Got on first try. Hotwire showed a 2* for 52. The average price on various web sites was around $80+ for Comfort Inn. Most other hotels of similar quality was at least $65. Wanted to add that after checking to hotel's web site, it looks like I did not avoid the parking fees. $15 / night. :)

Tried 2 1/2 stars for both Manhatten Beach and Santa Monica with no luck. Added 2 1/2* for Culver City for $45 and was given free rebid if I bumped by bid to $58. Added Santa Monica for $52 and was accepted with upgrade to 3* Wanted to avoid LAX with all the parking fees. Culver City hotels are pretty close to LAX. I was initially trying to get Alexandria-Mt. Vernon or Crystal City. I started at 3 stars and worked my way down to 2 stars using a combination of bids for Alexandria-Mt. Vernon, Crystal City, and then Alexandria-Pentagon. I went up to $50 on Alexandria-Mt.Vernon and Crystal City at 2* before starting over using just Pentagon at $45. I went up to $62 on Alexandria-Mt.Vernon, Crystal City, and Alexandria-Pentagon at 2 1/2*. Based on all the web sites I visited, 10/6 (Thursday) is what made this a tough pull. I'm guessing all the business travelers are still in town. Hotwire had a big difference between 10/6 and 10/7-10/8.
