  1. Was trying to get the Fairfield Inn. Bid $35 North/Ridgeline at 3*, added Jackson and 2 1/2 stars and stayed at $33. Still rejected. Then bid $33 and dropped to 2* and was accepted. Check-In Date: Tue, Feb 21, 2006 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Wed, Feb 22, 2006 Check-Out Time: 11:00 AM Your Offer Price: $33.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $33.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.23 Total Charges: $44.23 FYI, last time I stayed at an Extended Stay, they charged for wireless access. However, there were so many hotels around that hotel, even though I paid the fee, I think I was actually using a different hotel's signal. You might try first.
  2. Saw that Priceline's best regular price (ie when NOT bidding) for 2* was $52. I guessed and bid $40. Should've gone lower because it was immediately accepted. Your Offer Price: $40.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.06 Total Charges: $53.06
  3. I bid $28, which seemed to be the magic number. It was rejected and I was told I could have a free rebid if I upped it by $7, which I did. Your Offer Price: $35.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $35.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.59 Total Charges: $46.59 Ack. I actually bid for the wrong nights. I called them, and after listening to several messages telling me there was no way to change any part of my reservation, I talked to a customer service rep who cancelled it and let me rebid for the right nights (2/7 - 2/8). I considered bidding $30, but was afraid and wasn't sure I'd get the rebid opportunity again, so I just did $35 again, and it was accepted.
  4. Dunno if it's the holidays or what, but did not get as good a deal as I'd been hoping. Did lots and lots of bidding. First, the bid I won today (12/7): Hyatt Pittsburgh Airport Your Offer Price: $33.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $66.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.96 Total Charges: $82.96 Started bidding on 11/21: $35 downtown 3* rejected $33 downtown 2.5* rejected $25 Greentree 3* rejected 11/22 $22 Greentree 2* rejected 11/28 $24 Greentree 2* rejected $26 Greentree+ downtown 2* rejected $28 Greentree + dwntwn + University 2* rejected 12/7 dates of 12/9 - 12/10 (only bids where not for both nights) $22 North Allegheny Valley 2* rejected $24 added West Mifflin 2* rejected $28 added University 2* rejected $20 added Downtown 2* rejected 12/7 dates of 12/9 - 12/11 $24 Airport 2.5* rejected $25 added Greetree 2.5* rejected $26 added University 2.5* rejected $27 added Downtown 2.5* rejected $29 added Mifflin 2.5* rejected 12/7 dates of 12/9 - 12/11 (restarted) $31 Airport & North Allegheny Valley 2.5* rejected, offer of retry with raise of $8, didn't do. $33 added Greentree won. When I bid on just the Airport with 2.5*, I should have started at $26. I only looked at subject lines and didn't read the bid postings to see that $25 and under consistently didn't win at the Airport Holiday Inn. I was actually shooting for the Airport Holiday Inn for under $30. Like I said, I'm a little disappointed I didn't get a 2.5* for a lower price. I even double checked that the Holiday Inn had rooms. Oh well, still better than nothing.
  5. I'm going to Pittsburgh in December and will be travelling around the city. I've never been there and since I'm travelling all over the city, I can stay anywhere. I don't know what the priceline areas are like. Does anyone have advice on where to avoid or shoot for? Greenlawn seems to have cheaper prices, but the last time I got a two star hotel (obviously a different city), it wasn't the safest place in the world. So any general Pittsburgh advice before I do more bidding would be appreciated! Thanks.
  6. I haven't stayed at a lot of hotels, but 2* seems a stretch for this one. Nice sized room, halfwall separating bed from a sitting area with loveseat. Has a mini fridge and a microwave. But in general facility was run down. Won't stay again, however, because they require you to show a drivers license and they copy it. I threw a fit so they didn't copy mine. Don't know how to bid and get one of the other hotels in this area (there are a ton) and yet avoid this hotel.
  7. Initially bid $22 in Cyfair. During bid Priceline said low chance of acceptance, so I changed it to $24. The bid was rejected. Cyfair only has 1 and 2* hotels. Added Brookhollow to my areas and submitted bid for $26 and it was accepted. Oh, taxes et all were 11.44 for a total of $37.44.
  8. Was surprised to get it so low when previous price posted was a couple of years old. The hotel was nice enough, but they're remodelling. They're currently working on floors 3-5 and hope to have those done the end of August. Then they'll be working on 5-8. I think they said they want to have all the work done before end of year. The rooms could use updating. There was still a lot of noise on my floor after the workers are supposed to stop, so they bumped me up to the 9th floor. Just something to be aware of.
  9. Entered a bid for Houston Brookhollow area for a 3* at $34. My first bid was accepted so I guess I started to high. Taxes and service fees were $12.89.
  10. Hi. Although I've used Priceline for airlines, never hotel. I need a hotel in for 7/21 only in Houston in one of three following areas and I'd love to have a hotel that provides a way to check email (I won't have my own computer with me): Houston NW Brookhollow Cyfair. I noticed there aren't many bid results for Cyfair or Brookhollow. Is there a reason for this? Bad areas to stay? Reviewing the hotel lists it looked like Priceline had slightly better hotels than Hotwire, but I don't really care which I use. There didn't seem to be as many bid results for Hotwire. All advice would be greatly appreciated. My absolute top budget for taxes/fees/everything is $65 but I'd love to be closer to $25-35. For now I'll be reading priceline site for how many bids I get. Thanks!
