  1. I just booked the Marriott in the Wharf. Thrilled with the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal Price of $176 and this property. Used the board PRICELINE link and Priceline Coupon. Thanks! 2. I prefer the Wharf. Yeah, it's touristy but the views of the Bay and Golden Gate are incredible. I'm also a runner and being able to step out of my hotel and run along the marina and up and over the bridge seals the deal. Over the years (I've been going to SFO every May for about 15 yrs now) I've seen varying amounts of homeless. It hasn't been too bad the last few years. What I really like is having a Safeway right there so I can buy snacks and things. Save money!
  3. Ugh. I got this property 7 or 8 years ago (when it was still the Holiday Inn) and the same thing happened to me! Also, they were doing the renovations for the switchover and I lost power in my room on the last day. I hope to never "win" this property again.
  4. You don't want to stay at Fisherman's Wharf? That's right next to North Beach. If you get the Holiday Inn on Columbus, North Beach is practically right out the front door. Not sure you can get a place for $99 a night, though. In the past, yes, but San Francisco has gotten very expensive.
  5. I was bidding the same thing (113+7) for a 2.5 star in the Wharf for this weekend and got nothing. I think you'll have to go higher for anything in Union Square as it's the more desirable area.
  6. I haven't bid again yet but I have noticed considerable downward movement on Priceline's retail side for B2B weekend (Marriott FW down to 369 from 509). And since I see full availability (ie. all nights of my stay are available), I'm going to hold out before bidding again. I have a feeling I might be able to get something if I wait.
  7. I have friends who stayed at the Hotel Vertigo last year (this same time of year, actually, for the Bay to Breakers race) and they really liked it!
  8. According to the convention & visitors page, Citrix is having some sort of event from the 8th through the 11th. It says 6000 attendees which doesn't seem like it would be large enough to cause problems but perhaps coupled with something else going on, it is. I"m having the same issue myself for the following weekend: a medical convention with 11,000 attendees.
  9. Hey Chuck I'm in the same boat. Been going to B2B for 15 years and, until last year, have always been able to get a 3* at the Wharf for less than $100/night (in 2010 I got the Marriott for 70!). Last year, I finally managed to snag the Holiday Inn for $150. I couldn't believe it, never paid that much. I looked around on PRICELINE's retail side and it appears hotels are going for four or close to five HUNDRED dollars a night this year! I've checked the convention page, looked for concerts or other events...nothing. Strangely, the weekends both before and after show the rates coming down to the more reasonable $200 range. I don't know what I'm going to do if they don't come down. I don't want to stay out by the airport but I can't afford $250+/night for the hotel.
