  1. THAT is a very attractive win! Wow. I would want it as well but I think that hotel has only one room with two double beds and I require bedding for 4 peeps. But a very swanky looking win.
  2. Thank-you - I will report any wins I get immediately.
  3. No luck tonight. Alas. Will try again tomorrow - I bid up to $225.
  4. I bid up to $220 to all the areas I mentioned. I am about to send in a bunch more. I might try to break it up into two seperate nights but it will not be fun moving 4 people twice . I will bid as high as $230 for a 3.5 and see what happens ...going in..... through the Betterbidding PRICELINE link o f course!
  5. Have bid 5 nights in a row with all kinds of strategies, no accepted bids. Bid as high as $220 for MS, Times Square, MTW MTE, Hells Kitchen, Chelsea, Empire, CP South and even tried a bunch of bids at 2.5 star - nada. Darn that awesome city and it's high hotel prices and those fanatical joggers in the NYC Marathon! I normally never pay more then $85 in any other city! Do PRICELINE hotel rooms become available as time goes by or just get scarcer? Does anyone know?
  6. Will the ING NYC marathon have an impact on the city that weekend? I have been bidding from November 4th to the 8th ( breaking up my bids for the MSG Times Square Chelsea and related areas with not much luck YET.
  7. Thanks for the advice 'AaronJB'! It is for my two night priceline win at the New York Marriott Marquis. I called ahead just now and they gave me a garantee of two beds... but first he said "oooooooh I see you purchased through a wholesale third party......" all ominous like. I just laughed and said "yea, and please don't put me in the basement next to the furnace" He laughed and garanteed me two double beds. I fully plan to charm my way into a free upgrade when I get there :)
  8. Does anyone know if Priceline has any policies about how many people I can have in my hotel room? For one of my New York nights, I will have 4 people in my hotel room and a person told me that Priceline has a policy that I can only have TWO people per room or that there is an extra charge $ for each person. Anybody updated on that?
  9. Not a win I feel like bragging about ! I can't believe how expensive NYC is this time of year!!!!! :) Bah humbug. All the other wins throughout the years balance out this one though. Thanks betterbidding. Used the PRICELINE link of course :-) Holiday Inn Nyc - Manhattan 6th Ave Chelsea Area 125 West 26th Street Fri, Sep 24, 2010 / 11:00 AM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night:$225.00 Subtotal:$225.00 Taxes & Fees: $54.05 Total Charges*:$279.05 The estimated price on the Holliday Inn hotels website is $346.60 for that same night - saved enough $ for a meal :-)
  10. Thank-you so much, great post!!! and that advice makes a world of difference. I will ad Midtown East, Midtown West, and *Upper Midtown/CentralParkSouth to my bids. And get back to y'all with the results. I want to spend under $200 and a 3 star or better would be great for that thursday nght I am after . We shall see, week nights are tricky in any city! "Upper Midtown"? I did not see "Upper Midtown" as a zone option. I saw upper east and upper west - was that what you meant by "Upper Midtown"?
  11. I have been unsuccessfully bidding on these below zones as they seem to revolve around Times Square | | | v Empire State Building Area Chelsea Area Hell's Kitchen Midtown West Madison Square Garden - Convention Area Midtown East Times Square - Theatre District I am looking for one night on September 23rd and have bid up to $225 on the above zones and no luck. I have not been bidding on these below as I am unsure about them and don't want to wind up in the hood getting mugged and perceive that being near Times Square is primo :) | | | v Brooklyn Central Park South Long Island City Coney Island Downtown - SoHo - Financial District Upper East Side Upper West Side Can anyone tell me if any of the above zones are safe and would work well with wanting to be around the Time Square area and which ones I might include in my next bid?
  12. HAHA! It is a sweet hotel according to reviews. Did you see my priceline win for Friday and Saturday? I wonder if you could still get Marriott Marquis (Times Square-Theatre District) for saturday nighjt for $200? My only missing night is Thursday night now. I will bid for that tomorrow.
  13. Pricelne offered me $150, I got it at $140. I used the PRICELINE link on the Betterbidding board naturally :-) I see another win at that price point. Not bad I suppose. These high new york prices are hard to swollow though :) Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel Times Square - Theatre District 714 7th Avenue New York, New York 10036 212-765-7676 Subtotal:$140.00 Taxes & Fees: $36.53 Total Charges*:$176.53
  14. Started with the betterbidding PRICELINE link :) ....then bid on Madison Square Garden Zone at $200 ans was rejected, and added Times Square and bid $210. and was accepted. I don't have allot of time so I just cut to the chase pricewise. Based on the website I got the room at half the going rate per night. I am happy. Thanks better bidding for making travel and saving $ easy. Love it! I am only there for two nights, not sure if I did the dates right in the title (Checking out Sunday). New York Marriott Marquis Times Square - Theatre District 1535 Broadway Per Night:$210.00 Subtotal:$420.00 Taxes & Fees: $94.58 Total Charges*:$514.58
  15. Dang. I never thought of asking, I assumed that Priceline was strict and unbednable about such things so I did not even ask. I instead as I said rebid on a new hotel and got a great one ( The Hyatt ) where I got an amazing free upgrade and two free nights parking after I told the front desk that I had a few harmless black ants in my bed both nights, no big deal. The room they upgraded me to was the 19th floor facing the CN tower and with a sweet balcony. I lost $167 on the wrong zone - lesson learnt. Thanks for the suggestion ceecee8!
  16. LAST NIGHT , going through the betterbidding PRICELINE links, I made a mistake and ended up bidding on a zone that did not work for me (not paying attention) and overpaid for a hotel wasting $167.00!! TODAY, I was so annoyed at myself for not being alert and tossing away the $ I saved that I rushed and neglected to go through the Better bidding links ......and I promise I will not make that mistake next time as this board is my best traveling tool .......but I still wanted to report my win for others. Starting at $60 and using 3 rebid zones I got a hotel downtown Toronto where I really wanted it for $75 a night - a mega huge savings at a splash property. I got one night and then took the rebid option to add a 2nd night for the same price and won that too. Hyatt Regency Toronto Check-In Date: Saturday, August 14, 2010 Check-Out Date: Monday, August 16, 2010 Hotel Name: Hyatt Regency Toronto 370 King Street West Toronto, Ontario M5V 1J9 Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $75.00 (US dollars) Subtotal: $75.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Fees: $17.92 (US dollars) Total Charges for Original Reservation: $92.92 (US dollars)
  17. Jimgiggles, downtown Buffalo not an option? I just got a bite at $50 for downtown for Friday the 23 of July. I did not commit though I am just researching.
  18. Much appreciated Buteos! :) While we are on the subject of the great and beautiful Buffalo, any idea how far downtown Buff is from the Airport? East to get to by car?
  19. I am new to bidding on priceline for hotels in Buffalo. Is there a downtown Buffalo? I don't see allot of bidding for this area . ARE THERE NO 4 STARS? OMG I am so spoiled. Is below what is considered the downtown area? Buffalo - Niagara Falls (Downtown) 3* Adams Mark Hotel 3* Holiday Inn Downtown (620 Delaware Ave) 3* Hyatt Regency REVIEW 2.5* Comfort Suites Downtown Am I best to just bid on an Airport hotel? Buffalo - Niagara Falls (Airport BUF) 3* Holiday Inn 3* Millennium Airport REVIEW 3* Park Plaza Hotel-- 2.5* Days Inn (previously 2*) 2.5* Holiday Inn Express (previously 2*) 2* Quality Inn 2* Fairfield Inn (now 1* Motel 6 not yet reported)
