  1. Thanks, I think it is a good deal too. I got a question for adding a night option, i posted it in the original hotwire post related to this PL bid... Any clue on the adding a night tax+fees calculation? (i.e. for 1 night tax+fees is $25, for two nights it is $38, if you add a night do you pay $50 or $38?)
  2. Didn't mind the locations as long as it is in the general areas of beverly/hollywood/westwood/santa monica Tried up until $90 yesterday and failed. Started at $95 today $95 - westwood rejected $97 - westwood+hollywood rejected $100 - westwood+hollywood+beverly accepted
  3. I decided to bid on priceline 3* up to $110, if all rejected I would've taken this property (although it just got upgraded from 2.5*, but the amenities of parking and internet is nice) Ended up getting a 3* property in beverly hills on PL. Will post hotel win. I have a question about the adding nights option - I noticed that the taxes and fees for 1 night is around $25, but for 2 nights it is only $38. If I select add a night at the same rate and my bid gets accepted, would the taxes and fees be $25 again? Or would it be corrected to $38 for 2 days? Thanks! Going to post hotel win now
  4. I've had some luck with upgrades with PL hotels. The most recent was at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. So it is possible...it also helps if you've waited for more than 30 min for checkin...
  5. Booking my hotels for west coast summer trip. Next up is LA and SF... I didnt really care about the location as i will be renting a car so i just started near the downtown area and added locations that are close to it in subsequent bids. Bid $50 rejected Bid $55 rejected Bid $60 accepted Sorry I do not remember the exact locations that I added as I didn't care about it that much.
  6. I will think about it, I tried bidding on Priceline until $95 and failed, so I'm considering whether I should just grab the hotwire property. I will try pricelining again tomorrow and will update the thread if I succeed.
  7. Century City - Westwood area hotel Jun 8th to Jun 9th $113 Amenities: Free Parking Complimentary Breakfast Free internet Pool High speed internet In-room accessibility 80% of Hotwire reviews recommend 50+ total reviews From the hotel list, it seems like the only 3* in century city is the holiday inn? but the amenities are quite different.... As before, I have clicked on the links and have followed up with my past threads (at least all that I could think of) Any feedback on decent/safe/nice areas to stay in LA is also welcome...dt area seems to be much cheaper in comparison, anyone with any feedback on whether dt is a good place to stay at? Thanks!
  8. After trying for a few days with a maximum bid of 120, saw some people winning bids at $130 for Marriott downtown. So selected 3* with downtown, went from 110 to 130 (adding a midtown location each time since I don't mind midtown either) and got the 4* property
  9. I searched for Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins on the forums, Saw a few people bidding 130 for marriott downtown at the same date so I just bid from 100-130 for the downtown area and got the hotel. thanks for the advices
  10. I started from the usual places that people got 3* for around 120 in late may. (downtown) then worked my way to include everything in manhattan. I will try again tomorrow. I tried the Friday Jun 1 because I checked HOTWIRE and sat jun 2 is significantly more expensive than Friday Jun 1. Does it make sense to wait for a few weeks before bidding again?
  11. I'd prefer the 3* for 115-120 over a 4* for 135-140. Hotwire seems to have 3* around 160 range....I've tried bidding until 125 but no bids were accepted.
  12. I'm thinking of 130-140 is that realistic? (I see several people scoring around 125 near the end of may)
  13. Hi all, I am thinking of bidding for a hotel in NYC on either Friday Jun 1 or Saturday Jun 2 for 1 room. 1. Flexible location (as long as it is in manhattan) 2. relatively flexible star rating (around 3*) 3. somewhat flexible date (either friday Jun 1 or saturday Jun 2 is fine) 4. have about 2 months to bid I have already clicked on both HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for the forums, have also read my messages. Any recommendations? Thanks
