  1. :) Was hoping to nail a 3rd stay at the Sydney Marriott on Hyde Park, guess I won't use the 3* category to speed up the bidding in Sydney again. The might be the first published instance of a 3* hotel accepting a bid in Sydney. $219.88 all in for 2 nights.
  2. all-in $175 for both nights Some friends got this for $72/night ($70 & $71 were rejected) but I neglected to read their posts elsewhere first, so < $75 is a possibility here Used the PRICELINE link on your home page.
  3. No brekkie but otherwise a step up from the Hampton Inn. Looking forward to next weekend (2 nights here). :)
  4. You are correct. The PL paperwork is showing it as a Garden Inn. Thanks again!
  5. You are correct. It's a Garden Inn. Thanks for pointing that out. I'd had get get there about 2-3 a.m. Monday morning looking for the wrong place!! Hope there's breakfast ....
  6. 2 nights, offered $39/night, all-in $95.33 for both nights Note that this is at the Hampton Inn on Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, not the one in Lombard (see also my prev. post tonight). Again a better location for our Sunday activities (this time it's not just a crash pad -- we actually have something to do in Chitown :) )
  7. 1 night, offered $39, all-in $51.01 But the surprise: This is a different Hampton Inn than what has been recently accepting these $39 bids in this district. This Hampton Inn is at: Hilton Garden Inn Oakbrook Terrace 1000 Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois 60181 Previous $39 stays were at the Lombard Hampton Inn: Hampton Inn Chicago/Lombard (Oak Brook Area) 222 East 22nd Street Lombard, Illinois 60148 So new place, same price, and actually a better location.
  8. check in 4/26/08, out 4/27/08 offered $31 all-in $42.03
  9. 3 nights @ $60 + $39.54 tax & service fees all-in $219.54 Originally bid 2.5* $45 to 55 in $2 increments, gunning for Staybridge Suites in downtown SAT, no luck Added airport area still @ $55, no luck Added SAT Northwest @ $57, no luck Added SAT North @ $60, bingo
  10. Two separate one-night stays (4/4 and 4/6, all in $51.02 (up 12 cents from the last time, inflation must be biting PRICELINE)
  11. On the 2nd call to Priceline (office that handles this stuff was closed in the early morning hours), they put me on hold for quite a while and arranged an 11 a.m. check-in at the original Hyatt Place. The daytime staff were apologetic & helpful, as was the manager (although he indicated he wished they cut off Priceline earlier). Besides calling as thereuare suggests (even when you might normally think it not necessary), I'd recommend people winning this location be prepped for these substitutions and have Priceline's 800# handy (it's not on the confirmations!). As substitutions go, the Grand Hyatt's not a bad deal if you can work in the hotel switch on day 2. Be cautious with this place but stand your ground & it should work out. Now I mainly need to work on my caffeine level to make it through the rest of the evening.
  12. I consider 1 a.m. to be within that first night. No special notice was required to the hotel. We routinely check in to our hotels up to ~ 3 a.m.
  13. This Hyatt Place, as we learned, isn't above renting your prepaid/guaranteed for late arrival room to someone else and only referring you to another hotel one day at a time. It wasn't until 3 a.m. that we were finally checked into the Grand Hyatt, but only for one night -- tomorrow morning we have to return to Hyatt Place & beg for the balance of our prepaid stay. The dip at the front desk refused to guarantee a late morning checkin or even that we receive the balance of our 3-day stay. If you don't mind getting kicked around from hotel to hotel (wherever they happen to have space) it might work out (the 12th floor of the Grand Hyatt's not bad :):) ), but we have a full day of activiities planned tomorrow until the very late evening hours (& a friend in Hyatt Place depending on us for a ride) so this just really jerks us around at this point
  14. Good luck with this reservation.... see my negative experience in my Priceline Tampa Hyatt Place thread.

  16. Don't remember, but after that earlier stay we are heading south to Hobart & Melbourne. This bid is for two final days in Sydney at the end of the trip. Won't have time to do any more on this one until maybe next week.
  17. Another repeat, all-in $50.90 Used the link in SavingsBarn.com
  18. $135/night bid, taxes & service fees $72.57, all-in $612.57
  19. Got a reject tonight for 4* Melbourne $130 for 5/26/08 - 5/30/08, PL countered at + $22. That probably means the Marriott at $152 is possible since there's no other hotel w/ a known recent record of accepting bids in Melbourne. Price went up a bit for my Plan B (probably currency fluctuations), so I will add $5 to my 4* bid in a day or two. What's the rush, man, ... :) The Melbourne Marriott's track record is at $130, but I believe those are all in 2007.
  20. Repeating a past win, all-in $50.89 Used the link in SavingsBarn.com
  21. Bid $66, all-in $81.90 Bidding history: 2/13: $60 2.5* Waikiki Beach Area/Waikiki City Central/Waikiki Marina rejected 2/15: $63 2.5* Waikiki City Central rejected 2/15: $66 2.5* +Waikiki Marina Area accepted Used the link in SavingsBarn.com
  22. Only bid for these dates so far. The Marriott's web site is asking $295AUD daily for this weekend at the Hyde Park Marriott (College St.), more normal weekday rate is $212.Is something happening in Sydney on that weekend?
  23. Bid $120/night, all-in price $410.61 Used the link in SavingsBarn.com
