I was unsuccessful at Folsom zone with $43 for 3*, then I added RC zone and bidded at $44 for 3*. I definitely overbidded (by less than $5?), since the hotel web site list $79 AAA rate. It is still a godd deal and I won't complain.

As usual, I started the bidding using the PRICELINE link.

For this wine country getaway, I was unsuccessful in zones around Santa Rosa and Napa up to $50 for 3* and $46 for 2.5*. So I moved to the Vallejo zone. When my first offer of of $42 for 2.5* was met with "If you raise you bid by $15, we will give you another chance immediately", I knew I was close to a deal, so I rebidded at $44 for 2.5* by adding the "North Napa" zone and was accepted. The AAA rates on the BW web site are $90 for non-somiking rooms and $81 for unspecified (smoking?) rooms.

As usual, I started bidding using the PRICELINE link.

  4. Car daily rate - Hotwire hot Rate: $13.95

    Rental days: 7

Tax recovery charges and fees: $75.43

    Subtotal: $173.08

Something strange happened. Last week, HOTWIRE had full-zide at $13 per day but with a high fee and tax, total came as $220 per week. So I was working on priceline, and unsuccessful at $12 /day. But today the total of $14/day came up as $173 per week, it is cheaper than $13/day at PRICELINE if my bid were accepted.

I started shopping using the HOTWIRE link.

Unlike Courtyard, Fairfield Inn quality vaires with property. But this is one of the best Fairfield in the nation. I've been here before, and I prefer this one to Courtyard, because this one offers excellent breakfast and coffee.

The region from Santa Barbara to SLO is not known for good hotels deals. I was no luck up to $50 at 2.5* in SLO and neighboring zones, PL quoted an average rate of $99 for 2.5*. When my offer of $42 for $2.5 was rejected, PL kindly offered me a free rebid at $55. Since I am an experienced Pl bidder, I knew that I was a few dollars away. This the third week (and final days) that my out of town friends are staying here, because they like the accessibility to light rail and other public transportation options. This couple prefer to sleep on separate beds. The front desk staff were very accommodating to their request of two-beds, upper floor and away from traffic, they never treated Priceliners as second class citizens.

As in the previous weeks, $45 for 3* did not work.

As usual, I started the bidding using the PRICELINE link.

My out of town guests enjoyed the breakfast here so much that they bugged me to reserve more nights for them. However, this Country Inn accepts PRICELINE only for Fri through Sun nights.

This hotel is quiet Sunday nights because they do not offer weekend rate through regular reservation. The regular rate is $145. It offers slightly better breakfast on Monday compared to the weekend.

I started bidding using the PRICELINE link.

  17. If you appreciate complimentary breakfast as me, this is the place.

The breakfast room is separate from the restaurant, but offers indoor and outdoor seatings.

There are two kinds of scrambled egss, properly prepared sausage and bacon. Two big jugs of juice, not the machine.

There is a gig bowl of freshly diced fruit medley, plus another bowl of apples and banana.

Of course, there is plenty of carbhydrate and caffeine.

BTW, we eat from real plates, cups and tools.

The hotel looks like a converted "Holiday Inn Classic." Therefore the room is acceptable, but nothing to brag about.

However, the hotel ground is spacious, the pool area is clean and sunny.

In summary, this is not a bad choice for a relaxed night before the busy day in the BIG CITY.
