  1. We stayed at Intercontinental on Front Street a few months back, in July 2005. We were there for 2 nights and booked through HotWire. We were very pleased with our stay there. We had a corner room, with lots and lots of windows. Our view was of the CN Tower. Room was clean, staff were attentive. We ate at a restaurant that was across the street. It was called something like "Joe Badali's" (not quite certain), which was reasonably priced and had great pasta. Cab fare to the Eaton Center area was around $ 6 (Canadian funds). All in all, we would be happy to stay there again if we were assigned this hotel via Priceline or Hotwire. I liked it a little more than the Westin Harbour Castle, where we stayed in August and will be staying again in October, although we had a nice view of the lake at the Westin. The staff at the Intercontinental were much more helpful with our request for 2 double beds and non-smoking than the staff at Westin were. Although the Westin people did eventually accommodate our request, we were made to feel like we were less valuable as customers because we had used Priceline. Parking at each hotel is roughly $ 25 - 30 per night, but it seems that most of the downtown hotels are in that range.
  2. Need 2 rooms for one night (10/28). Wanted Downtown area only. Tried bidding $ 60 per room with only Downtown selected and was rejected unless I wanted to increase bid by $ 17. Added Airport area (as they do not have a 4*) and increased bid to $65. Was accepted! Thanks again for this board -- it's been so helpful on a number of occasions.
  3. This is my first post, so please forgive me if it doesn't come through properly. I needed to book 2 rooms in Toronto for this Saturday night (8/27/05) and needed to be in the Downtown area only. Hotwire had what I believe was the Westin Harbour Castle listed for $ 113. As any of Priceline's 4* properties looked as if they'd be acceptable, I decided to try my luck there. My bid of $ 60 for each room, listing only Downtown, was rejected, but I was allowed to make another bid in that area if I was willing to increase my bid to $ 77. I now know through reading this board that I might have been successfull by bidding less, but it's coming down to the wire and I am happy with $ 77 as opposed to paying $ 113 on Hotwire or $ 219 at the Westin website. Thanks for this great board, it's been very helpful. I'll start earlier on my quest for a room in the Downtown Toronto for October.
