  1. Thanks for the tip. I always get nervous using Priceline because I'm always afraid I'll get stuck with this hotel and have to pay the expensive parking costs. While it does seem like a bit of a hassel it is definately worth saving that much money on parking.
  2. I just got this hotel from Hotwire. The amenities are Shuttle, Restaurant, Fitness, Business Center and Hi Speed Internet Access. I really wanted the Hyatt Rosemont and $60 is a great rate! :)
  3. ymv1999, I hope you don't mind me stepping in a making a comment. I don't know anything about the hotel you were asking about but I stayed in the O'hare area last summer with my kids and I really enjoyed it. It didn't take long for the shuttle to get to the airport and it took between 40-45 minutes to reach the city. My kids loved riding the el and buses so the CTA visitor passes worked out great for us. In the O'hare area there are lots of restaraunts nearby that are good for kids (McDonalds, Wendy's, etc) and the area was very safe. Overall, we had a great experience. We are going back next month and plan on staying in the same area. If you have any other questions about the O'hare area I'd be happy to try to answer them for you. Good luck with whatever you decide. :)
  4. I just got back a few days ago from a wonderful stay at the Doubletree Club so I figured I'd post my review. This is a great hotel. For $40/night (8/18-8/23) this place was a steal! Checking in was fast & easy and the woman I dealt with was extremely nice. My husband had called ahead and requested 2 double beds (our 2 kids were with us) but we were told they couldn't guarantee it. When checking in I asked about the beds and was told the doubles were all booked. (There was some sort of international convention that bought up all of the double beds at the last minute) She felt terrible and offered to send up a roll away bed. I told her it wasn't a big deal because my kids each brought their sleeping bags. (They thought it was pretty neat that they have to camp out in our hotel room...LOL) The woman at the front desk was also nice enough to warn me about the phones. Phone calls are .50 for local calls...I think that is only for the first 5 mins. (I used my calling card and was able to call around for free) The rooms were very nicely furnished with a king sized bed, a nice desk & swivel chair, an armchair & an combination TV cabinet & dresser. (At the desk you could use high speed internet for $9.95 a day) The bathroom was a little small but it was nicely stocked with Neutrogena toiletries. :) There was a nice sized tub & the massaging shower head felt pretty good. Both the bathroom & the rest of the room was very clean. :o One more thing...there was a large closet right inside the door. It had sliding glass doors and was big enough to hold all of our luggage. My only complaint....my kids drove me CRAZY opening shutting the doors...LOL. :) We planned on using the Blue Line to get into the city & the Doubletree Club has a free shuttle that runs to the airport. It runs every 30 minutes. Be careful that you catch the right shuttle at the airport because there is another Doubletree that also runs shuttles. Make sure the shuttle says "DoubleTree Club" and you'll be fine. The hotel offers room service but it was a little pricey for us. The bakery downstairs offered sandwiches (around $6) along with other baked goods. We didn't eat there so I'm not sure what else they offered. There was a sign by the phone where you could order pizza too. It was $11 for a 12" one topping pizza. There's a McDonalds, Panda Express & a Steak N Shake very close to the hotel. If you travel farther down Mannheim Rd you will run into other restaraunts. (Wendy's, KFC, Taco Bell & Pizza Hut) The Doubletree Club has an exercise room & an outdoor pool. We didn't check out either of them...it was a little too cool to swim. This hotel also offers free parking! Well, thats all I can think of to describe this hotel. We had a great stay & I would definately recommend this hotel. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I will try and answer them for you. :)
  5. I tried $35 but was rejected. I received a counter offer to add $9 but I rejected it. 6. Thanks a lot for your quick reply. I guess I will bid in another area then. Have a great day! ~Robyn :)
  7. Last year I took my family to Chicago and we stayed in a nice AmeriSuites in Arlington Heights. (The AmeriSuites was perfect because of the suites & the nice breakfast...it was great for our kids) We were planning on going back this year and was hoping to get the same area. After reading on this board I saw that someone had been trying to get a 2 1/2 star hotel in Arlington Heights but had been upgraded to a 3 star. Since I have heard TERRIBLE things about this 3 star it makes me very hesitant to bid in that area. Here's my question...do you have any choice in whether or not you are upgraded? I looked all over Pricelines website but I couldn't find any info about upgrades. If I have no choice in the upgrade I do not think I will bid in this zone. :) Thanks for any info you can give me. ~Robyn :) PS: I love this website. :o
  8. We stayed here 8/22-8/25. We got a great deal through Priceline and only paid $27 a night! Check in was quick and easy with no mention of Priceline. Our room was on the 3'rd floor and we were very pleased with it. It had a king size bed, a sofa bed (which was great for the kids), a TV, VCR (the kind that doesn't record), a desk, microwave, nice sized fridge and cabinets filled with dishes and silverware. We brought our own food and there was a nice sized cabinet right by the fridge that we were able to put the food in. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. My only complaint was that the bathroom door didn't close all the way. Since I have kids I never get privacy in the bathroom anyway so this wasn't a big deal. :) The hotel was just a quick drive to the metra station. (They have a shuttle but it only runs from 7-3) There was a parking garage near the Metra that only cost $1.25 a day and was free on weekends! :) It was very easy to park, walk to the Metra station and hop on a train to go into the city. Not only did we save money through Priceline but we also saved money by eating their free breakfast buffet. They had a great assortment of yummy breakfast foods that are served from 7-10. They had doughnuts, cereal, pastries, toast, french toast, bagels, waffels that you made yourself, fruit, yogurt and english muffins. They had coffee, apple juice, orange juice and milk to drink. They best part was that they kept the buffet stocked so you don't have to get their at 7 to get a good selection of foods. I was very pleased with this hotel and I plan on staying here next year when I go back to Chicago. The hotel was very nice and the employees were very friendly. I totally recommend giving this hotel a try.
  9. I bid $25 for Arlington Heights and was rejected. I got a counter offer asking me to raise the price $6. I opted not to. Instead I added in Willowbrook, Schaumburg & Hoffman Estates and raised my bid to $27 and this time was accepted. Your Offer Price: $27.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $81.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $15.71 Total Charges: $96.71
  10. Thanks a lot for your replies! I'll have to look into getting a prepaid card somewhere and maybe use my moms card to put me as a guest. Thanks again!
  11. Hi everyone! I'm new here and I am going to make my first Priceline bid in a few days. I have a question about credit cards though. I no longer have one. Since I will be bidding online I was going to use my Webcertificate (It's like a prepaid card only you just use it online-You don't get a physical card.) Anyway, when reading that some hotels require a card at check in I became a little nervous. What if I get there and they won't let me check in because I don't have the actual CC? Do they do this? I know that it is for additional fees. Could I give them a cash deposit instead? The only other alternative would be to use my mom's CC and book it that way. If I took the card with me along with the print out of my confirmation would that be enough or would the hotel give me problems? Thanks a lot for any help you can provide! :)
