  1. Hotel was quite nice. Hotel was near enough to one location of our favorite restaurant Goode and Co Seafood that we got take out there. A good dog park was a ten minute drive away. There is a HEB Grocery and a Kroger less than 10 min drive. McDonald's is on the corner right across the parking lot. Pool is on the small side and a hot tub by it seemed to be bubbling away everytime I saw it. We were given late checkout at 1pm after asking. The hotel has a bar and restaurant that we did not try.
  2. Wasn't expecting to get a hotel on Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8) when bidding Brookhollow. This is pretty far from anything in town. Hoping the reports of mildewed carpet is overblown or resolved. Pet friendly...no charge except under the conditons that 1) other guests complain about noise or 2) pet makes a mess and then it's $200 for either fault. Bid $45 prior to winning bid. $62.45 with taxes and fees.
  3. Got this with the current promo of $20 off. So with tax and fees $157.57. Hotel Amenities Free Internet Airport shuttle Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Internet access Golf nearby Spa services The promo code is the only savings I got on this as it could have been booked at $152 plus tax on another site. It is recently renovated. Glad for the airport shuttle.
  4. This appears to be a new hotel for your list. the 3* Inn of Chicago is an Ascend Hotel. It is a block off Magnificent Mile, more than a block from nearest Red Line stop, rooms are said to be small in reviews, some rooms are renovated. Location is good, we'll see about the room. Bid $39 plus $5 bonus for 3* just prior to this bid of $43 plus bonus for 2.5*...both bids in N Mich / River N.
  5. This is a new hotel for the list. Started at $75 plus bonus and got the Try Again and add $ message and started over a couple times with re-bids, including one for $80 plus bonus, until I won at $82 plus bonus cash (came out to $6.67 a night). The original bid again offer was $90 so I didn't beat it by much. I we saved $300...they usually include "free breakfast" at the usual rate, but the breakfast is valued there at $19 a person. We'll likely eat elsewhere for breakfast. Hotel is rated well and a call to the hotel confirmed no resort fees or parking fees, free wi-fi and a very nice attitude from the desk cleark even though I mentioned Priceline as my booking engine.
  6. This same hotel came up this past weekend for $52 or so. Glad I procrastinated. 3* Holiday Inn Amenities: Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business
  7. I've been researching the parking question and saw a posting that said parking is free at Harrah's for 24 hrs when you gamble for 30 min. and have your parking validated. May try it next month.
  8. First bid. Very nicely remodeled. Had stayed here when it was a Hilton and would stay again. Just off the north end of hwy 100.
  9. First bid in this zone. Lowest rate on Hilton.com is $316 pre-paid on this night. This is a new hotel for your list. Gets great reviews on TripAdvisor at #22 out of all London hotels. Right next to DLR...handy to take this rail to London City airport the next morning. Very satisfied with this result. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$115.00 Subtotal: US$115.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$28.54 Total Charges: US$143.54 Bid many times leading up to this in several zones with failing results - notably Mayfair and Westminster 5* $150 (drew a counteroffer today of $254 and previously of $205), 4* Mayfair, Bloomsbury-Marble Arch, Islington, City-Financial up to $105 before adding Docklands on a hunch and winning there at $115. Got counteroffers of $177 (possibly Hilton Trafalgar) with any 4* bid in Mayfair. That might give a guide for anyone looking for 4* in Mayfair on that date. Happy bidding, Frenchie Flyer
  10. Sorry, I've been on vacation and just now saw the question. Yes, I did as you suggested. I don't know if the hotel is available at the same or comparable regular rate or even HOTWIRE rate as it was on the date I bid for. Try again after 24 hrs would be my suggestion. Good luck, Frenchie Flyer
  11. Bid $57 just prior to this winning bid. That first bid was met with the if you bid $17 more you can bid again notice. This hotel was available for $69 on HOTWIRE and that was how I determined to bid this way. Total with tax and fees $78.04.
  12. Needed something with a shuttle to ORD and got it. Bid just prior to this winning one was $49 that gave the notice that if I would raise my bid by $14 I could bid again. I didn't have any luck with the 4* for $45 that some have gotten this summer. I had bid 4* up to $55 in the ORD zone and got the notice of raise your bid now by $15. I didn't want to go any higher. Also bid up to $30 for 2* and got the raise by $8 notice...I was afraid I'd get one of those Extended Stay places that doesn't have a shuttle. Offer $53 Taxes and Fees $15.29 Total $68.29 Frenchie Flyer
  13. Finally bit the bullet and bid on this area after multiple failures up to $85 in the Dupont area for these and split dates. I've stayed here before when you could get this for $35 (4 yrs ago). Am pleased about the value for the money in this current market. Near the Union Station for Metro and food as well as the Capital Bldg and National Mall. Frenchie Flyer
  14. You could check the winning bids here for similar dates. Keep in mind that weekends are usually cheaper than weekdays. You can see what the reviews are here and on Trip Advisor. You probable don't need a vehicle as the Metro makes getting around easy. It is a notoriously expensive city for hotels. I haven't found much relief on that in the suburbs connected to the Metro either, but you might get lucky on Priceline or Hotwire. I've had some luck checking for promotions on the hotels websites - you might focus on 2* and 2.5* where you are more likely to get free breakfast. Good luck. Frenchie Flyer
  15. I'm bidding similar dates and if you need back up options here are some: Hamilton Crowne Plaza - $98 weekend rate on AAA Wyndham DT $108 webrate - non-refundable, pre-paid or $123 cancellable AAA rate. This property has almost completed it's remodel to transition to a Westin. Marriott has the m11 promo code that gives you $50 coupon for 1 night stay or $100 coupon for 2 night stays for future use - so you could do a mini mattress run for the coupons and combine it with this promotion: http://www.marriottbonuspoints.com/ Get 2000 bonus points starting on your 2nd stay for each stay at select Marriott properties in the DC area through 3/31/07. See the Marriott website for all the rates, ect. Some have free breakfast and internet access. Have a nice trip! Frenchie Flyer
  16. After bidding 2.5* in Des Moines W up to $38, I decided to try for a 2* and got it on the first bid. This is a one night stay. Sorry I left off the hotel - Extended Stay America Des Moines - Urbandale
  17. An acquaintance got this hotel last week. His bill was: Price per night: (excluding tax recovery charges and fees) $42.00 room night Tax recovery $11.66 Total $53.66 This shows up on Hotwire with the amenities Kitchenette and Laundry. His report of his stay was that it was OK other than the noisy train crossing which is at the corner. He woke up at every whistle blow that night.
  18. Your Offer Price: $40.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.91 Total Charges: $51.91 First bid Rochester DT 3* $45. Rejected. Second bid added 2* and $40 and won. Lowest price room on hotel website is $74. Priceline calls this Kahler Economy Inn and Suites.
  19. First bid was $25. No patience or strategy except needed a room quick so bid $35 and won. This seems to go for $79 on their website. Don't have any more info than this - or would have posted it. Property is newer (not old) and per their website ( http://overlandpark.clubhouseinn.com/services.php) has the following - Services & Amenities Hotel services & amenities include: FREE hot breakfast buffet (served daily) FREE evening manager
  20. Yes, this was my first bid in this zone. I had bid $30 in OKC central and then added this and upped $2. It may be an overbid but I didn't have any rebidding available.
  21. Just completed a one night stay at Squaw Peak Hilton on a free night cert. They upgraded us to a Presidential Suite (there are around 30 of these). So wasn't punished at all for not spending a lot. These suites are two story and have a kitchenette, living/dining area and half bath. Upstairs is the bedroom and main bath. Two TVs also. Covered parking. Enjoyed our stay very much.
  22. First bid in this zone. This looks like a La Quinta that has been re-branded as Baymont. Web special is $53 on own brand website. Check-In Date: Sun, Nov 13, 2005 Check-In Time: After 01:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Nov 14, 2005 Your Offer Price: $32.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $32.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.67 Total Charges: $43.67
  23. Bid up from $40 with various rebids and at $54 got a message to up my bid by $15. Ignored that and raised by $1 and bingo. I did try different dates and the 18th-19th seems to be the sticking point during the week. Winning bid - $55 Rooms - 1 Number of nights - 2 Subtotal - $110.00 Tax and Fees - $24.60 Total charge - $134.60
