  1. Thank you! It does look like a sweet little property, the tripadvisor reviews are very positive. Looking forward to our stay!
  2. *PL EXPRESS* 3* Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) Residence inn by Marriott Chicago Midway $107 ($88 before tax and fees) Amenities: - Pet friendly - Free breakfast - Free parking - Pool - Fitness - Business Centre - Airport shuttle 9+ Favourite with Price.line users After booking, additional amenities were shown as follows: - Free internet (in room) - Handicap accessible - Non smoking I usually make a bid if I can see the NYOP matches the Express deal, but the amenities didn't match up exactly (no free parking listed, and I wanted free parking so I knew what my final cost would be) so I just went for the Express deal. Rack rate $240 ($280 after tax) so pretty happy - price seemed pretty competitive based on my searches.
  3. Ivy Boutique Hotel, 4.5*, $157 + taxes and fees ($601.12 total for 3 nights) Amenities: - Boutique - Hi Speed Internet - Restaurants - Smoke free These were the only amenities even after clicking the "show all" tab. Price is about $40 less per night than currently advertised rack rate, so I'm quite happy with that. Based on the Better Bidding hotel lists I was pretty certain I was getting the Ivy. Couldn't find a comparable hotel for the price anywhere else in the vicinity (even the closest Red Roof is over $200 those nights), so Hotwire wins again. Used the HOTWIRE link on this forum. Thanks!
  4. $114 PRICELINE EXPRESS deal Amenities as follows: - free breakfast - free parking - free Internet - shuttle - non-smoking - gym - handicap accessible - business center - bed choice (double or king) -8+ customer satisfaction I thought I was getting the holiday inn express, but the option of bed choice should have twigged to me that it was a la quinta - this is a common amenity with la quintas. Either way, still happy. This is a very early booking so not a great discount, in the end saved about $25 off rack rate. However I was keen to lock in my first nights accommodation so as to do some other planning for our arrival, so am happy to get a comfortable property such as this with any kind of discount. $25 is better than nothing! For background, i also tried bidding $85-$100 for a 2.5 in the inglewood area with no success. Obviously way too early. With the SPRING15 discount, figured I'd just take the express deal. Used the betterbidding links for both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE.
  5. Priceline Express Deal (10% off coupon meant the actual price in the end was $41.40). Tried a NYOP bid first, rejected at $40 so just as good value to go express deal with the coupon. Amenities: - free breakfast - free Internet - pet friendly - business - pool - 8+ customer rating Used the PRICELINE links on this site.
  6. I saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $71 and predicted it was the la quinta, so thought i'd try PRICELINE NYOP to get the same hotel for a few less dollars. Started bidding at $58 and went up in $2 increments until accepted at $66. Not a huge saving from the express deal, but every dollar counts! Rack rate currently $99 so a reasonable saving overall. I'm keen to lock in,hotels early on this trip, given the falling aussie dollar, so I'm happy with the saving. For info, the express deal listed bed choice (pillow top beds) which convinced me it would be the la quinta. Other amenities included: - restaurant -free Internet - pet friendly - pool - free parking - free breakfast - shuttle -business centre - fitness While I obviously can't 100% confirm the express deal was the la quinta, as I ended up doing NYOP, I think it would be a very good guess. Used the PRICELINE links on this site. Great site, I'm saving a lot of cash on this trip thanks to the info and tips here.
  7. Booked via PRICELINE EXPRESS deal Amenities: Free internet, free breakfast, outdoor pool, fitness, business centre. I was pretty sure it would be the comfort inn, and wasn't disappointed. I tried NYOP at $68 and $70 without success, I was reluctant to bid higher as I had seen the Sheraton and crowne plaza won recently for $74 and I didn't want either of those hotels. Was prepared to pay the premium to ensure the comfort inn. Also used the 5% coupon that was emailed out today, making it $84 a night. Current retail is $124, so a decent saving over 2 nights in any event. I am pretty sure hotwire had the same hotel at $91, but with higher fees the priceline express deal was a winner even before the coupon. Used the PRICELINE links on this site for searching and booking.
  8. Booked this on HOTWIRE a couple of weeks ago. I stupidly forgot to note the amenities shown, but I do recall they were exactly as listed on the betterbidding hotel list and I was expecting to win the crowne plaza! (Sorry!) Happy with the price and to secure the hotel 3 months out at this rate.
  9. Saw a 4* express deal available for $93 on my dates, so tried NYOP for $75 & $78 (rejected) then got $79 bid accepted the following day. Didn't use any re-bidding strategy as I have a lot of time to play with anyhow. Got the grand hyatt riverwalk, which is currently retailing for $299 a night for my dates. Very happy to say the least! Thanks to all the forum users who contribute tips and results.
  10. Won Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort for $130, for 5th september 2012. This was my first bid and I was surprised to win! Kicking myself for not starting lower... But I am happy with this price ($157 after tax) - Expedia and Orbitz are showing $245 after tax, so a very good bargain in that respect.
