  1. Just a side note for your win. Palms charges a $20 a night resort fee that is NOT included in the rate for each night AND the Playboy Club is no more. Closed back in June 2012. They took the Playboy logo off the tower as well. So just letting you know. Also the Gold Coast next to the Rio has a terrific breakfast buffet for $6 only. And the casino is always busy and a TGI Fridays there too. I have stayed at all 3 properties and been out and about walking from each Hotel late at night, always people around, safe too.
  2. I cancelled the trip. Cost for the hotel is above my budget. Next time I will book the hotel before the airfare. Thanks guys for the help, much appreciated.
  3. Wow for November those are some high rates, I might see if I can cut my trip back to two days instead of three with those rates. If I can get something for $130 then I will be happy, but really $155+ is a bit out of my price range. If all else fails I will cancel this trip, use the airline credit for Chicago or somewhere else. Being I am travelling solo, the cost for 3 nights/days and the airfare really leaves me with no fun as I will have to watch how much I spend. Adding in the event tickets too. Glad I found this out now. I was thinking I could get a good deal for max $110 being it is November.
  4. Well seen as I am attending two, possibly three events if there is no NHL Lockout, for that weekend the least expensive, but decent hotel would be fine. I will hardly be in the room with Saturday being two events attended back to back and then Sunday out at the Patriots football game. Let me know what I might have to bid for a 4*, 3.5* and 3* that is decent. I just do not want to have to spend $150 a night for 3 nights when I am spending about that for each ticket to the events. BUT if I have to then I will, just would like to find a clean, decent, well located hotel.
  5. Ok my budget is $110 a night and I will settle with a 3* to 4* Let me know if that is ok or should I be increasing my budget max? Thanks
  6. OK decided to try and bid for my room. No luck yet. Boston Common 4* Bid-$85--rejected Bid-$88--added Beacon Hill--rejected Bid-$90--added Copley Square--rejected Bid-$95--added Quincy Market--rejected Bid-$100--added Harbour Front--rejected Will try again with a 3.5 star tomorrow. Wanted to start with a 4 star and see what I could possibly get. Just didn't have enough time to do it all again today with 3.5 star.
  7. I am not too familiar at all with the hotels in Boston, so before I bid, I need a bit of input on what is good, when to bid, what rates I might be looking at. Then I can gauge it from there.
  8. The Boston celtics and Bruins will play at the TD Bank Garden, Patriots out at Gillette Stadium. I found out there is a train that takes you from South Station and Back Bay Station to the Patriots game on game days.
  9. Dates are set, flight is booked Friday November 16th-Monday November 19th. Will be attending the Celtics game on Sat Nov 17th, "if there is no NHL Lockout" will attend the Bruins game Sat Nov 17th and will attend the Patriots game Sun Nov 18th. Need info on hotel. Where would be best to stay, what the possible rates would be say for a 4 star. When would be the best time to bid for a hotel? Thanks guys in advance.
  10. I am curious about how some results have been for bidding on Priceline for airfare. Done three times for hotels in Chicago but never tried airfare. I would probably do Tuesday to Sunday. Airfare is running us anywhere from $435 and up for return from Toronto with Air Canada and Westjet. Not sure about finding anything less at all. How much less would it possibly be bidding?
  11. Just back from my stay at The Blackstone and wow, this property is so beautiful. The staff are top notch and I loved the decor in the lobby and how there was a pool table in the lobby. Definitely would stay here again, no complaints at all. Thanks guys for helping get this and my next trip to Chicago will be booked from here.
  12. Just got back from my stay and well this place was great! I had maybe a slight minor one but I am sure it is common in many hotels. The bed wasn't all that comfy but then again sleeping away from home isn't always. But damn, could not complain about the location, the staff, the room. And when my friend and I had got there Tues, then headed out after checking in, we cameback and there was two bottles of Evian water, some chocolate toffee and a nice card from the Hyatt sitting on the desk. I would definitely stay here again. Hope to win it on another trip. Thanks all for the amazing help on bidding. Next up is The Blackstone in August with another friend.
  13. I'm guesssing that the July 17-20 dates I got for the Hyatt at $95 are that this week is a busy week. Hyatt is showing up alot lately. Cannot wait to stay there and see how it is. This property is huge from what some say on the board. Great deal you got! Anyone know which tower is for check in? Not sure if we all will take the Orange Line into town but if we all do, is it the east tower or west tower?
  14. Well many reviews say they don't like it because it is geared towards conventioners on trip advisor. Not sure what someone would mean by that, it is a hotel to stay in, but someone I know in Chicago said it is a nice place, and that the hotel treats all its guests the same, be it conventioners or vacationers. I'm looking forward to my stay there.
  15. Nice win and awesome location too. I got it on a priceline win for $98 July 17th-20th. Seems the Hyatt is the hot place with 5 bids won in July.
  16. I noticed 4 recent wins for the Hyatt. They must have alot of empty rooms?
  17. It was like 20 minutes later I had an email from Porter Airlines so I seen that they extended the seat sale. I had come home from work and only having under an hour to bid for Sept dates, and at the sametime texting my friend to see if she was ok with Mid July, being it is only 2 1/2 weeks away, seen as I had no luck with the dates that week in Sept. But then time ran out on the seat sale. Not bad and I do like this location. So three trips this year, April-Renaissance on Wacker, July- Hyatt Regency on Wacker and August- Blackstone Renaissance.... Thanks you guys for all the help on the bidding process.
  18. Ok so after I posted my last post in the thread looking at Labour Day dates and then into September dates with no luck , I got an alert from Porter Airlines, that they extended their seat sale til July 3rd. So I fugured I would change my dates to July and see what I get. Here are my results Tue July 17th-Fri July 20th: NMA 4*--$70---rejected $75--w/Franklin--rejected $80--w/Skokie--rejected $85--w/Hyde Park--rejected $90--w/Lincoln Park--rejected $95--w/Midway North--rejected $98--w/ The Loop-------ACCEPTED!! Got The 4* Hyatt Regency in The Loop Area on Wacker Drive
  19. I won a priceline bid here too about an hour ago, close dates too, mine July 17th-July 20th and got it for $98. I stayed at the Renaissance down the street my last trip, I like this location. Congrats!
  20. Ok so after I posted my last post, I got an alert from Porter Airlines, that they extended their seat sale til July 3rd. So I fugured I would change my dates to July and see what I get. 21. Ok I decided to change my dates and here are my results: Tue Sept 18th-Fri Sept 21st: Tried these dates first Mon Sept 17th-Thu Sept 20th: Tried these dates second NMA 4*--$75--rejected $80--w/Franklin--rejected $85--w/Skokie--rejected $90--w/Hyde Park--rejected $95--w/Lincoln Park--rejected $100--w/Midway North--rejected $102--w/The Loop-rejected The Loop 4*--$75--rejected $80--w/Franklin--rejected $85--w/Skokie--rejected $90--w/Hyde Park--rejected $95--w/Lincoln Park--rejected $100--w/Midway North--rejected $103--w/NMA--rejected NMA & The Loop 4*--$80--rejected $85--w/Franklin--rejected $90--w/Skokie--rejected $95--w/Hyde Park--rejected $100--w/Lincoln Park--rejected $105--w/Midway North--rejected The seat sale with Porter Airlines is done so I will wait for another round of good seat sales and try these dates or maybe dates in October.
  22. Sounds good and I will check back with any progress for when I finalize any dates for a Boston trip.
  23. I had decided to move my dates to these two and look at rates. I might wait until mid winter then and go see a Bruins and Celtics games. Was hoping to do fall but the rates are really high so I am going to keep searching in late October and all of Nov. I will play around with dates seen as these two didn't fare well for me.
  24. Looking At Sun Sept 2nd-Wed Sept 5th I am now looking at not the whole labour day weekend but the last 2 days of it. Wondering though if there is any events happening that might make the rates higher than average. 3.5-4 star downtown or River North
  25. Not sure what Priceline will end up giving me, but looking at Hotwire, Priceline's Rates, Expedia and Hotels.com it seems the rates are quite high for this time of year, or is it because I am looking now? I was hoping for something around $100 being it is not spring or summer, but the rates seem to be really no different than summer rates. Is Boston more or less an popular destination all year round? Was hoping to catch a Bruins game..hmm. Any suggestions? I had looked at Sept originally but tossed that idea aside and thought later into fall.
