  1. I am definitely pleased. The location is perfect, only a 10 min walk to the festivities, and Marriott properties are always top notch. With how much the rate is booking it on the other travel sites, I think I definitely scored good with this. And I always figured getting the hotels out of the way now even though it is about 5 1/2 months away, is the right thing. The closer the time comes, the higher the rates will go and less availability as well.
  2. I have been trying to get a hotel in Ottawa for our Canada Day July 1st celebrations but have not been successful. I had bid on 4*, 3.5* and 3* and all the way up to $100 and no luck. So after 3 nights in a row I finally got a 4* for a great rate. I decided that my highest bod would be $115. I know this is a very busy time for Ottawa being our Nation's Capital with Canada Day celebrations so I upped it to that rate. Here is how my last bidding went and then this one Ottawa 4*-----------------$80----- declined added Gatineau East--$85------declined added Orleans----------$90------declined added Ottawa Airport-$95------declined added Gloucester-----$97------declined added Hampton Park--$99----declined added Ottawa West---$100---declined Ottawa 4*-----------------$95-----declined added Gatineau East--$100---declined added Orleans-----------$105--declined added Ottawa Airport--$110-----------------ACCEPTED---Marriott Ottawa Hotel...awesome location Total with taxes for the two night is $267 Canadian Dollars. If I booked it on Hotels.com/Expedia.ca/Marriott.com the it would have come to $533 total for the two nights. It is a 10 minute walk to Parliament Hill where all the Canada Day festivities will be going on. This completes my July 1st-Canada Day/July 4th-Independence Day trip. (Ottawa Tue June 30th-Thu July 2nd/Washington DC Thu July 2nd-Mon July 6th). Thanks again guys, this is getting pretty good. Now have my hotels for 2 trips all set thanks to you all.
  3. I didn't really think I would get anything for $100 or less at all. Be it 4*, 3.5* or 3* as I tried on previous occasions with no luck, so I did this as a "Take the chance and see" and wow, lucked out with a nice hotel located perfectly and getting to the events will be so simple.
  4. Attending two events in Detroit on back to back nights so I decided to it would be more convenient to stay in Detroit instead of Windsor this time. Started my bidding at $90 and was declined so I added the two rebid zones $90 declined and then $100 a was accepted. Wondering if I did get a deal for this property or not. Either way it is a nice hotel in an area with a lot of action and the People Mover that can take me to the Joe Louis Arena both nights. Downtown 4* $90----declined New Center $95---added and declined Taylor-Southgate $100---added and ACCEPTED
  5. Thanks to you all helping me over the past 3 years on strategies for bidding. I stayed at Omni Shoreham and Marriott Wardman on my last two trips, being my friends live out this way closer to Alexandria and Criystal City, it would be more convenient in that sense to meet up, also the airport right there and the Metro as well. I like this. Was not sure of I could have started lower than $80 but figured saving $14 a night compared to booking it without bidding is better than nothing.
  6. I was planning to do our Canada Day July 1st in our nation's capital Ottawa and do four days in DC for July 4th. I figured hotel rates will rise as the year goes on and why not get a good rate now. I decided since I will fly into Reagan and a couple of friends live closer to Crystal City area I would try for a hotel there. Hotels..com and Expe.dia have the Hilton Crystal City for $94 and so I figured I would try for less than that to start. I got it on the first try at $80 Canadian dollars. Not sure if I would have gotten for less than that but overall $379 Canadian dollars is the total cost. Where on Hotels..com and Expedia..ca the total would have been $425. Another reason for doing it now is that our Canadian Dollar is dropping in value and if I was to wait til say March the exchange rate will be much worse. Was $80 a good deal you think for this Hilton?
  7. Help ID 4* Reston-Sterling Dulles July 2-6 Wondering on Hotwire what this 4* would be. Would it possibly be Westin Reston Heights? Rate is $78 US using BiddingHelper.com tool. Not sure if it is the same one listed $94 Canadian Dollars Amenities are: Free Parking, Indoor Pool, Airport Shuttle, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet Access, Accessible for Visually Impaired, Accessible For Hearing Impaired, Accessible Path of Travel, In-Room Accessibility, Accessible Bathroom, Accessible Parking, Roll In Shower
  8. Although it is early, but seems rates are pretty reasonable for the July 4th time. What would this 4* be in Woodley Park-Dupont Circle area? Amenities: Indoor/Outdoor Pool, Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center Priceline Express has it at $117 Canadian Dollars a night. I had bid 4* and then 3.5* in the Woodley Park area up to $103 and no luck.
  9. Another concert came up at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, NY and so I decided to try Priceline again as I won the Marriott Gateway for another concert for one night in late February. I had the Ramada Niagara falls Fallsview booked for $149 for two nights but thought let's see what I can get with Priceline. Here is what I did. Niagara Falls- Clifton Hill 4*-----------$60 failed added Niagara On The Lake----------$65 failed added North Niagara Falls-------------$70 failed added St Catherines---------------------$75 failed added Welland----------------------------$80 failed added West Niagara Falls------------- $85 failed Niagara Falls- Fallsview Blvd 4*--------$65 failed added Niagara On The Lake------------ $70 failed added North Niagara Falls---------------$75 failed added St Catherines-----------------------$80 failed added Welland-------------------------------$85 failed added Clifton Hill----------------------------$88-----------------------WON Total with taxes $215 so well worth it. For $60 more total I think it is a steal over the Ramada. Thanks guys for the help a couple years ago showing me how to bid. Love it
  10. Heading to a concert over on the US side of Niagara Falls at the Seneca Niagara Casino, but always stay on our Canadian side. Here is my bidding: Niagara Falls- Clifton Hill 4*-------$60 failed added: Niagara On The Lake-----$65 failed North Niagara Falls--------$70 failed St Catherines----------------$75 failed Welland-----------------------$78 failed West Niagara Falls--------$80 failed Niagara Falls- Fallsview Blvd 4*-----$65 failed added: Niagara On The Lake---------$70 failed North Niagara Falls------------$75 failed St Catherines-------------------$80 failed Welland---------------------------$82 failed West Niagara Falls------------$85------------------WON Marriott Gateway is beside the Radisson and across from the Marriott Fallsview. This hotel is really nice. Total with taxes $108 Canadian dollars. If I booked it on Hotels..com or Expe.dia it would have cost me total $158.
  11. Sorry about that, I didn't realize I forgot the dates. Also didn't know that I could list multiple hotel questions. Dates are Fri August 22nd-Sun August 24th.
  12. Help ID 2* Downtown Windsor, Ontario $62/Night going to guess it might be Quality Suites? I know that there are 3 main hotels downtown Windsor, but this could also include the hotels on Huron Church that have nothing around them and need a cab or car to get to downtown Full amenities are: Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Business Centre, Internet Access Anyone know possibly?
  13. Help ID 2.5* Downtown Windsor, Ontario $68/night Wondering if this might be the Travelodge on Riverside Dr. Not the one on Huron Church? Full amenities for this 2.5* Hotel: Free Internet, Pet Friendly, Business Centre, Self Service Laundry, Internet Access Any idea?
  14. Help With 3* Hotel Windsor, Ontario $101/Night 3* Downtown Windsor, Ontario need help ID this hotel. I am guessing the Holiday Inn on Dougall? I know there is one out on Huron Church near the Ambassador Bridge. Full Amenities Are: Free Internet, Pet Friendly, Indoor Pool, Fitness Centre, Pool, Restaurant, Business Centre, Self Service Laundry, Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-Room Accessibility, Accessible Bathroom, Handicapped Parking, Roll-In Shower
  15. I don't know much about this property only that it is right by the Metro and around the corner from the Omni Shoreham hat I stayed in back in January. Looks nice from outside. Marriotts are usually good properties too.
  16. Here is my bids: 4* Woodley Park-Dupont Circle---$90 declined added Downtown-White House---$95 declined added Capitol Hill-Convention Center---$100 declined added Georgetown-Foggy Bottom---$105 declined 3,5* Woodley Park-Dupont Circle---$90 ACCEPTED This is just around the corner from the Omni Shoreham where I stayed back in January so very close to the Metro and great area from what I can see. If anyone can tell me if this was a good win it would be great. Says I saved 66%
  17. OK I see it lists: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Internet Business Center
  18. With all the bidding I did on Price.line and the help from the board I went with the Hot.wire offer instead of chancing it with the Priceline.Express 3* Total is $370.65 for the Sat and Sun nights. Thanks guys
  19. The Saturday check in might be the issue, I never thought of this. Fridays do seem to always be slightly cheaper than Saturdays and Saturdays are usually a higher occupancy rate for Niagara Falls with many one night stays. I will have to see if my friend wants to do Fri-Sun instead. The bids with ** I figured maybe the $130 would have went through at most. I will try again. The Radisson does sound good, great location and I have never stayed there yet. Does Hotwire allow you to choose 1 King, 2 Queen etc? or do they give you 1 King as default like Priceline? Thanks again for the info and help here. I click the links all the time just so you know.
  20. Update on bidding with Priceline 4* Niagara Falls-Clifton Hill-----$100----declined added North Niagara Falls------$110----declined add St Catherines-----------------$115----declined added Welland---------------------$120----declined added West Niagara Falls------$125----declined 4* Niagara Falls- Fallsview Blvd---$100---declined added North Niagara Falls----------$110---declined added St Catherines------------------$115---declined added Welland-------------------------$120---declined added West Niagara Falls-----------$125---declined 4* Niagara Falls- Clifton Hill & Fallsview---$105---declined added North Niagara Falls---------------------$110---declined added St Catherines-----------------------------$120--declined added Welland-------------------------------------$125--declined added West Niagara Falls----------------------$130---declined 3.5* Niagara Falls- Clifton Hill----$100---declined added St Catherines----------------$110---declined added Welland-----------------------$115---declined added West Niagara Falls--------$125---declined 3.5* Niagara Falls- Fallsview Blvd--$100---declined added St Catherines-------------------$110---declined added Welland---------------------------$115---declined added West Niagara Falls------------$125---declined 3.5* Niagara Falls- Clifton Hill & Fallsview---$110---declined added St Catherines-------------------------------$115---declined added Welland--------------------------------------$120---declined added West Niagara Falls------------------------$130---declined 3* Niagara Falls- Clifton Hill---$100---declined added Welland--------------------$105---declined 3* Niagara Falls- Fallsview---$100---declined added Welland-------------------$110---declined 3* Niagara Falls- Clifton Hill & Fallsview---$112---declined added Welland------------------------------------$118---declined So what do you think the minimum bid for 4*, 3.5* and 3* in the Clifton Hill and Fallsview areas might be? My thinking is that the Ramada is listed at $154 Canadian dollars so maybe $130-$140 might get that seen as I got it for $80 on the Sun night for our May long weekend and it was listed at $93 a night. From what I am gathering there is not much of a big savings possibly with Priceline and Hotwire in Niagara Falls.
  21. And just a side note, when I am bidding I click the links here, close up the window and click the link to bid again etc. Great board and thanks as always for the advice and help. 1 trip to Boston, 1 trip to DC, 2 trips to Vegas, 4 trips to Chicago and now 2 trips to Niagara Falls you guys have been awesome.
