    Taxes & Service Fees:

    $61.86

Once again I was a dolt and forgot to start at SavingsBarn (doh!)

  2. Let me start by saying that I travel for business a lot and spend lots of nights in hotels all over the world. When I get lucky on price I get to stay nice places, but often have to settle for 2* hotels. On this trip I needed to be in Norfolk, not my favorite place in the world. I used Priceline to look for 3* hotels in downtown Norfolk and got the Radisson.

As soon as I told the customer that I was visiting that I would be at the Radisson he told me "No don't stay there, it's an awful part of town and the hotel is a dump."

Unfortunately, he wasn't too wrong. This hotel is in the midst of a renovation. Talking to the staff the renovation is concentrating on the public areas and not the rooms. However, the rooms need work bad.

    Room Positives:

    • Good Size
    • Great Channel Selection on TVs (50+ channels)
    • Brand New Beds (Select Comfort Sleep Number Beds)

    Room Negatives:

    • Stained & Torn Carpets
    • Ancient air conditioning units that sort of work and are REALLY loud
    • Funky wet/urine type smell every time the air conditioning runs
    • Hideous old wall papers

    Hotel Positives:

    • Free Wi-Fi Internet Access
    • Restaurant and Room Service are actually good
    • Free Secure Parking

    Hotel Negatives:

    • Currently (10/05) horribly under construction, big mess
    • Crappy Neighborhood
    • Nothing around the hotel that you can walk to (food or otherwise)
    • Uncaring staff (My airconditioning unit wasn't working right, the staff sent someone who looked and said "I don't know what's wrong, sorry, you'll just have to bear with it."

Overall this hotel doesn't come close to the quality I expect from a Priceline 3* hotel. It isn't even as clean and nice as the 2* hotels I've gotten from priceline. I'll be sure and do everything I can to avoid staying at this or any other Radisson in the future.

  3. Sorry about the 3.5* confusion, too much time spent on Hotwire. In any case I'm willing to accept a 3 or 4* in any of the zones if I can stay under $120 night. Price is actually more important than location as long as it's either FW, USE or USW. I'd obviously prefer a 4*, but have had good luck with 3* in the past so I'm willing to go to that level if necessary.

So, its: Quality, Price then location.

  4. 5* @ $99 Failed

    5* @ $109 Failed

    5* @ $119 Failed

I thought I might get it since it was a Tuesday-Thursday. In any case I found a nice players club code on the boards and used that to book the West Wing @ MGM Grand at $59 for Tuesday, $79 for Wednesday and $109 for Thursday. The room is very nice and I'm happy with the hotel and rate.

  5. Got a full-size with Avis for $17/day for 9/29-10/05. This was $2 less per day than the offer that came up when I booked my hotel in Orlando.

    Previous failed bids:

    $14 Mid-size

    $19 SUV

    $20 Minivan

    Offers from hotel bid:

    $14 Compact

    $19 Full-size

    $16 Standard

    $17 Economy

    $20 Premium

    $25 Convertible

    $27 Minivan

    $37 Luxury

  6. Hello folks, I'm looking for some bidding advice for the Orlando area with stay dates of 9/29-10/05. I'm looking for a 4* (actually looks like in this area it would be a "Resort" rather than a 4*), and am willing to stay in any of the following zones:

Kissimmee, Disney World Vicinity and least favorite but OK Universal/Sea World.

I'm looking for some bid amount and strategy advice.

    Thoughts are appreciated!

  7. In the past I never had a good way to guide my bids, so this was the method I used. Now that I've found this board, I will certainly use it to a much larger extent. I guess what counts is that normally I would have been happy with the hotwire price so I was thrilled to get it for nearly 20% less than that. Most of my purchases are for hotels in NYC or rental cars at MCO or PBI so that's what I've been using for those.

    Thanks for the feedback.
