  1. I think we'll look at another destination. Thanks everyone.
  2. Yes, I am refering to the Fess Parker Doubletree Resort. Thanks for the link. I think I get it. I checked the priceline hotel list but don't see any hotels listed for santa barbara. Could I be the first to venture into new territory??? (highly unlikely) For those members living in santa barbara or knowledgeable about santa barbara, is $200/night for 3 star waste of money? mod - I checked my airline post and I see that it was completed on 9/10/06.
  3. HI! Need help with potential last minute santa barbara trip. We will need 2 rooms - one for grandparents the other for us and newborn. I saw on priceline that Fess Parker is listed at $415 and able to click on name your own price. What's the best strategy to get this hotel? We want to stay starting 7/3/08 for 2 nights. Thanks for your help.
  4. ok done on the long awaited nail-bitting hanging old thread. Sorry not to complete as I was probably in transit with no internet access at that time. UPDATE on LAX-LIS: wife and i decided to head to hawaii instead and postpone LIS to the spring. but would appreciate any insight on the Priceline name your own price tax variation. thanks!
  5. wow. i didn't realize i had a wild loose thread hanging. I ended up staying at the Pan Pacific. And to be honest, I don't remember what I paid as this was over a year ago. But I can attest that the user reviews were right on - that's for sure. wife says 2 thumbs up!
  6. Hi. I need some advice. This is what I have done so far: researched and found lowest internet price around $850US pp. Breakout is 550 plus 277tax plus fees. I did priceline name your own price starting from 200 and went up to 425 in $25 increments. I noticed that the offers which came back repeated and were not that attractive. One offer was I think $825 if I'm willing to take 2 connections and the other was $832 and I can select my flights. What happened to "save upto 40%"? Could it be that there is low availablity? We are flexible with dates but I read somewhere that most business close on monday (true?) so i don't want to depart LAX on sunday. I also noticed that when selecting for different airports, the taxes will vary and the final total price sometimes was less than my previous bid although i increased it by $25. Anyone shed some light? Wife and I are not dying to go as we can delay trip to another month. But if I can get 35% off, she'll pack our bags.
  7. good info here. I tried whistler on priceline after reading edyvr's post. selected resort, and bid 75, rejected and rebid selecting 4* rasing bid to 77. no go. realized that his bid was same day and successful - one year ago. did another bid: selected resort, and bid 80, rejected and rebid selecting 4* rasing bid to 90. no go. did another bid: selected resort, and bid 100, rejected and rebid changing to 8/1-2 one night rasing bid to 101 . no go. I'm afraid that if I selected 4*, i would not be saving that much. I also figure that I can get better prices as date gets closer. Am I wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
