  1. Started with the PRICELINE link from this site. I was specifically targeting the Moonrise Hotel in the Loop. Bid a few times yesterday, only 4* in Forest Park/Clayton area, starting at $44. Stopped at $50 as I was tired. Tonight, started with $50. After a few rebids I was given the "one time" offer to raise my bid to $64 without changing any parameters. After that, I knew I was close. Just kept raising my bids by $2 adding the free rebidding zones. Bid accepted at $56 at the Moonrise Hotel. Very happy with this!
  2. Of course I used the PRICELINE link here. Started yesterday bidding specifically for a 5* Strip North Hotel. Started in the high 80s and slowly made my way up to around $117. At that point they suggested $142. I ran out of rebids at around $120. Continued today starting around $95. After bidding $117 they offered $142. I declined and continued inching upward. I was then offered $153. I passed and bid $130 and got the Palazzo. I'm quite happy with the Palazzo at that price, considering I've been shopping around and couldn't find anything close.
  3. Started bidding three days ago, using $60 as my starting point and making use of rebid options. Tuesday - I used Union Square West, Union Square East and Financial District and made it up to $66 (approx) with no luck. Wednesday - Only used Union Square West and bid from $62-$68 with no luck (offered one rebid of $17 more so I figured I was close) Today - Only used Union Square West and started at $65. Accepted at $69. 2 rooms at Parc 55 Used the handy PRICELINE link from your page. Thanks for the great site!
  4. It's a bit early, but thought I would try a few bids for the first weekend in February. I tried some super low-ball ones last week (all under $70) and got nothing. Today here is what I did (used the link on betterbidding to get me to PRICELINE :) ) All bids are for 4 stars USW $65 - rejected added USE $69 - rejected added SOMA $72 - rejected added Financial District $75 - rejected added Civic Center $78 - rejected added Marina $80 - accepted HILTON - Financial District (on Kearney) We've stayed there before and really like that property as it's 1/2way between Union Square and North Beach...and right below Chinatown. So, overall we are pretty happy with the rate. I've had lower before, but $80 is pretty good for SF. Happy bidding!!!
  5. I spent some time bidding on PRICELINE and got nothing, all the way up to $72/night. So I tried HOTWIRE (through your link!) and the following: $69 3 Star Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center Hi Speed Internet Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby I was pretty sure it was Seven Gables Inn so I went for it. And, I was correct. While the reviews aren't stellar, for $69/night it will work nicely for us.
  6. Hey there, Heading fora weekend in Vegas and surprised at the high rates for 7/25 - 7/27. I haven't done any bidding because I'm not exactly sure I'm sold on the Trump (in the 5 star range) and don't want the Westin. I was hoping to keep it at $100 a night, but could go up for the right place. Ideally, we want a nice pool as we are not big gamblers. Also, we'd like to be right on the strip, preferably close to Caesars (but that's not a deal breaker). The last time we were there we had to stay off the strip, so this time we really want the full experience. Checking Hotwire there is a 4* for $89 which I'm guessing is the Westin. I've checked individual websites and am not finding any great deals (although I can get a rate through a conference (doll collectors) for about $127 at Ballys). Any suggestions? We'd really love Mandalay, Bellagio, Venetian but those are well over $200. If I could get something there for approx $150 I'd do that too. Any suggestions? Any deals I'm missing? Why is it so high that weekend? Thanks! I'll be sure to use your links.
  7. After monitoring bids here and trying a few times in December, I had success today. Throughout December I was not having any luck bidding up to $80 for a 4* in San Francisco (using a variety rebidding options). This morning I tried: $72 for 4* USE - Rejected $76 for 4* USE/USW - Accepted at Hilton on O'Farrell. Not bad, although I really like the other Hilton (USE). Happy New Year!
  8. I have been bidding for the past two weeks, originally starting at $65 and moving as high as $85. Each time, I follow the following pattern: USW USE CH Civic SSF Most times I just add a $ for each bid, just for kicks. Today, I bid: USW $81 rejected, and suggested I bid $22 more USE $82 accepted Hilton on Kearney (great hotel by the way) Hope that helps. Good luck!
  9. Hey there, I just (as in 15 minutes ago) had a bid of $82 accepted at the Hilton Financial (USE) on Kearney for 12/29-1/1/07. I am stunned! I've been trying for about two weeks with no luck. In fact, I've bid higher before. I don't have all of my bidding history. But, mostly I've been starting around $75 or $80 and increasing by a dollar each time. I usually start with USW, then add USE. Then I'll add Catheral Hill and Civic Center and lastly South SF. I do not include Fisherman's Wharf. Today I bid $81 for USW. That was rejected but they suggested that I could rebid by adding $22. I declined and changed the zone, adding USE and bid $82. That was accepted. Go figure. The Hilton there is quite a nice hotel. I stayed there once before and was very impressed. I hope that helps a bit.
  10. 10/01 1 night I just had a bid of $115 accepted at the Hyatt on priceline. $100 was rejected so I went for $115. Seems like a decent deal.
