  1. My friend told me about this New York Pass which lets you visit 80+ attractions for a flat rate. Does anyone here have any first hand experience and is it fun and worth it? I did some calculations, if I hit up roughly 2 attractions per day I would have made my money's worth. Just not sure if all the attractions are good. I also don't want to be rushing from one place to another. The big pull to this pass is being able to use Fast Pass to skip lines for the popular attractions. I did something similar to that at Six Flags and the pass was definitely worth it.
  2. Yes I did not notice that! I'm Canadian so the default setting was CAD. I guess up until now we were talking about USD, so converting to CAD the Wyndham Hotel goes up to $250 on PriceLine.Express, with metro6 5% discount code would bring it down to roughly $238 CAD? Armed with that knowledge I went in for a couple more bids on Price.Line, and end up with One UN New York for $220 CAD. I hope the area and hotel aren't too different from Wyndham, although I did save about $18/night. Any thoughts on this hotel? TripAdvisor has some good and bad reviews. 76% rating, whereas Wyndham was 80%. But thanks again for everyone's help and I hope my first stay in NYC will be fun!
  3. That is so strange?!... even when I click on the link provided by thereuare, it directs me to the MSG 4* hotel but showing as $250 per night! I've tried closing browser and manually entering it again but still the same...
  4. I tried to look up Priceline.Express deal yesterday but can't seem to find the $228 deal anymore, did the price go up to $251 for the ESB 4*?
  5. I've been re-bidding for a couple days now, and gone up to $211 with no luck. I might have to settle for the PriceLine.Express? How is the Wyndham?
  6. My maximum bid for a 4*, given the going rates... would $210 be enough? Thanks for the CPS tip, I will exclude that zone in my next bid strategy, last thing I need is to be paying $200+ for hellishly cramped room for a week plus.
  7. Hi again thereuare, You were instrumental in helping me get a couple of good stays in Vegas last time around! :D So with your advice, given that I will get barely any savings for a 3* or 4*, it would make the most sense to get the best bang for the buck by hovering around the $195+ range and sticking with 4* bids? I would really like to keep it under $200/night since I'll be there for 8 full nights which is a lot of money on just accommodation. Any recommendations on must-eat places around town? Budget isn't a concern when it comes to good food! ;) Although I find in most cities sometimes the hole-in-the-walls do have the best food!
  8. Hi all, I have planned a leisurely trip with my gf to New York in September and it will be my first time there so I have no idea what to expect. The trip is going to be all about trying all the delicious food NY has to offer and take in some sights and sounds. I would like to be as central to everything as possible. I will be relying on public transit + taxi. (Unless you guys recommend renting a car?) I'm not too picky when it comes to hotel amenities or luxuries. Just needs to be clean and convenient to get a good nights sleep. Anything above 3* is ok really. I have already attempted some bidding patterns and have got up to $170 with zones ticked in: CPS Chelsea ESBA Hell's Kitchen MSG MTE MTW Times Square UES Bidding on 3 star minimum. I started with 4*. I'm still having no luck, will I have to go up much more? I saw another hotel called "The One", it's 3 star and with glowing reviews for $180 but looking at the map it seems to be fairly far from "popular NY". Crossing 2-3 bridges? It's in the Flushing area close to Queens? I've heard internet stories of those areas being more dangerous at night. thanks for reading.
  9. So I was browsing around forum for tips for 5 star Vegas hotels. I started on North Strip hotels, possibly thinking of adding South Strip if the price was going too high. I wanted to see if I could land Cosmopolitan but at the same time I was worried I would end up at Vdara, so I started bidding in the North Strip first. Started my bid at $70 ... and ... on my first bid, I ended up getting Wynn! Now I'm not sure if I could have gone lower ... lol but I'm still quite happy with what I got ... at most I probably could have saved a buck or two? I'll stay optimistic and keep thinking that ;)
  10. Using your suggestion I was able to WIN Monte Carlo for $98! List price is $120, thank you so much thereuare! Only 18% off but for EDC weekend I think the win was great! Saved myself $66 for other stuff ;) Cheers! ~ D
  11. Yes I do understand that there is still a possibility to win the 5* hotels in the specificied areas and I am fine with that, I hope I can land one but I think it's unlikely hehe... Yes I can comfirm that I want to bid for a 4* (or better) hotel in the Strip North and Strip South zones with a maximum bid of $100. Thanks!
  12. Oh I completely understand what you mean by Summerlin now thanks for clarifying. I am currently going to be looking for a minimum star rating of 4. I will only want to stay at either Las Vegas Strip North or Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South as those are the only zones on the strip. I would prefer to keep my maximum bid at $100. Another question though, does bidding higher right off the bat give me a better chance of winning a nicer hotel? For a rough example, if I throw a bid out for 4* for $250 would I have a higher chance of landing, let's say Caesar's Palace over Monte Carlo? Simply because Monte Carlo list price is only $120, or would I have equal (or higher chance) to still win Monte Carlo and thus end up getting ripped off paying $250 for a $120 hotel when I was hoping to win Caesar's Palace which is listed at $279. Hope that makes sense.
  13. So if the Re-bidding zone I check has the highest of 3.5*, then if I only bid on 4* then it won't be affected right? Because I notice NW Las Vegas and Nellis both have 3.5* available. My maximum bid, I'm hoping to keep it under $100 for Monte Carlo or NY but if I can get the higher ups like Planet Hollywood, Mirage, Caesars and maybe even Paris I don't mind going up to $120 or so. I guess it depends on the value I save on each hotel. I don't understand what you mean by: (NOTE: Summerlin is NOT one of them) Does that mean I should not have Summerlin checked as a re-bid zone even though it only shows the highest star hotel to be 3.5 there? I guess common logic would mean that I should still avoid "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North - Condo" so I don't end up winning Trump heh...
  14. True, which is why I was already bidding over the amount of Trump. Trump was available for $169 and my highest bid for a 5* was $174. Sorry for being picky but if possible I would prefer not to directly book Vdara either, it's not high on my preferred list due to lack of casino and I'm still paying $185/night for it. Ok so TI is in Strip North zone and Tropicana is in Strip South zone? What zone is Flamingo in? I realize with PriceLine I won't have that many available options, perhaps I will try to start bidding 4* and accept that fact that I could possibly end up at TI or Tropicana. What price bid should I start at and which ones would be the "dummy" zones I can add to re-bid while staying directly on the strip? Thanks again.
  15. The actual date of the EDC festival runs from June 8th to June 10th but I will only need hotel from June 9th to June 12. I would prefer not splitting as I don't want to risk switching hotels.
  16. And definitely if I can get even better like Planet Hollywood, Caesars or Mirage that would be excellent!
  17. Hi there, First time poster on this forum. I recently started browsing through here and have learned quite a lot but I still need some help! I have been trying to book a hotel for June 9th to June 12th. I understand that is also Electric Daisy Carnival weekend so most if not all hotels will have increased prices but I'm still holding hope to get a better deal if possible. One main issue is that I would like to stay as close to the strip as possible (so no Trump, no Stratosphere, etc) ... preferably close proximity on and off the strip. So far I have been following other betterbidding member's advice and bidding for a 5* on Las Vegas North & South strip while avoiding North Strip Condo so as to not accidentally win Trump, but I have unsuccessfully re-raised my bid all the way up to $174 with no luck. Now I'm hesitant to go any higher because at this rate I'm already paying more than if I just directly booked at Trump and I'm only $11 under Vdara's asking price. My only other alternative is to start bidding at 4* now but I don't have as much knowledge regarding this. I would personally like to avoid Treasure Island, Flamingo and Tropicana. I'm ok with Monte Carlo or New York which are both running around $120 & $139 respectively, cheaper than TI. I'm not sure if I'm making much sense here sorry I'm extremely new to all this. What bid should I start at and should I be re-adding zones like I did with the 5* bidding? Thank you for reading!
