is still correct.

PS - if you happen to be bidding some other city and notice Resort at the bottom of the star list, do be careful. Resort falls between 4* and 5* so you could get upgraded to it when bidding 4* or lower. Pittsburgh doesn't have any resorts, but lots of cities/town in Florida and Hawaii do have that bidding availability. And there are a couple of sneaky ones people occasionally don't notice like Phoenix and Las Vegas.
THANK YOU FOR THE RESPONSE! I WAS WONDERING BECAUSE ONE OF THE AREAS (GREENTREE) HAS A DOUBLETREE (3*) LISTED ON THE BB WEBSITE FOR HOTELS IN PITTSBURGH. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU CLICK THE BOX, 3* IS NOT AN OPTION. I WANTED TO MAKE SURE BEFORE BIDDING. THANKS!
I'm looking for 3-star hotels in Pittsburgh, and noticed there are several re-bidding zones using the techniques as described on re-bidding:
Greentree - 2* and lower
Pittsburgh North - 2.5* and lower
Pittsburgh South Side - 2.5* and lower
West Mifflin - 2.5* and lower
I was wondering if I chose of one these areas with my 3* and higher bid, is there a chance that there is a 3* in any of these areas? I would really not like to say in these areas, but would just like to use them to re-bid. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the response. Not willing to reduce the star rating, but may be willing to look at other areas. Will continue to use the links! Thank you!
