  1. I have to admit I didn't think I would get a hit since it's the Jazz Fest weekend and a previous bidder didn't get any luck at $120 (but for multiple days though)....I would've started lower, but this works for me. First bid, four star, and the Millenium/Park/Loop only.
  2. I just booked a last minute getaway through Priceline, plus I used the SavingsBarn link. This was my first bid, with Downtown selected only. Your Offer Price: $44.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $88.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.68 Total Charges*: $108.68
  3. We're staying one night by the mall and one night downtown. The Mall win was the Sofitel, I posted that seperately. Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.32 Total Charges: $86.32 Unfortunately I did this one back in June and don't recall my bidding strategy. I know I started at 4 stars and $50, and then added a few zones, went down to 3.
  4. Started with just the Airport/MofA area at $40 for four stars and bumped it up accordingly with adding zones to $70...most of the zones in Minneapolis don't have four stars, so there's lots of rebid options. Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.32 Total Charges: $86.32 The best rate on their site is $89.99 with taxes and the like would've brought me to around $105. This isn't one of those insane Priceline deals, but $20 off is nothing to complain about.
  5. Called again on Monday morning, got a person on the phone who once again said "don't worry about it, I'll take care of it"....the charge was still on my account Tuesday night (I'm not demanding, but that's 10 days later and $145 isn't exactly chump change...crediting an account is an immediate transaction, like a charge), so I disputed the charge and lo and behold what just posted, an "account adjustment" (not a "credit" which leads me to believe my dispute is what got the money back). Though I did like the hotel, this definitely discourages me from booking there again as this wasn't one person's mess up, it was also two people not returning voice mails, two people saying "I'll take care of it" and then not, and a not to helpful operator.
  6. It has been a week since our stay, and the double charge is still on my credit card. Everytime I call the W hotel I am transferred to the accounting department, who do not pick up their phones, so I'm sent to voice mail. I've left three voice mails and no one has called back or taken care of the problem. I called again and explained what happened and the operator told me that the only people I can speak to about this problem is the accounting department. I'm not entirely sure what to do at this point.
  7. Did a last minute booking on Saturday for a hotel room. 4* W Chicago City Center Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet $129 + $24.40 (tax/fees) = $153.40 Not band considering the cheapest room through their site was $249. Though I now have a strange charge for $145 on my credit card from the hotel itself for the remainder of the charge, I talked to the front desk and she said it was fixed...we'll see.
  8. Ba-Woosh! I was a little nervous of getting something other than the Hyatt (though it would've been acceptable), but this is excellent. I just bid 4 star, O'Hare, first bid got it at $55. Hyatt Regency O Hare Check-In Date: Saturday, April 8, 2006 Check-Out Date: Sunday, April 9, 2006 Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $15.65 Total Charges: $70.65
  9. I am attending an event at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in April and plans are set in stone, so I figured I'd get a jump on and try to get a room (seeing as rooms recently went for $50). 4* O'Hare only: $50---no luck, but they offered me something for $14 more. 4* O'Hare plus Midway (no 4 stars at Midway on that date): $52--nope 4* O'Hare/Midway/Evanston (another safe rebid zone): $54--nope All of the other rebid zones have 4 stars available on that date. Perhaps I'll give it another few months, as I'm in no big rush.
