  1. I am pretty near the top for this type of bid.. perhaps $50-$52.00. I see for $59 on HOTWIRE a three star. Most other websites are over $110 . Was thinknig of maybe going down to 2.5 stars for about $39-$45. if three star doesn't work.
  2. I have been playing around with this for awhile tonight for my son. Started at $40.. MCI..then added free bid zones with increments of 2-3 bucks until i reached $48 and decidied to take a rest and ask your opinion. We still have time, so what do you suggest?
  3. forgot to add i used savingsbarn.com link as usual.
  4. I almost copied previos bids! started out at $35 for a 3*, then dropped to 2.5*, same price, but lowered to $31 for a 2*, assuming I would get this ESA. I agree that it is a nice hotel. I used the savingsbarn.com link as always.
  5. I have given up and booked a very inexpensive hotel with free shuttle outside of priceline. I started days ago for one night, october 9th, at $70, rejected offered to raise to $103 then bid $75 (adding re-bid zone). was offered again a hotel at $103, (which perhaps I should have taken), but didn't. the next day bid $80, $22 counter offer, then $85 with free rebid zone. all rejected but offered to raise by $22.. and didn't. then tonight bid $88, added free rebid zone and then $90. also was offered now a hotel for $110!! Since you cannot ( don't dare) drop down to a three star now at CDG, as priceline dangerously is including some hotel with no shuttle far far away ( 15 km??)... ( i read a story of $80-100 taxi at night!), i just decided to go on the cheap elsewhere. since i am travelling alone on this one, i was not as interested in raising my bid for a nice hotel.
  6. sorry you are not happy with your bid, but you could have lowered your bid ( and should have) once you added a four star into the race. i made this same mistake recently but fortunately i still saved alot, and was awarded the LOWER star hotel, NOT the rating I was hoping for. i think you are missing some info in your post about the star rating in changning.
  7. This was my first time at this chain. The room was very complete with a kitchen, microwave, fridge and bar sink. Nice desks for working. Two double beds (possibly queens?) plus sleeper sofa in the living section. The living room section is not huge and is connected to the kitchen area. Very nicely appointed beds and good matresses. Free wifi internet in room and lobby computer. The indoor pool and fitness center are sufficient for quick use.. not overly large. Good hot breakfast including make your own waffles and hot oatmealincluded in price. The staff was very very accomodating and pleasant. This hotel will be upgraded with new decoration (probably similarly upscale like the new BWI Springhill Suites) next year. There is a Bonefish Grill nearby, as well as many other restaurants.
  8. I used www.savingsbarn.com link as usual. After no results bidding in southern Philadelphia area, went further north and by this time just started out at $50, 2.5 star, and was awarded at first try. Was offered to extend the stay at same rate but did not go ahead. I see other Springhills are rated 2*. ??? However, I was very tired of bidding on this trip. Have been computerless for a week, so I am fine with even a small (?)overbid. I HAD to get a room! Rates on their webiste are about $169, but I have seen deals on other webistes for $119. Hotwire also has a 2.5* in Horsham for $64.. so.. at least I have saved something! I went into one of these chains this trip and was quite impressed with the lobby. I hope I am happy here. I can't seem to add the price in title once I have posted. Sorry.
  9. in a hurry. bid same day, today, one night, at 55, then offered toraise by 15. ignored. added rebid zone and quickly raised to 60. won. used savingsbarn.com of course. thanks again.
  10. This is a very pleasant hotel with helpful staff. Conveniently located near a mall and direct easy access to downtown and all highways. Great base for visiting Lancaster, Gettysburg, Harrisburg, etc. Fine dining donwtown at Yorktowne Hotel, and we were pleasantly surprised with how conveniently located this town and hotel are for our vacation. Standard H.I. rooms. Had everything we needed. Clean. Nice lobby with internet. Inexpensive breakfast option at their hotel restaurant ..three items $3.33. fun bar with music. Holidome for kids.
  11. This hotel couldn't be more accomodating. Their FREE shuttle takes you into town, to the naval academy and to your restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Call them ten minutes before you want to come back, and they are there! Forget your car and getting lost here! There is a new shopping center one block away with supermarket and a few simple eateries. Internet in business center open all night as is the fitness room. Outdoor pool closes at 9pm. The beds are absolutely top quality. The bathroom not too roomy, but pleasant.
  12. i thought i had edited and added that i used the savingsbarn PRICELINE link, of course.
  13. Did this biddng the day before. Flexible with area somewhat so started around wilmington, then lowered into annapolis when $70 got me nowhere futher north. Bid $55 Annapolis waterfront, then was offered $17 increase. Ignored and added annapolis for $60 and was accepted. Original bid was one night, offered extend a stay, so liking the hotel decided to go for it. their web price was $139/night plus tax. If this had not been accepted I was going to take a 4* hotwire for Annapolis for $69 plus tax and fees. happy with this bid.
  14. did not enoy this stay. nice enough staff, but older property. great for workers. not for vacationers. web pics look SO MUCH BETTER. but what can you expect for this price. i have learned my lesson! would probably totally avoid this hotel . so don't bid this level for horsham.
  15. not your most pleasant place.. staff is very pleasant.. room is large enough.. just a bit dated and weather beaten. web pics look SO MUCH BETTER. but what can you expect for this price. i have learned my lesson! would probably totally avoid this hotel . so don't bid this level for horsham.
  16. very nice airport hotel with fequent shuttle not only to airport but to 36th st. train station for the trolley to town ( dodgy neighborhood viewing but safe) leaves you off at city hall for $2 each way. free internet in lobby was a great help to me. tuesday night customer apprecion night had free beverages, hot snacks and cheese and fruit. comfortable room although mine was not as large as it seems the previous poster's was. all in all. would stay again, although housekeeping does not seem to be very meticulous. i suggested they be a bit more industrous when they clean. animal friendly hotel.

    now what?

update. finally took the trolley from airport $2 ( hotel shuttle dropped us off) to downtown enterpirse site two blocks away, to save a LOT by using off site rentals. it is very EASY to get to the Phily downtown sites.. so it is not a bad idea. avis will let you take car back to airport for no additonal fee, but entrprise willcharge us $40 if we decide to do that. we shall see what we do. used hilton honors card ( and they asked me over phone for my member's number) to get an intermediate car for the enitre time for $775 including tax, etc. aug 8- spetember 3rd. i had previously bought a one year insurance policy i can use to be able to decine the additonal expensive necessary protection. ( we live overseas and our credit cards NOR auto insurance cover us). so.. we are happy enough. i worked on this until two hours before getting the car. tried priceline again undercutting a few bucks what i had been quoted by Enterprise, and it just didn't work. thank you for all your patience and help.

    now what?

have found $598 three weeks STANDARD SIZE including tax.. so.. can't see how it is going to be worth my while when i already bid near this. also, kind of concerned of unknown amount of fees and taxes with priceline at this point. seems it is too close to risk. i believe this is with national.. 20% discount for neighborhood rental. the month rental from Enterprise was worse than some online stuff. wish i had an Entertainment Coupon right now very very good discounts..(25%) actually.. the best so far. may be last time at computer for a day ro so. so don't be offeneded if i don't answer some great advice! thanks..
  19. correct address! nothing slips by you! only a few more loose ends. i am certain it will all work out. looking forward to it all. we have saved considerably using your site. thank you again.

    now what?

aug 8-29 good price of $144 wk compact collecting downtown on front st, but they charge me for four weeks on statement!!! ( Enterprise). then if i choose their intermediate car, it charges me only for the true three weeks.. making that one only $45 more for the three weeks! i am confused... other rates vary from $193-$197/week at budget/alamo (compact) aug 8-14 problem returning downtown on the 3rd september due to labor day. so that option is out. will be speaking to an agent about month rental.. and also searching for alamo, budget and Enterprise coupons. this is looking a bit more promising although it is not really the size i had wanted.. is should have asked for help before since i only had such a short time to do this. ( 3 day waiting period) however, i was encouraged seeing some decent wins for the smaller cars.. and when i was so unsuccessful, i should have stopped and come back here., but didn't, and kept tredgng on, obviously way too low. what i don't understand is if i bid $22 on all sizes except economy.. why didn't i win a bid? i have not even kept record of my bids at this point.. perhaps i still have an option or two ... hmmm if i don't answer your replies it is because i leave tomorrow and will be travelling(flying) monday and tuesday .. so.. thanks for all your help.. i will go through your links when i do this ..
  21. i don't see the problem. priceline either accepts with a congratulations or can't accept offer and tries to sell you something else. to not waste time and get frustrated i would try to bid at least CLOSE to the winning bids. there seem to be no super cheapies in manhattan in august. good luck.

    now what?

i have tried accessing hotwire at least 30 times and gotten through about 3, all to no avail. no bargains. maybe august is always like this. i have been lucky to only need a rental a few days here and there recently, but this trip is all car.. all rental. and wow.. i had not fathomed these prices. i have now found some one month car rentals on Enterprise and am looking into upgrade coupons/codes or 20% off. perhaps other places off site phl also have better deals. tedious work. looking into it.

    now what?

goodness. you can see i am bit tired! philadelphia ( am willing to train downtown off site instead of phl) either aug 8 til aug 14th. or can break it up and do aug 8 to aug. 10. then aug 10 to aug 14. after which i then need a larger car (mid to full, even larger, really) from the 14 til 26 or 27th or aug. 14-sept. 3rd. I could keep the SAME car the entire rental ( aug 8-sept. 3rd) BUT then it must be a larger one from the beginning. After aug 14th i have four in car instead of only two.
  24. valencia

    now what?

this has been very frustrating. not only have i used up all my bidding options. and must wait three days.( which now i don't have). i can see that this is going to be one expensive driving vacation!
