Ended up going with the 3.5 start for about $10 when tax is factored in. Total was $94. As Aaron earlier stated, the 4 star hotel was always going to be Westin.. But was not impressed with reviews especially complaints of the small room/bathroom sizes... Also, the location seems to be at the edge of downtown Columbus.. Knew it will most likely be the Crown plaza.. Also tried using priceline but once my bid got up to $85 (tax included) and no wins, i decided to go with hotwire given that I was more confident of what Hotel i might end up getting.. Better location. For one night, it will do.. Also, I think hotwire has the Sheraton on capitol square listed as a 3.5 star hotel while priceline has it listed as 4 stars (maybe due to recent renovations).

Decided to use priceline. Got the above hotel on my first bid of $80. Somewhat dissapointed (mixed reviews on trip advisor and not my top location) but I get to save significantly. Location not bad. About 5 mins drive to Adams morgan. I must say that i did make an error in including two districts under my first bid. I included both dupont circle and White house - downtown (my 1st choice). Shoudl have started with downtown only. O well, thanks guys.. Again, the saving is the most important thing as I can work within my budget.. P.S: sorry for the double threads.. Made a mistake in reporting.

search on priceline found the hotel (Omni) for $143/night (tax not included). i decided to use name your price to possible get a lower price. Started my bidding at $110 (Possibly a bit naive). I got a return to improve the bid by at least $27 to a make it $137/night (pretty much same as the originally listed price of $143/night). The positive was that i was not prompted to add or check a different zone hence I knew my bidding was not far off.. Initially, i could not enter any figure lower than the $137 that was recommended so i decided to restart search and bidding from scratch. A tip I used to narrow down the possible hotels was to filter the original search down to 4 star hotels in downtown LA with price range $100 - $200. 4 hotels came up for which the Omni was listed among them. Also, the omni had the lowest price at $143. Using this info -I knew most likely i will be getting the Omni hotel. I proceeded to rebid at $125 (probably could have done 120) and it returned with Omni as the winning bid.. Saved about 13% compared to third party booking. Omni website has same date priced for about $175/night... I am somewhat satisfied with the result. Can the admins kindly update my hotwire thread for this same trip. Thanks. FYI - The Millenium Biltmore is listed as 3 1/2 * in priceline but possibly listed as a 4* in Hotwire..

My apologies about the date confusion. First, kindly ignore the first date (5/10-5/13). I tried to edit it but could not find the option to do so. Kindly edit the topic heading. I plan on staying from 5/10-5/17. For financial reason, I plan on splitting it up to 5/10-5/14 and 5/14-5/17 hence the two different dates/hotel options. I did not want to open multiple threads. FYI - The 4* Downtown hotel has "best value" guarantee while the 3* hotel has bother "Super saving" and "Best Value" guarantee. Thanks
