  1. Listed with 95% approval rating. Amenities: Free Parking Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Total with fees = $141.53 for two nights. Always a great place to stay (as long as you can do without free WiFi), and a solid 3-1/2 stars to boot. See my other postings for this property for a full review.
  2. Would like to hear your review of this place. I stayed there several times via HW when it was a Wyndham and always liked it - especially the extremely comfy beds/pillows. Also enjoyed the night life in the catacombs. My recollection is that the Wyndham charged only a small courtesy fee ($5) for valet parking, which made it well worth while as compared to the public parking garage across the street/up a block. From the recent HW reviews, sounds like this place now charges a full parking fee. (Since it's no longer a Wyndham, I've been staying in the Holland/Maumee/Perrysburg area.)
  3. Well, tried to extend the stay for 2 additional nights, but the HW system only allowed 1 added night at $41. Called the hotel and they verified plenty of availability, suggesting I call HW regarding the 2 night extention seeing as they were not limiting it. So, I spoke with a very pleasent lady at HW who also was puzzled that she could only add one night. So, I ended up booking the nearby Sheraton Suites via HW for those two additional nights. By the way, found that this Extended Stay America offers a $5.00/night upgrade to a king room and a $15.00 upgrade to a two queen room for HW bookings - and you can call ahead to reserve it.
  4. Listed with an 85% approval rating on HW. Amenities: Free parking Free breakfast Free internet Laundry facilities (self serve) High-speed internet access Golf nearby Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Got pretty much what I expected and at a bargain price, so no disappointment. Listed as 2 stars on TripAdvisor and had very decent reviews on both TA and HW. Was watching this one (and others in the Tinley Park/Orland Park area) for more than a week and it was listed at $41, so grabbed it when it came up for $38 today. Total with fees was $49.05. Stayed at the LaQunita in Tinley Park a few weeks ago via HW, which listed it as a 3 star property (2 star on TripAdvisor) -- TA is right, that one is definately a basic 2 star LaQuinta and over priced at it's current $75 HW listing for the same date.
  5. Amenities: Free Parking, Laundry Facility (self serve) Booked it via the HOTWIRE link on this site. Total was $50.08 for one night. I was pretty certain as to what I was going to get based on reading the reviews posted on Hotwire. Seeing as I stay in this vicinity several times during the year, I've scouted many of the hotel properties in Columbus North/Worthington/Polaris areas and stayed at number of them over the past few years. This Extended Stay America is located in the Campus View business/commercial park at High Street & I-270 which has several restaurants, a large movie theater and maybe 12 hotels including the Sheraton Suites (stayed there many times), DoubleTree, Days Inn, Homewood Suites, CourtYard, Motel 6, Red Roof, Residence Inn, Hyatt Place, etc. And, I've seen what appeared to be this same listing on HW in the past. So I stopped to check it out this past September and was pleased with what I saw (considering the price). Rooms have a kitchen, flat panel TV and looked to be recently updated. Standard room is queen bed, so I may have to ante up another $5 or so for a king. Hence I'm giving it a try instead of picking the very comfortable Sheraton Suites for $56+fee(via HW) or the adequate Ramada at $50+tax. If it goes well, I'll extend another two nights.
  6. Well, it certainly wasn't an HIE during it's prior life - because the HIE brand was not established when the facility was built 40-50 years ago. However, renovations and continued upkeep resulted in an okay place to bed down for the night. There are two floors, but no elevator. Didn't use the pool, but it looked fine. Lobby area and associated breakfast area was also fine. Plenty of room for breakfast and a very good layout. Typical HIE pancake machine and hot cinamon rolls, a rotating hot item (it was sausage gravy + biscuits that morning), and all other stuff you expect, including raison bread for toasting. Room was clean, matresses were quite firm (great for me but my wife was not comfortable), flat panel TV, coffee maker, no mini-frig or MW. Bathroom was pretty small with very little sink counter top. Shower head was fine; towels were passable, but they didn't absorb very well at all. Overall, I considered it to be a tad over priced. A 2-1/2 star rating would be a stretch - definately not a 3 star propery. I would give it a 3.5 "approval rating". It's in somewhat better shape than the Hawthorn Suites in Holland and much nicer than the Super 8 in Maumee.
  7. Amenities: Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower. Listed as a 3 Star for $55 (total is $67.66). Hmmm - will it really be a 3 star hotel when I get there? Or will it be the typical 2 star older vintage HIE! Stay tuned.
  8. Amenities: free parking, free breakfast, free internet, indoor pool(s), pool(s), laundry facilities(self), high-speed internet access, assessible bathroom, handicapped parking Listed as a 3 star for $51 (total is $63.15). Trust when I state that this is definately not not a 3 star hotel -- it would be a bit of a stretch to make 2-1/2 stars. Unfortunately, I figured the HW 2 star $46 Tinley Park listing for this date was the LaQuinta and the 3 star would be at least the Country Inn & Suites. In any case, I stayed hear a couple of times in the past but booked directly via LaQuinta for $68/76 including tax, so this wasn't much of a bargain. It's an okay place but was expecting something more for the HW price & 3star listing. I've also stayed at the Wingate next door, which is a tad better place but typically goes for $10+ more. Was hoping to get the Country Inn & Suites which is a cut above both. The CIS via Orbitz with their holiday pricing was listed for same date at $70.24 total. Oh well, some times HW is a disappointment and not quite the bargain or facility you hope for.
  9. If you have a chance, stop by J. Liu for an outstanding dinner and/or Sunday brunch. It's just a mile or two south on High Street and you won't be disappointed. And, by all means, stop by LaChatelaine French Bakery & Bistro on High Street in uptown Worthington for your morning coffee, pastries or one of their delicious breakfast items. I try to stop in for an almond croissant each trip.
  10. That was it for the listed amenities. Here's a pasted copy of exactly what is listed: Amenities: Indoor pool(s), Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Free Parking.
  11. Amenities: indoor pool(s) smoke free rooms pool(s) restaurant(s) free parking fitness center business center high-speed internet (extra charge) Booked via this site's HOTWIRE link. Have gotten this property many times and always watch for it seeing as I'm often in Columbus. Used to get it in the $48-$54 range, but $62 is still a bargain. Last stayed here 5/26-29/2012 (see my full review on that booking). Lucked out with a good size two queen suite that time -- seems like these are inside corner rooms, hence few to be had.
  12. Stayed here twice, but not via HOTWIRE. Last time was July 7-9, 2012. Just checked on Sep 6-8 dates and senior rate is still at $64 & change plus tax. I would say 3 star is a stretch. Facility is okay but nothing to write home about. Room included FP TV,small microwave/frig and DYI waffles for breakfast along with other typical stuff. Both times complained about noizy frig - solution was to unplug.
  13. 3.5 Star with 95% recommendation. No TripAdvisor rating shown. Amenties listed: Indoor Pool(s) Outdoor Pool(s) High Speed Internet Access Smoke Free Rooms Restaurant(s) Free parking Fitness Center Business Center Located at I-270 & High Street, I've stayed here several times during the last 1-1/2 years and this is a very decent hotel. The basic room is a comfortable suite with french doors separating the sitting area from the sleeping area. King bed in sleeping area with LCD TV on wardrobe, closet, side tables with lamps and clock radio, sliding (pocket) door access to bathroom. Always found the bed and pillows to be comfortable. Rooms with two beds are hard to come by via the HW rate. The sitting room has a sleeper sofa, floor lamp coffee table, decent size desk w/chair), LCD TV, microwave, mini frig, coffee maker and door to bathroom. Bathroom is nothing outstanding, but I've yet to come across mold in the tub/shower. Towels are sometimes soft/fluffy and sometimes not so. I've not had a noise issue with rooms on the highway side. Internet access is only free in lobby. Lounge opens to the lobby seems to be a popular gathering spot. Not impressed with the breakfast in the restaurant (they occasionally will comp it to SPG guests). If you are SPG, you can get the restricted access floors and comp bottled water in the room. There is a multi-screen cinema just across the road and several restaurant and other hotels in this business park.
  14. Booked this 3 star "gem" for $40+fees on May 4 for a May 4-6 stay. A week earlier it was listed for $37. Got this same place last September when it was listed as 2-1/2 stars for $32. The overall facility was old and pretty shabby then but the room had been somewhat refreshed with lcd tv and at least there was no mold in the shower. So now it's even more well worn and listed as 3 stars. If you want something decent, avoid this place. If all you want is cheep, then this is your place. The room was decently clean with okay pillows, sad mattress, lcd tv, mw and mini fridge. The green bed covers are somewhat tacky but the sheets were fine. The green skirt around the beds was gross, so don't look down. Bathroom appeared clean but small with pedistal sink and small shelf above toilet to hold your stuff. On the plus side, the towels were soft and fluffy. I learnd on the last stay to put a wash cloth in the door jam in order to keep the room door from rattling every time someone walked by. You'll hear everything going on in the hall ways and foot steps from the room above. Didn't try the bar, restaurant or fitness center. No elevators, so call ahead if you don't care to lug your bag up the stairs. Listed Amenities include, free parking, free internet, fitness center, pool, restaurant, laundry facility(ss), high speed internet.
