  1. It had an 85% recommended on the reviews and the amenities were: Business center Children's activities Fitness center Internet access Pet friendly Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry Smoke-free rooms Spa services I didn’t see any accessibility information posted, It was an easy match knowing it was the Sheraton based on the hotel lists posted in the help sections.
  2. Hey thereuare, the advice paid off, Thanks again!!! i used HOTWIRE to book a hotel, using your link and the extra 10 bucks! you will probably want to move this thread over there now i searched using 2 adults and 1 child to easily find locations with 2 beds :) Landed the 4* Sheraton New York Hotel times square north for 149 per night, with fees and taxes it comes to 193 per night. I've stayed there before it's an amazing location, it was a little dated but location was amazing. happy with the results
  3. I think preference would be 2 double beds, we are looking on the island most areas with exception to china town, and lower east side, basically upper west and east down to financial district. A 4* is preference with desired budget would be around 150 but could go to 185-190. Don't really want to exceed $200 including all the fees. options 1 and 2 are difficult and time consuming to navigate through so i'm going to try option 3 by adding the child and see what i get. if you have any other suggestions based on this info i'm open. Thanks,
  4. It's been a while for me using priceline/hotwire, but i was looking at booking a hotel August 17 thru to the 21st. My largest hurdle is that i require 2 beds for this trip and i'm looking for suggestions since i don't believe you can request this through the bidding process and i don't really want to risk not getting 2 beds. I guess i'm looking for suggestions, i know that hotwire has choose your bed type, does Priceline offer anything like that, for name your own price or expresss deals? TIA
  5. It's been a while... Used the PRICELINE links and used the re-bid strategy for downtown with 8 rebid zones, started at $50 ended at $80.
  6. It's been a long time since I posted and attempted to use PRICELINE :) Overall I think this was a great deal. Paid 145 and got an extra 5% discount too. As always used your PRICELINE link for the bidding!
  7. I was searching Hotwire and came across the following properties for a 3* hotel listed at $149 for the 1 night Nov 17 leaving the 18th, just wondering if any one could assist in identifying the hotels. 1. Chelsea - Madison Square Garden area - Comp breakfast, fitness, business center, and high speed with 95% recommended rate. my best guess is Holiday Inn Express NYC - Madison Square Garden. 2. Midtown Central Area - Smoke free, Business center and High Speed with a 75% recommended rate. I have no clue on this one... Any help would be appreciated.
  8. OK guys i had some success and some time so here are the details. Firstly let me say that two of us are coming into NYC both from different locations. one of us was staying was staying from the 17-22nd the other staying 18-21. at first staying together was a priority so i started bidding on 4* hotels in CPS,TS,MTE,MTW using the bidding zones starting from 120 up to about 200 for 2 rooms from 17-21 (3 nights). just recently i decided that splitting bid would be best and as a minimum we could target the same area. so... i started doing my research on HOTWIRE and PRICELINE to see what was out there and what was a good starting price. after a couple days of low bidding and monitoring ho.twire i posted this message about finding out if what i saw on HOTWIRE was the W hotel because the price dropped significantly and i was ready to book it. but again i figured i would give PRICELINE a shot first because generally i have always got a better deal there. my first bid was the 4 areas (ts,CPS,MTE,MTW) at 4* starting at 145 and on my first attempt i got the message to up my price to 180 and it would be accepted, but by doing my research and using betterbidding.com i knew i could get it for less, so i started adding rebid zones at 150, 155, 160, 170. i pinned the W Hotel on 541 lexington for 3 nights at $170. sweet one part out of the way. I knew the 5 nights (17-22) would be more difficult based on pricing for the 17th ans 20th. i started bidding on MTE since i wanted the hotel to be in the same vicinity. i started bidding at 170 with MTE only and added the 5 rebidding zones by $5 only to be rejected. so went back to look at rates per nights and noticed that Wednesday was the most expensive. I then changed the dates of my bid to 18-22 and started bidding at $170. after adding the first bid zone i got counteroffer to go to 205, but i continued to plug along at smaller increments and pinned the same hotel at 195. i knew it would be same area but same hotel was a bonus. i tried to extend the date on the front end but was rejected. And like usual i used the link on the website to PRICELINE. LT
  9. Ok, so i split the bids and pinned a hotel on priceline, can you guys move this thread over to priceline or do you want me to create a post and post the winning bids in a new thread?
  10. Hi guys, just looking to make a trip to NYC on the dates of Nov 18-21 three nights, I'm actually meeting someone there that i would like to help with purchasing their hotel as well, however their dates are Nov 17-22 five nights. firstly sorry I'm not sure if this post should be hotwire or Priceline forum as I've been checking both. i have been doing my research and used a fairly low bidding strategy for price line but i noticed this am that hotwire had a 4* hotel listed with fitness, business, restaurant, spa, high speed and 85% recommended. its was listed for $186. it looks to me like the W hotel, but i was just looking for confirmation it seems to be an awesome price. Also just wondering if you could add some advice for bidding on if i should try and book the 18-21 together or split bids and do the 5 nights and three nights separately? Thanks, LT
  11. Sorry little typo I noticed, hit at $145 not $150 on third time through for the 3.5*
  12. Just pinned a hotel today after my first try using the same bidding strategy but with different *'s. Originally I wanted only Copley area but expanded to the Quincy based on location and seeing hotwire prices and other websites showed very high rates. When I started Priceline it indicated the cost for 4* was $1250, which dropped to $259 when I selected 3.5*. I had booked at the Sheraton as a back up for 228/night I am more then happy with 145/night for this hotel... And of course as always supporting the website by using your PRICELINE link... Bidding strategy was long as I was looking for 4* and ran through this strategy twice before realizing this might not happen. I reviewed the previous pinned hotels and reviews thought I would take a shot at 3.5* it took me one time through the 3.5* to pin the Marriott Long Wharf. 4* Copley area starting at $105 Add rebid 110 Add rebid 115 Add rebid 120 Add rebid 125 4* Quincy area starting at $105 Add rebid 110 Add rebid 115 Add rebid 120 Add rebid 125 4* Copley & Quincy area starting at $130 Add rebid 135 Add rebid 140 Add rebid 145 Add rebid 150 I then changed to 3.5* and did the same the only difference was that at 135 I was offered to increase $22 for guaranteed hotel, I declined and rebid two more times and hit at $150 Have a good one guys, I hope this helps someone else...
  13. Thanks to everyone for their feedback and support. I kept trying to book through hotwire and continued to get error messages so in an effort to keep my costs within budget I also dabbled with Priceline. After a couple of days I was successful in pinning a Priceline hotel. Details of the price line hotel are: 4 Stars Hyatt Regency Chicago Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area 1 night - 06/08/08-06/09/08 Cost $150 per night 1st attempt NMA @ $150 2nd Attempt NMA & Airport @ $155 3rd Attempt MPLGA @$150 Sorry for the combined Hotwire & Priceline thread, I thought this would be the most logical place to update my "Story"... By the Way I also utilized the link on the site to support this site!!!! Have a great Day...
  14. Thanks for the help, i supported the HOTWIRE Link and unfortunately got the following error after going through all the steps... i guess i will try again tomorrow... "We couldn't process your request. We're sorry, but the itinerary you selected is no longer available. Your card has not been charged. We apologize for the inconvenience. You may retry your search by modifying your date, neighborhood or select another hotel within a different star category and we will search all other hotels to find the best available hot-RateSM. Note that this price is not guaranteed until the purchase is complete. Hotwire Customer Care Associates will not be able to assist you with this problem. Error #405"
  15. I need a little help identifying the following hotel, I have some idea that it is the Hyatt Regency but due to the limited information I am not certain. Any help would be appreciated. Date: June 8/08 - June 9/08 one night 4 Stars in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville $189 at 32% savings Customer fav, Best Value Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access Traveler Rating(4.0 out of 5) Based on:120+ customer reviewsLast Reviewed:March 2008 Thanks in Advance...
  16. Just wanted to post my winning bid. I utilized the Savingsbarn link and the typically strategy for a resort style hotel. I was actually targeting the Hilton, but was unsure if I could get it because of the dates of my stay. Bidding strategy was: Resort in Marina starting at $110 Add rebid zone 1 - $115 Add rebid zone 2 - $120 Add rebid zone 3 - $125 Add rebid zone 4 - $130 Add rebid zone 5 - $135 Add rebid zone 6 - $140 Next day tried again starting at $135 Resort in Marina Add rebid zone 1 - $140 Add rebid zone 2 - $145 Add rebid zone 3 - $150 Add rebid zone 4 - $155 - Successful!!!!
  17. Thank you, to all that posted and helped with information regarding my accommodation options. In the end I decided not to stay the weekend, after exhausting many options provided by the board. The high rates didn't justify me extending my time in Chicago; instead I will come again on a different weekend... Thanks again,
  18. The reverse look up indicates the Hilton Towers Chicago in Chicago and lists it as "on request"
  19. Thereuare, what are your thoughts about EasyClickTravel travel?? I saw a hotel on there for $153/night
  20. Actually I am on my own Thursday night for business in the Marriott O'Hare, and need a place to stay with my wife for Fri, Sat and Sun (hopefully closer to the mile). I have read on some hotel reviews that the commute is about an hour by train from the airport on a good day and can be a real pain. It would be ok to split my bid, as long as it is only twice and not for every night. Is it possible to split Fri. night airport and Saturday and Sunday in the city? Let me rephrase, based on the Saturday occupancy what do you think are the best splitting options?
  21. OK first let's start with thereuare. I have tried both the loop and MNA for up to $150 obviously with no success. I am willing to expand my search but I am not familiar with the area and don't know how accessible or how far other areas are to the Mile. AJB, I appreciate the effort, hopefully I can get lucky and not have to cancel the trip. I will be flying in and do not have access to a car (unless it makes for a more sensible option, but parking is expensive in downtown). I am willing to look at other areas but transportation (train or reasonable cab) would be a must. Thanks again...
  22. Gentlemen, Can anyone lend some support and help me with some ideas for a hotel in the MNA area for the dates of 08/31-09/03? I know the jazz festival is going on and this is last minute. I have tried both hotwire and priceline, unfortunately due to room availability I have had no luck with different bid strategies on priceline and the choices for hotwire were just a bit expensive. My max bid was $150, but I really would like to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $125-$130. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks,
  23. Just pinned the follow up to my NYC thread, I needed a Thursday night when I arrived and didn't want to pay the price for a NYC hotel. Bidding history as follows based on information from verve for the same night: Day 1 Bid Jersey City 3* @ $60 - rejected rebid at $65 - rejected. 24 hrs later Bid Jersey City 3* @ $70 - Accepted Hyatt regency
  24. FYI, I decided that since we are arriving late on Thursday in Newark, to stay one night in Jersey City and traveling to NYC in the AM, rather than pay the price for NYC hotel for that night. For information on this bid I have posted detail under the Hyatt Jersey City thread.
