  1. Thanks for the reply! Since I will be in the city only for 2 nights, I did not want to lose time by moving from one hotel to another. If I would have been there longer, then splitting my stay would have been okay.
  2. Last night I saw the hotel on Hotwire, too, but because of the reviews I didn't consider booking it. After so many days of unsuccessful trying on Priceline, I just booked a hostel. I didn't want to spend more time on bidding and $150+ per night on accommodation. Thank you for the replies and advice!
  3. Thank you for the replies! On MAPS and HOTELS.com, currently the prices are the following: (2* Red Roof Inn: $160) 2.5*: $194, $200, ... 3*: $171, $182, ... 3.5*: $179, $194, $194, $194, ... 4*: $199, $203, ... Hotwire using BiddingHelper.com: 3*: $135, $168, $175, ... 3.5*: $141, $170, ... 4*: $178, $188, ... Hotels.com using BiddingHelper.com: 3*: $157, $164, $165, $178, ... 3.5*: $171, $179, $179, $179, $179, $183, $184, ... 4*: $141, $143, $175, $175, $176, $187, $188, $189, ... What do you think based on this? Is the $110-$130 price range on PRICELINE realistic or lower/higher than that? Thanks!
  4. Hello, In the past 1-2 weeks I have been trying to bid on a hotel in Chicago for 2 nights, between 7/26 and 7/28. I would like to stay either in the "Millenium Park, Loop, Grant Park" or "North Michigan Avenue - River North" area. Any 2.5* or higher hotel would be fine. Based on the reviews I have read about the 1* and 2* hotels, I think it is better to avoid them (correct me if I'm wrong). My aim was to find a room for less than a total of $110-$120 per night (incl. all taxes). I have been trying with bids between $50 and $95, but with no success. Today was the first time that I tried bidding on a 2.5* hotel with up to $85, but I did not get anything. Any ideas what price would be realistic for this time period and these areas? Thank you! PS: I'm aware of free-bid areas and used them when bidding.
  5. Thank you for your advice! We will then just be on the safe side and book for 3 people (so Priceline is excluded).
  6. Thank you for the reply! Regarding point 1): I've had good experience with larger hotels, when I asked for a room with two separate beds instead of 1 large bed. But as you say it's not guaranteed, that it will work. Worst case scenario: for 1 or 2 nights a queen/king bed for 3 people would do the job, too (not ideal, but doable). The problem can be rather point 2). Are there in your opinion hotels where they strictly check the number of people per room? It's not necessary that all 3 of us go to the front desk during check in. I'm asking because I'm not sure how big of an issue this could be. We are looking at 2 nights NYC, 1 night Philadelphia, 2 nights Washington DC and 2 or 3 nights San Francisco.
  7. Thanks for the reply! I know that and I would like to book a double room (i.e. not indicate during booking that we will be 3 people). I was just wondering whether we can get some problems in some of the hotels because of that? E.g. that they refuse to let us stay in the double room if they see that we are 3 people.
  8. Hello, I will have a longer (multiple cities) family holiday with my parents and will probably book the hotels through Hotwire or Priceline (of course, using the links from the forum :) ). I was thinking about simply booking double/twin rooms, because the beds are usually big enough and we would have no problems with that. Do you think that we could get any problems if the 3 of us stay in a double/twin room? Any other issues to consider in this case? Thank you!
