  1. Went up to $77 with all the other 4* areas. Added San Mateo and first bid of $60 was accepted. Hopefully it's a nice place and didn't miss out too much by not staying in San Fran. Just a lil bit of buyer remorse. Used the PRICELINE link to start the purchase.
  2. Needed an airport hotel before a flight out of PDX. $65 first bid accepted, maybe I should've tried lower, but not too shabby for a $100 retails room. Used the PRICELINE link.
  3. Amenities listed were Fitness, Business, Restaurant. I thought I was getting The Marquette, turns out it's the Radisson, not disappointed it's a nice place and only 2 blocks away from the Target Center where I'm attending a concert Saturday night. I chose the Hotwire route because some of the same hotels listed as 4* on Priceline are actually 3* on Hotwire, had that happen to me once before while looking for a nicer place. <edit> Advertised price on radisson.com $169 1 room(s) @ $112.00 per night x 2 night(s) $224.00 Hotel Taxes and fees: $31.90 Hotel Subtotal $255.90 Total Price $255.90 </edit> Thanks,
  4. 3* Millennium Hotel Minneapolis Downtown Minneapolis 1313 Nicollett Mall Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403 612-332-6000 Your Offer Price: $53.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $106.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $21.15 Total Charges: $127.15 I bid up to $87 for a 4* Airport/MofA and St. Paul using free re-bids with no success. I stopped, bid 3* Minneapolis Downtown $47 rejected. Added free re-bid zone, bid $53 bid accepted by the Millennium. I was hoping to get another one of the downtown hotels like the Marquette or the Hilton but oh well.. rate listed on Expedia as $88 a night, so not a bad deal. Based on descriptions on Hotwire packages: 3.5* Downtown Minneapolis (Downtown Areas) Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service) listed for $66 for my dates is most likely the Millennium. 4* Downtown Minneapolis (Downtown Areas) Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Business Center. listed for $105 for my dates is most likely the Maruette, only Mpls Downtown hotel I could find that didn't have a pool. It was listed for $65 when I checked 2 days ago :) Thanks for the help! I can't edit the post to be a win-report format maybe thereuare can do that. I used savingbarn for this purchase :)
  5. Thanks for the help with the bidding strategy. Weekend plans are changing and we might not be in Mpls, if we end up going and booking a hotel I'll report back my results.
  6. Sorry I posted 2 threads because one was a HW question and the other a PL, but I'll make sure to keep that in mind in the future :) For PL, I'm thinking max bid of $65 since I can get a 4* for that much on HW. Does that seem reasonable? The zones for PL either (Airport - Mall of America Vicinity) or (St. Paul), the only 2 zones with 4* hotels. Thanks for your quick reply thereuare
  7. Hello, I'm looking for a nice hotel in Minneapolis for this coming weekend 9/3/05-9/5/05 I'm thinking a 4*, I don't have a preference for the area anywhere in Minneapolis is fine. The only two PL regions that show 4* hotels for my dates are the (Airport - Mall of America Vicinity) and (St. Paul). So I have quite a few free re-bid zones. Your help with a bidding strategy would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have any tips or information on nice hotels in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area that might not be 4* please do share :) Thanks and let me know if I left any needed information out.
  8. Dates: 09/3-5/05 Hotel listed as (best value) rate: $65 Downtown Minneapolis (Downtown Areas) Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Business Center. Thank you!
  9. Review for our stay at the Orlando Hilton in the WDW Resort can be found in the review section under F. Thanks for all the help on the forum! Keep up the great work guys :)
  10. Got this hotel for 3 nights 8/25-28/2005 for a $62 bid on priceline. We checked in a little after 10 PM and I was excited to try the $20 tip/bribe that i read so much about on BB to try and get an upgrade. The staff member the frontdesk wasn't friendly at all and made me apprehensive of trying the tip trick, I did ask if upgrades were available and she was quick to say that everything is booked, we had to choose between 2 queen non-smoking and a king bed smoking room. We went with the king smoking room (the smoking smell in the room was unnoticeable). The hotel is dated, very much so, it's barely a 3-star establishment. I think priceline should give users the option of only selecting a 4-star hotel without automatically adding Resorts, because this particular resort is definitely not a 4-star. The room was ok size, mostly clean (there was a pretty nasty looking stain on the curtain lining). Construction was being done and there was a ladder and ropes just outside the "balcony" of our 2nd floor room window (a balcony that we couldn't access) didn't feel too great about that cause anyone could've climbed in. The pool area can use a little maintenance, in the Jacuzzi only one jet was working properly and the rest didn't have any pressure. Staff were generally ok, front desk staff could be a little friendlier and more helpful, upon given a smoking-room I jokingly asked if it'd smell too bad and was told that in Europe people smoked everywhere and she couldn't really notice the smell of smoke (the lady checking us in was from Germany) one housekeeping staff member was baffled by a request to change the sheets. But on the previous night, a note asking to change the sheets with a tip got us fresh sheets and even turn down service which was nice (I'm assuming that was different housekeeping staff). The bathroom was old, and a little awkward the vent in the bathroom didn't work at all everything got foggy after showers. They had the towels sitting on a shelf inside the bathtub area where they'd get wet when showering. There was a sink outside the bathroom which was nice when both of us were trying to get ready. The mainstreet market in the hotel is convenient, we were craving cookies and milk one night and it was very nice to be able to go down stairs and get some at 2 in the morning. 2 very large and excellent cookies with two little cartons of milk were for $6.08 which to me is very reasonable for the convenience. There weren't any resort or parking fees added, and we managed to find parking spots every night although it was a few minutes walk from the hotel sometimes. Maybe this hotel was a 4-star 10 years ago, it's definitely not anymore so keep that in mind when bidding in that area. If given the choice between this Hilton and a real 4-star we would not stay here again.
  11. Thanks for the answer thereuare. That's what I thought, PL considers a resort > 4* However, in this particular case this resort is rated as 3 1/2* both on Expedia and Hotels.com which I believe is a little questionable on the part of PL. Anyway, I got a lot better understanding of how all this works. I can't wait to book my next hotel!
  12. Thanks for the welcome :) Ok well.. I feel stupid for not reading a little more of the forum before bidding. So I wasn't really aware of priceline rules (first time user) or the free re-bid process. What I was looking for was a 4* in Sea World/Universal are when my first bid of $55 was rejected. I included the WDW LBV area, not to get a free re-bid but because of proximity to desired location. And my second offer bid of $62 was accepted by Hilton WDW Resort. My question still stands though, are all resorts considered 4*+? Because I didn't change my star rating I kept at 4* when submitting my second bid, but resorts was automatically selected.
  13. Let me say start by saying thanks for the great forum! Excellent information. Just got this on priceline this morning, I am kind of annoyed that priceline automatically selects Resorts when you're looking for a 4* hotel, what's the deal with that? Cause if I'm not mistaken the WDW Hilton Resort is a 3-3 1/2*. I think it's a pretty good deal though. Offer Price: $62.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $186.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $32.17 Total Charges: $218.17
