  1. Priceline, bid at CAD $118 for 3.5* +, was rejected, re-bid at CAD $126, was accepted. Of course I used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link. Respect the girth.
  2. Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, Self service laundry, Internet access, Kitchenette. That's it YellowDawg.
  3. So I thought about this a little more, and looked on the Hot.wire website for their star criteria. I really thought that this isn't worthy of a 3*, and doesn't compare to the brands listed, at least for North America. None of their rooms even have a Queen bed, just Double's. How's a dude supposed to get some solid action when he & she are squashed in a sardine can! Then I saw that on their website you can 'Chat with an associate', so I chatted with Kent, asked him if basil burns in the oven if you put it on pizza, and said my gripe about what I just booked. He gave me a phone number, so I got on the horn and called-up Hot.wire. The first agent I talked to was pretty useless, she tried to call the hotel to see if my room has a bathroom, and just got voicemail. She transferred me to someone else. The supervisor was a bit less useless. I gave her my 2-cents. She called the hotel also, got someone, but they didn't speak English. So she got back on the horn with me, and said that in some other listing that hotel is 2.5*, and she agreed that I'd get no action there from my fiancé, that it isn't worthy of a 3*, and that it doesn't compare with their other 3*'s that Hot.wire offers. So she gave me a refund on my credit card...... Score. Now I'll certainly be checking-out other options (Hotwire 3.5*'s or higher, and Price.line). But, now we know that the Auberge is listed as a 3* on HW, so it's not all bad I guess. And now I can get somewhere a bit nicer, get some action, and not be in the doghouse. All good.
  4. I messed up typing in the price in the title of this post, and now the incorrect price is also going to show up in the CalendarofWins I bet. My bad. It should be $86. My bad, obviously my brain box was shut off, or just missing....... Can an administrator change it (hopefully)?
  5. Hotwire, $86 (CAD) per night, 3*'s, displayed amenities were: Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, Self Service Laundry, Kitchenette. Total price for 4 nights (CAD) all-in is $433.81. This was listed on Hotwire as "46% off", however the rack rates for this hotel range from (depending on the room) $59 to $85, so I can't see how this is 46% off. We'll give it a try and see how it is, but by checking out the hotel's website I'm surprised Hotwire lists it as a 3*. Some of the rooms don't even have their own washroom ('Shared bathroom')....... My fiancé's going to be pissed if we get a room without a bathroom, and I'll be in the doghouse. Guess we'll see what happens. Based on the hotel list I was thinking this was for-sure L'Appartement, but I guess there's always the chance that a new hotel not on the list will show-up. Lesson learned.
  6. Win: CAD $86 bid ($108 all-in), Hyatt Regency Toronto, 4*'s, staying the night of May 3. All prices are CAD: Was looking for a 3* + in Zone 4 (Downtown North-Yorkville), or a 3.5* + in Zone 6 (Downtown Southwest). Started bidding on Zone 4 for a 3* + at $70, $75, $80 - all rejected (using the re-bid strategy). Was hoping for a cheap Holiday Inn Yorkville or Courtyard by Marriott. Only able to do 2 re-bids with 3*s in Toronto. Moved to 3.5* + to include Zone 6 (Downtown Southwest), as well as Zone 4, and used the re-bid strategy. Saw from BetterBidding that many people were getting the Sheraton Centre (in Zone 6) for $78, and was trying for that (or if not, something cheaper than the Priceline Express $97, 4* offer for Zone 6). Rejected: $70, $74, $75, $76, $77, $78, $82 Accepted $86 for the 4* Hyatt Regency. The 'Advanced Purchase' rack rate on Hyatt's website is $179 ($208 all-in) for this night. This is indeed a BIG and JUICY deal. Although I was hoping for something north of Dundas, this is fine too. I did indeed use Better Bidding's PRICELINE link. Thanks BB for the info to help with the bidding. ----- Respect the Girth -----
  7. Amenities: Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), High-Speed Internet Access, Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking .
  8. 2-star Medicine Hat, ammenities include free breakfast, free parking, free Internet, indoor pool, etc. Hotwire win for $83 CAD, posted rate was $98, final price (all taxes & fees-in) = $101. Respect the girth.
  9. I should also point-out that prior to this bid win we tried getting something in Manhattan itself for $135 per night or less for a 2.5 * or higher, and bid trying for that for a few days, and weren't successful. Our Long Island City 'win' is only a short subway from downtown, so hopefully it's a nice money-saving compromise. We're happy we'll be able to stay in NYC within our budget (and not staying in a sketchy hotel/location).
  10. Was looking for a place really close to Manhattan and on the subway, but without Manhattan prices. From reading these forums and checking the lists knew that 3*'s in Long Island City on Priceline would likely get the Holiday Inn, so tried for that. Started at $90, and went up by $5 each bid (adding downtown Manhattan 'zones' with each bid). $115 per night was rejected, $120 per night was accepted. Total all-in (including taxes & fees) is $587.16 for 4 nights. Advertised rate for Holiday Inn is $188 per night + taxes for that time period. Saved $291 total.
