  1. I understand you get what you get, but the reason I felt this may be Park Lane was after considering the various hotels in the areas as far as hotwire rating, customer satisfaction, and the "facility fee", it seemed to line up. Plus a previous posted win for Park Lane, and Park Central being listed in Time Square North, it just seemed to fit. It appears Hotwire is really trying to make it difficult to figure out the hotel you're going after, most notably by not putting the tripadvisor rating on many of the listings. I'm sure the hotel will be fine, but the "fee" for basically nothing is what gets me. We called the hotel this morning to see what we get for the $33, and they basically listed everything a person would would expect to be included.
  2. Hotwire listing for Central Park South $212, with an additional resort fee of $33. 85% hotwire customer rating, 4/5 TripAdvisor. Amenities include: Boutique Hotel Business Center Fitness Center Internet In room accessibility Accessible Bathroom I was 95% sure it was the Park Lane Hotel, and was really blindsided (and disappointed) when I got the Park Central. I'm sure the hotel is fine, but the $33 resort fee really doesn't get you anything different that other hotels give for free. Most hotels that charge this high of fee offer breakfast, and happy hour receptions. The price wasn't all that great either. On the Park Central website, the room was only $257. A far cry from Hotwire's supposed $435 original price. One last thing, Park Central Hotel is listed as Times Square North on Better bidding.
  3. Just got a nice price on what I believe is a very nice hotel. We've never been to Portland, so any tips will be helpful. Thanks. 4. I decided to give them a call. I was able to book the Hilton Back Bay for $134 a night. I don't know if I'll be able to beat that with anything on Hotwire, but I'll keep an eye out. They gave me the LMTClub membership for free. I'll most likely drop it after the first year when I saw the yearly fee. Thanks again for the tip.
  5. Wow! Thank you so much. I just checked out the site, and if the photos are correct it's very easy to find the name of the hotel. Those two hotels are a great deal. I saw the refund policy, and it looks like they charge you for one night if you cancel.
  6. The $194 hotel is back, but I'm still going to hold out a little longer. According to last years june/july win calendar, there were some pretty good deals that were purchased in april/may.
  7. Well now the $195 4 1/2* (Intercontinental?) is gone, replaced with a $265 4 1/2*. The tripadvisor rating is 4.5, and I think before it was 4.0. Maybe a different hotel? Hopefully I'll get another opportunity to get a 4* room under $200.
  8. I usually use your link when searching, but since they emailed me with the price drop I did a quick check. Do you think it would be wise to wait a while for a price drop for july 4 booking, or get something sooner?
  9. Thanks for the great info. That $3.50 HH sounds like a sure thing. We really like Thai and Indian food, and of course Italian. We ate at Carmines in time square area when we were last there in 2008, but I felt though good it was pretty pricey, and probably a bit touristy. We want to stay away from the chains and eat more of the local spots. Thanks.
  10. You're right. I had followed the link in my email notification of a price drop, but it was for 2 adults only. It doesn't show up for the 2/1. Do you think its best to wait it out for cheaper listings. When checking the calendar of wins for last summer, it looked like the were some pretty good deals. I'll keep looking. Thanks for all your help
  11. I just got an email from hotwire for a price drop. It included a 3* back bay with the following: Smoke Free Rooms Guest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free. Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. Laundry Facilities (self-service) <amenity names only please... not descriptions> High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. only 70% hotwire and 3.5 tripadvisor. Nothing on list matches. Any ideas??
  12. Had great success booking the NYC leg of this trip, now time to find an even better deal in Boston. We'd prefer the BB, Boston common area, but quincy would be fine also. There is a 4 1/2* quincy listed for $189 today, which I've narrowed down to the Intercontinental.I think it's a great deal, but I'd really like to try to get into the Back Bay Hotel or Nine Zero, but I may have to wait a while for a possible shot at those. There is also a Boston Common 4* listed right now for $240, which has all the signs of the W Hotel. I can currently get it for $259 on the other sites without any drama. Is there possibly another hotel that would match the following amenities with that high of a HW price? Smoke Free Rooms Guest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free. Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Laundry Facilities (self-service) <amenity names only please... not descriptions> High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Spa Services Guests have access to a spa facility or spa services; an extra charge typically applies. I don't know if 4th of July is a high boston time or not. It appears like it could be a soft hotel week. Thanks for any help.
  13. Thanks. We love bagels, and will surely give it a try. We're always on the lookout for local (inexpensive) places to eat.
  14. We decided to go for it. It did turn out to be the OMNI Berkshire. We're very excited about the hotel, and hope it turns out to be a pleasant experience. I've posted the info separatly. Now time to find a Boston hotel over 4th of july.
  15. Won MTE OMNI Berkshire $208 July 2012 Amenities: Fitness center Restaurant Business Center High Sp Internet 95% Hotwire customer satisfaction 4.5 Trip Advisor reviews.
  16. Thank you so much for the fast reply. My thoughts were also the Omni, which I believe $208 would be a great price. We are open to other areas, but would like to stay in the 4* range, and at or below $200. There were no other 4* offers except for Time Sq, and we'd rather not stay there at this point. I went ahead and made a back-up refundable resv at the La Quinta Manhattan. Not my first choice, but would allow me keep searching for other great deals. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again!!
  17. Hello. New member, first time post. We'll be in NYC July 8-11, and have found MTE hotwire for $208. Details: Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Compare $335 other sites 95% hotwire recommend 4.5 tripadvisor rating I'd be pretty happy with most MTE possible choices with the exception of the Roosevelt. I checked tripadvisor ratings and the roosevelt only has a 3.5 rating. Do you think I can rule it out. What might be your thoughts? Also, should we wait for the date to get closer, or should we get a hotel now? Thanks for any input.
