I am hoping for a 2 1/2 star or higher. When bidding, I chose every area except Brooklyn, Long Island City, Coney Island and Harlem. Thanks for the info! I will definitely be booking a backup.
Planning a first time visit to NYC. I've placed bids over the last couple of days without any luck. I am on a budget and am hoping not to spend more than $200 a night. Is it true that it is better to bid last minute for NYC? If so, how many days in advance would be considered last minute? Additionally, I am not opposed to breaking up hotel stays. Would it be easier to get good deals if I were to do bids for 2 nights rather than 4 nights?

I have placed several bids over the last few days and most of the time will end up with "We're still working on your bid". After a few mintues I then click "check my status". Whenever I get the message, I feel a little hopeful but end up being denied. Are there any tricks to this such as waiting more than 15 minutes to have a better chance of getting accepted?
