  1. I realize this coming weekend is a busy weekend in New York, but I'm looking for a room for the Sunday/Monday following the weekend. Ideally, we want to stay in Soho at a 4* establishment -- but as an alternative, we're willing to stay 4* at a Mid-town location.

I'm having a hard time getting a sense of how expensive these dates are going to be. So far based previous posts, I've bid on PL:

    1) 4* (Downtown - SoHo - Financial District) - $200 -- rejected

    2) 4* (Downtown - SoHo - Financial District) - $230 -- rejected

Before I start bidding up further, does anyone have a good idea as to what the appropriate price point for these dates are?

  2. This is a new one to add to the Priceline Hotel List. (admin?)

I've was hunting for a place to stay for one Saturday night (12-Nov-05) during peak Resort season in Arizona -- I had Scottsdale in mind specifically. I started bidding at $96, $106 and $116 and was finally accepted at $126 ($150.11 after taxes). I used the downtown area and the airport to get extra bidding in.

Warning: if you start bidding by clicking on 4* hotels, resort button will be checked automatically. The better strategy might be start bidding for a Resort and then click on 4* (assuming you're willing to stay at a resort classified as a 4* hotel).

PS: I forgot to use SavingsBarn.com -- sorry!

  3. This is for a Friday to Thursday stay, and I walked my bid all the way from $53 to $65 before it was accepted. The last bid that was rejected was at $63.

It seems to make a big difference for this property whether you are staying in the weekday or weeknight. It's an airport hotel, afterall. For what I believe to be the same hotel, on hotwire is was $77, $77, $71 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and became $104, $128, $123 on Mon, Tue, Wed nights.

  4. I've frequently used downtown LA hotels for my work -- but I still haven't found a good place to park. Hotel parking run generally $25 or $30 per night (with free in/out previledges) and public parking in the area typically charge $15 for overnight parking. Even motorcycles get charged these rates. An alternative is to park on the street and risk getting towed at 8am.

Does anyone know of a good alternative or good places to park?

  5. Another late post, but better late than never....

I tried lower bids first (upto $80) and then won at $85.

  6. I'm posting this late, but I also got this off of Priceline.

PS: I didn't think the Millennium Biltmore was anywhere nearly as nice as Westin Bonaventure, which is also another 4* hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Compared to the Bonaventure, the Bilmore is older, has thinner walls (can hear traffic) and less comfortable beds.
