  1. First bid $55 4* Galleria area only... Rejected but would allow rebid in that zone only by raising my bid by $15. Didn't do it!!! :) Added Medical Center/ Reliant Stadium....(No 4* in that zone) and raised bid to $60. WON!!! :) Hilton Post Oak Blvd. $60.00 Oct. 31-Nov.2
  2. 4* Omni Galleria $78.00 On 4* I had bid $65. Rejected Added another zone, bid $68. Rejected. Closed and reopened browser. Added zone, bid $70, Rejected. Add zone, $75, Rejected Closed and reopened browser. Went with 3* $60, Rejected with message stating for $18 would get hotel and upgraded to 4*. If I would have upped the bidding on the 4* the first time, problaby would have gotten it sooner. but knew I was running out of time, and was too tired to keep trying for a 3* at a lower rate... Busy time of year I guess, couldn't find any other deals anywhere. Decided that was my best option, since other sites have 3 and 4* at over $100. Called Omni to see what my gov discount could get me out of curiousity. Reg room rate $200, Gov discount $175.
  3. Thought I should get busy on it tonight with not much time left...Got the Omni for $78
  4. I posted that because of other responses I've seen given when someone asked for help in bidding, when they had asked before....I looked and had already posted that the NYC trip was cancelled last year due to Hurricane Rita....Had forgotten I already let the NY board know... But will definately be in Houston on oct 10....No choice in the matter.... Thanks....
  5. I am in need of a hotel in Houston............... Galleria, or Medical Center areas.... Oct. 10, 1 night.... Galleria area would like 4,3, or 2.5* ratings... Med Center 3 or 4*... I don't know if this is out of the league, but hopful for $40 - $55 a night... BTW the NYC trip was cancelled....
  6. Came here same time last year for help bidding on a hotel in NYC...Then Rita struck dead center of our town, and naturally put off the trip...Now my daughters and I are in the planning stage again.... We were looking at Oct 21-25, 4 nights MTW, not sure about CPS or MTE, want to be centrally located and able to go out walking safely at night and not get too lost.... Would I be better off splitting nights for a lower price? Dates are flexable so could even change those if it would help get a lower price. One daughter is still in school so definately looking to include wknd. Won't be in the room that much, just to sleep so even considered a 2 *.....Long as its clean and convenient. I read where someone received a discount for being a gov employee, but so far havent found a hotel that gives that discount in NYC. Any advice? Thanks.... :)
  7. Yes, I can see how the times seemed close...I was going to start bidding, but my computer isn't cooperating...I was not aware that the pricing strategy changed, but thank you for letting me know...
  8. I was not complaining about the time....I am just very busy working (on the computer) and be in court a couple of days this week. Also living on the coast of La, am now preoccupied with a hurricane... But please have a look at my origional post time and date.... :) Posted: Aug 27 2005, 11:14 PM I'll post my results...Thank you for your help
  9. This has nothing to do with the hotels...but I'm assuming that the weather is COLD and unpredictable in March....Other than that Would the >100 nite rooms in March be on PL or other sites?
  10. I am curious as to how many people purchase insurance on PL, and comments by people that have used it.
  11. Thank you thereuare....I'll try bidding this week...from previous postings, I am not confident I will find anything within my budget now...But I'm going to try.... I'll post my findings....MTW,E,CPS are really the only areas I'm familiar with, thats why I chose those...Not sure about MTC...
  12. Thank you. No I have not bid yet, and will happily accept strategy. I am going to try for less than 200 nite, and if it doesn't work, will :) wait until April for the trip. Will look forward to it.... I suppose I was just a bit anxious earlier to see what my strategy might be.
  13. No responses, so I'll follow the guidelines on another post.... Thanks anyway.... :)
  14. Trip planned with my 14 yr old daughter. Last trip for me stayed in Time Sq, now find rooms much higher than last year in Oct. Perfect location though for night walking. If I can't stay in TS, want to stay in area convenient to TS to be able to take walks at night. Would like to keep the price under $200, and would appreciate advice on areas to stay in, and bidding strat.. 2.5,3 or 4*. Stayed at the Quality last trip. Not really impressed with it, but location was awesome, and didn't spend much time in the room anyway. Is it best to bid through savings barn rather than priceline direct? thank you thank you thank you :)
