You may as well know ahead of time: they are going to stick you with a $12,95 mandatory "resort fee". I wouldn't park there and give them even more money. If you don't mind walking about 5 blocks you can park in a parking garage on O'Keefe (near Union) for $15 per day (blue vertical "PARK" sign on the left). This would save you the $12,95. LOL!

Bid $73 for a 3* or better in the Convention Center area or FQ. Got this on first try. Prices are high, you probably can't do much better.

If you don't mind walking a bit: $20 overnight parking on O'Keefe, near Common. $15 overnight parking on O'Keefe near Gravier (blue vertical "P A R K" letters on outside of the building).

Even after clicking on the offer, the only listed amenity was: "Free Internet available".

Hello, I used the Priceline.Express search for 08/15 and there is a 4-star in the French Quarter zone for $85. My gut says it's the Crown Plaza. Does anybody have a more educated guess? Thanks.

That place is ok. Unlike many 3* hotels, they don't tack on a "resort" fee (at least not last time I stayed there). There is a parking garage on O'Keefe you can park for $15 a night. It's kind of across from the big garage with the big lighted signs (they charge $20), but it's about half a block before that (toward Poydras).

We really wanted to go to New Orleans on this date. Hotel prices are very high. Finally decided to get a cheap room in Metairie. We can take a cab to the French Quarter for $25 each way and come out much better, especially since parking is free too. However, we should be able to save $10-20 by taking a city bus to the end of the Canal Street streetcar line and catching the streetcar from there. So we are thinking outside the box here - we'll see how that works out! It should be fun, anyway.

You're going to have to bid a lot higher for that night. Look at the Priceline.Express Deals for that date. I can usually bid about $10 under their best deal. Sometimes you can catch a lower price later. I would keep checking back.

No, thereuare, that was the Wyndham I was thinking of. I just missed it in the list (working too hard these days!).

I'm thinking it's the Four Points Sheraton. The Wyndham usually says something like "Indoor or outdoor" pool as opposed to "Indoor pool". Plus, I noticed that the Wyndham isn't on the BetterBidding Hotwire list right now.

I think you are right, Billy. That's the only 4.5 star hotel listed in downtown N. O. on this site. It's a nice place, in an old building. Be sure and ask for one of their (free) peanut butter and jelly sandwiches they are so famous for!

I think the Intercontinental is right, but just know that there is construction going on at the Intercontinental right now. So if you need a quiet hotel, you might want to look elsewhere.

Once in a while you can get a better deal on a Saturday night instead of a Friday night in New Orleans. This weekend is one of those times. I'm glad I thought to check for that!

Love the Marriott on Canal, especially when we get a river view room.

It could be the Wyndham on Royal also, which was previously a Holiday Inn.

Also, the Royal St. Charles charges a $9.95 resort fee. I don't know if that's a 1-time charge or if it's every day because I have only stayed there for one day at a time.

Jay, you nailed it. It's a very nice hotel but not the best location unless you are going to the Dome. It's on a street car line but it doesn't run past 11-12 at night.

The only one it could be is the Whitney Wyndham. I've stayed there before. It's nice enough. It's on Poydras, near St. Charles Avenue.

I do think Mardi Gras has a lot to do with the expensive rates. Since you are staying on those dates, maybe you could take in a parade:

Priceline Express showed it for $58 so I bid $48 via Name Your Own Price. It was rejected. Added N. O. East re-bid zone and bid $53, which was accepted. I got the hotel that I was hoping to get. It's the old Holiday Inn French Quarter.

Another thing to consider is that some of the 3-star hotels charge a $10/night "resort fee". I have yet to see a 4-star hotel do that.

Wow! I've been trying for 2 weeks to find a cheap room in N. O. this weekend, and this afternoon I finally saw a few on Priceline Express. Saw a 3* in downtown N. O. for $61 so I bid $51, which was accepted. They charge $9.95 "resort" fee, so it's really $61 for the night.
