  1. I finally got the Boston Park Plaza & Towers, 3 1/2 stars,in Boston Common for $139 per night. Thanks for the help.
  2. Last year I followed a priceline bidding strategy suggested by thereuare and ended in the Newport Jersey City Westin paying $100 a night. This year, we will be staying in NJ or Manhattan from 9/9 til 9/16, a total of 7 nights. I am aware that it would be very difficult to get such a great deal again, but I would appreciate it very much if you could suggest a strategy that would allow me to stay the 7 nights for less han $130, hopefully in the same hotel. Thanks a lot in advance.
  3. I booked via HOTWIRE at the Sutton a rate of $115/night plus taxes (total of $432.70 with travel insurance). It was located in the "Vancouver Downtown Shopping and Entertainment District" area The amenities showed were Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Spa Services In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible I want to say that the Sutton was excellent, great rooms and service. They even sent a plate with strawberries covered in chocolate for my birthday. Cheers, Andretto
  4. I finally ended up getting The Westin Grand Vancouver for $113 per night. Friday 10/12/2012 Great Hotel & Experience. Thanks again!
  5. Actually, I had to get to Vancouver one day earlier than expected so I booked one night at the Westin bidding via PL.(Granville Entertainment District) The other 3 nights I booked via Hotwire at the Sutton a rate of $115/night plus taxes (total of $432.70 with travel insurance).
  6. Sorry for the super late reply. I've completely forgotten about this post. I finally ended up getting The Westin Grand Vancouver for $113 per night. Great Hotel & Experience. Thanks again!
  7. I will be in Boston from 6/26 till 6/30 attending a Conference at MIT Media Lab, so I thought it would be great if I could find a 4 star Hotel in the Cambridge East area for $130/night Max for these 4 nights. I'm also open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
  8. Yes, it looks like it might be the Sutton. I've read some negative posts about them having a bias against guests that book trough Hotwire, but with such a low price you can't really complain, can you? Anyway, I think I will bid through PL for a 4 * hotel downtown to a max of $100, if I have no luck, will take the Hotwire offer (if it's still available). I'll let you know how it goes. Please let me know if you have any news or tips. Good luck to you too!
  9. I will have to stay in Vancouver from 10/13 till 10/17 for work. I usually book my hotels via Priceline, but Hotwire offers a 5 star hotel in Vancouver West downtown for only $116 + taxes. I was hoping somebody could tell me which hotel it might be. The ammenities listed are: Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Spa services In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible This rate is really great for a 5 star, it' recommended by 85% of Hotwire costumer reviews, but if possible, I'd like to know what are the hotels most likely to get within this parameters. Thanks in advance for any help!
  10. I would appreciate some help bidding for a 4* hotel in downtown Vancouver. Hotwire is offering some great rates for a 5* in west downtown (my guess is the Pan Pacific), but I think I could save some more with Priceline and get a better location downtown.
  11. Finally I raised the bid and ended up paying $195 for the 3 * Bulfinch Hotel in Beacon Hill. Not a very big save, but it seems like it's a very expensive week to go to Boston. Thanks again for your help.
  12. Thereuare, this trip never sems to end! It started as a 10 day holiday in New York with my mother, then from work they asked if I could go to Boston and today they told me I might have to go to Vancouver after that (never been there either, so if confirmed, will ask for your help here too ) I tell you all this because my office will reimburse my travel expenses once I get back, but in the meantime, my credit card will be almost exhausted. And of course, whatever I can save in Hotels, I can spend or save for myself. That's why I prefer a well located Hotel even if its not the best available. 3 .5 *if lower than $200, if not, 3*. Thanks again for your valuable help.
  13. Followed that strategy as well and didn't work. I also went up to $220 for a 3.5 * in the "core" downtown with no luck. I would like to add Cambridge, maybe I'll get something under $200 there. Thanks again.
  14. Followed exactly the strategy. No luck. I would like to try for a 3 star hotel in the "core" downtown and if that doesn't work, try Cambridge. Will wait for instructions before proceding. Thanks again.
  15. I followed a bidding stratetgy posted earlier by thereuare and ended up paying $155 + taxes for a room at the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Fifth Avenue. Thanks again!
  16. I'm looking preferably for a 3 star hotel (or higher) in the vicinity of CPS for two nights. but since I understand it is an expesive time of the year, I could also settle for a nice 3* level in Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, LES, Soho, TS and CPS. In a previous post Thereuare warned me about the Hudson Hotel and its tiny rooms in CPS, but I really don't mind, since I'll be on my own and just want to save money. I'd like to spend around $150 per night, $200 max. Any advice on prices or bidding strategies would be very welcome. Thanks in advance!
  17. Yes ,that would be right. I would go as high as $200 in the"core" downtown. If rejected, then I would try Cambridge. Thanks again.
  18. I'm sorry I forgot to follow up and close the Vegas thread. Finally that trip didn't fly. Back to Boston, I think I prefer a 3.5 in the "core" downtown, but I would add the zones mentioned by Crito, Beacon Hill and Cople/Back Bay and finally Cambridge as a second option. Thanks again.
  19. I'm sorry I forgot to follow up and close the Vegas thread. . Finally that trip didn't fly. I think I prefer a 3.5
  20. I'm sorry I forgot to follow up and close this threat. Finally this trip didn't fly.
  21. Hello everybody. I will be staying in Boston for three nights on a business trip, from tuesday 10/9 till friday 10/12. During the day I will have to attend meetings downtown in places such as the Massachusetts State House and a couple of visits to Harvard and MIT, hopefully with public transport. At nightime I plan to go out and have fun, ideally walking. I am not looking for anything too fancy, I want to save on accomodation so I can spend more going out, so a decent and well located 3 star Hotel would be more than enough for me. Of course if anybody told me that for an extra $20 a night I could stay at a 4 star Hotel I would certainly go for it! My budget would allow me to spend as much as $200 a night. I have never been to Boston before, but from what I've read in this forum, the ideal place to stay would be in the Boston Common and Quincy Market Areas. Of course I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help.
  22. Hi, I needsome advice on a bidding strategy. Will be staying in Las Vegas one week from 9/2 til 9/9. Would like a 4 stars or higher at the strip. I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance
  23. I got a little too anxious and made a bid without waiting for your strategy and ended up winning a bid at the Affinia Dumont 4* for $230 per night. Nothing too impresive but not bad, is it? On another post I read that you mentioned that in the Affinia Manhattan they have a bias with PL/Hotwire and they give their costumers the smallest rooms. Is that also applicable at the Dumont? I am a little worried especially when I will have to ask for two separate beds. Any thoughts on this? Thanks again and sorry for not following exactly your strategy. :(
  24. Let's avoid the Hudson for sure. MTE also. Let's bid on the rest of the zones then. I will be waiting for your suggested strategy.
  25. thereuare,I think I will take the risk of booking one room with PL and leave the Hotwire option as a last resource. Can you suggest a bidding strategy for the mentioned areas?
