  1. you need to state exact dates and price so it can be identified. these hotels change constantly. there is a list that may help a bit until you get a moderator to see this, at the top of forum .
  2. Here's one for you! 2 rooms. november 8. one night. 4* barcelona $99 amenities near beach pool restaurant business center hi speed inernet 4 out of 5 tripadvisor 180+ customers downtown marina las ramblas
  3. I used the hilton.com link. and it came up there as it belongs to that group. didn't realize there was also a hampton inn link. they have paid $1,927 total per room,5 nights, dec. 5-10 ,each room accomodating three people ( max. 4, but not sure if price changes for fourth person.). most nights were $359 plus tax, but one night it dropped to $249. The fact it is a new hotel makes me feel fairly calm about it. They would have loved a higher star rated place, but it is unreasonable at this point, and then again, there is that "tired" problem one finds so often. And with prices so darn high..i just hope it works out. I doubt they will be changing it, but in case something GREAT comes up at HOTWIRE.. or at last minute. we shall keep you in the wheel.
  4. thank you for all your help. we have booked 2 double rooms at the new hampton inn in soho (totally cancellable)through your hilton.com link. This hotel is only three weeks old so I think it cannot look "tired" as some complaints are of other NYC places. The free hot breakfast will be nice and there are buses at the door, according to the receptionist. we had wanted to take the eastgate towers as there was an incredible special through the spanish Hotels.com website if you telephoned Hotels.com in spain,( 30% on last three rooms). but we were unable to get the same deal through your Hotels.com link. and did not know how to get the "link" established if we made reservation on the phone. I see you have a travel agent number that came up with their hilton reservation. If i had a problem on a website, needed to call ,and i gave them your number, would that serve as a link? these things do happen sometimes, and it would be nice to know how to revert it back to betterbidding somehow. I assume this will be the last post on this. What a week in NYC! (as far as lodging is concerned). I can't thank you enough for all your suggestions.
  5. the 2 bedroom suite at eastgate towers seems like a good price, but i am having trouble with Quikbook website to even SEE where the taxes and occupancy fees are calculated, which i do not like. what am i missing? Another option is the Hampton Inn in Soho. they will become hilton honors members.. who knows.. maybe get an upgrade to a room with a view? (good back-up. no penalty for cancelling 24 hrs in advance) Have checked all these through your links.. but would like instructions on being able to see taxes on Quikbook. Thank you.
  6. I will be doing the purchasing.. so it will be through a link here. thank you so much for such detailed info. i do not feel comfortable with them "hiding" anyone with hotwire rooms. imagine they have a problem!!!!!!! The holiday inn soho also comes out just at budget. I had seen the eastgate towers. the ramada plaza was an option at the beginning, too. will keep trying and hope to be able to keep them in manhattan. i certainly will if possible. i see on Quikbook the 2 bedroom suite ( pre-paid) turns out to be a great price. brings room price down per family, and has TWO bathrooms. i have notified the guests.. hopefully we will act on this as your suggestion is perfect!
  7. what I am thinking is they will be right at budget, ($4,500 for entire stay) as we can get two rooms there only.. each one under a senior's name for three people each. ( one actually two adults/one child, the other three adults). This Hyatt regency seems to be the nicest hotel for the money.. as I cannot find another in this same price range that is so luxurious, or seemingly so. I would LOVE to try to get this on Priceline, but need three rooms then.. and then the added risk of getting another hotel.. although perhaps the other hotels at this level are also near this PATH station, which would not be a problem then. I will try to research that option. Seems like Manhattan, itself, is out for them on Priceline, ( 3 rooms)and nothing is coming up on Hotwire ( 2 rooms) anymore in the $300 range we were seeing the past days. What am I thinking? ... grrrrrr. sorry I offered to help on this one! they have cheap flights, but.. the hotels are a killer this week. I am hopeful we will come to a logical decision soon. thanks for all your comments.
  8. Safe to assume a 3.5* bid in jersey city will get me the Hyatt? I see no other hotels ever listed as being won. Are there actually any other 3.5* hotels nearby? This may be a solution for my quest.. thanks for any advice.
  9. i would not BID, we would just book it. BTW, your hyatt link is not working.. at least not for me. And i was very interested in Hyatt Place. (free breakfast, free shuttle to 5 mi. radius, and bus at door, according to website and very positive reviews).
  10. Thanks. I have never even paid attention to that and will use it from now on. I have been told on another forum that if I book a hotel on plaza drive or harmon meadows lane the bus stops right in front fo the hotels and has its own lane to go into tunnel. This is looking like a feasible idea at this point, since most of these hotels have free breakfast and also free shuttle to take you to the mall ( no taxes in NJ on clothes). I am warming up to the idea and at least will probably make a cancellable back up over in secaucus since we cannot find a decent one in manhattan.
  11. just an update. have bid up to $260 and gone down to 3* for those dates on priceline for 3 rooms. wondering if secaucus area is very inconvenient? Where are your hotel links? any suggestions?
  12. thereuare.. trying to split bid. can you please help identify dec 8-10, 2 rooms, 5 ad. one child. 3*downtown soho $332 amenities REST:, Business, HI Speed internet? rated 3.5 with over 120 reviews september 2008 last one. also, for dec. 5-8th 3* downtown soho $293 fitness, rest., internet, business thanks
  13. i am concerned for this group, of two grandparents, one young couple and young child and one uncle to be "who knows where".. as far as public transortation is concerned. i know SOME jersey hotels are near transportation.. but perhaps not ALL that participate. could be a disaster. at least in manhattan they are where THEY think they should be. will work on this sunday evening.. too busy right now. will keep you posted.
  14. when i search it says not available. 2 rooms, 3 adults/ 2 adults 1 child. it is not even available if i put only two adults in each room. have looked into splitting bid. but will not give up. i also see that on HOTWIRE, if i book the rooms separately, they save money. otherwise hotwire charges the 3 person price for both rooms. when if i do it separately, the 2 adult/ one child room is cheaper. seems they can save a lot on HOTWIRE..( only two rooms,) and splitting the bid i think i can make it work if they don't mind moving on day four. Will keep you posted.
  15. now the hotels have shot up on HOTWIRE. we cannot find a decent back-up. now even looking into apts. most full.. not easy this time. hmmmm. quite discouraging.
  16. Thank you so much! That complete renovation news is encouraging. i will pass on your wise advice.
  17. Thereuare.. with your experience.. do you think prices will just keep going up and up or will they have a better chance closer to the date? wondering if they should max out their bids now with 3.5 and 4 star, then 3 * and if rejected go for hotwire before EVERYTHING goes up, instead of just playing with this til next month. any comments/observations? we just can't get over the prices!! thank goodness for this website! BTW, that 3.5 MS for $389 is still available that you feel is ramada plaza new yorker. Does anyone know if ALL the rooms have been remodeled yet?
  18. We saw that.. and will probably make some type of decision soon, as three rooms on PRICELINE are going to be more than two on HOTWIRE with this 6 yr old child, it is too much of a risk to do two on PRICELINE, IMO. but i see that one is gone right now .. and i see a 3.5 star, midtown south, $389 with restaurant,. fitness and Hi speed internet. I do not see anything like this listed. any idea which hotel it might be? splitting bid is not an option on such a short stay. thanks for the info/observations. we will use your links.
  19. I have been helping my daughter get three rooms for some friends going over from Spain. Tickets bought, so can't change dates. No luck at all for 3 rooms up to $230 for 4* in almost all zones. We have been maxing out the free bids everyday. Internet rates are way up there.. in the high $300-$400's for 3*-4*. Is there a convention or is this just the most expensive week to go? They actually could get only two rooms (not with Priceline) as there are 5 adults and one child. Any ideas? they would like the entire stay to be under $4,500 somehow, but not so sure that can happen! Thanks for any advice.
  20. just stayed here again and this hotel has definitely been redecorated. no more manager's reception on thursdays, but the area it used to take place in has been converted into an open air business center with several comfortable PC stations. my room seemed more modern and upscale this time. i am also using this property now to relax until my flight leaves after i drove into the airport area a few hours ago. no complaints.
  21. Just on the road. tried $40 for 2.5* bensalem, rejected. no counter offer. added mt. laurel and increased bid to $45. Accepted. i did not have time to mess around raising slowly. am happy with this. nice hotel. free internet but no other perks. i was unable to do this through your PRICELINE link although i had tried several times from the hotel computer. sorry. i tired , but had to go directly to their webpage. i don't know why. please edit dates. one night from 13th to 14th.
  22. first, congratulations on your successful bid! i just have a quick question. i see people going with priceline even for four persons to the room, and just bringing a mattress in case they can't get the two beds. Has anyone ever heard of them being turned down (outisde of NYC) for trying this? just curious. seems risky to me, unless the 3rd and 4th persons are very small children.
