  1. Thanks. I'd go for the DuPont property, but the only hesitation I have is what I read about the noise (from bars at night and dump trucks early morning!). Not very familiar with DC - have only been there once on a business trip and stayed at the Willard for 2 nights. So I have a tiny bit of familiarity with the downtown area. I'll do a bit more research and report back.
  2. At these prices, I will go for one of these rather than the Willard. I'm leaning towards the DuPont Circle property and the Downtown one (any color you can add to help choosing between these 2 would be greatly appreciated). But main question (if you're able to answer): I am really holding out in the hope that a more interesting property might show up in this price range, but at the same time don't want to lose out on these ones if it doesn't. What's your experience of DC at that time of the year (last 2 weeks of August)? Is this worth holding out for a few days or would you recommend I go for one of these? Thanks
  3. Thanks - I'll likely decide in another week or so and will post either way. Would be sweet if the Willard came up at a lower rate before that!
  4. Thanks - one question on the Capitol Hill property. When I use the regular Hotwire link from your website, it's showing me a different set of amenities than what I got using the green button on biddinghelper. The main link shows "pet friendly" and "spa services", which the green button doesn't. Could that be two different hotels? Those two amenities got me thinking it might be the Liaison. Thanks

  11. Resolved the matter with IHG - they have arranged with with hotel directly to provide the free weekend night. Thanks for all your help - and please close this thread.
  12. The HOTWIRE fees add up! total cost is a dollar short of booking the Roosevelt from Expedia and $25 less than booking from the hotel directly. So if my I don't win my tiff with IHG, I'll be using Expedia. Using links for IHG: I am an Ambassador member with IHG so I typically call them for the booking - it's easier when using points.Otherwise I would use your links (anything to do my bit to support all the good work you guys do). Thanks for your help - please close this thread.
  13. I've got a problem with this trip - I originally booked with Intercontinental the Barclay directly (total trip is August 17 to 24), using points for 3 nights and advance purchase for 2 and my complimentary weekend voucher for the weekend night (August 17 to 19). I've misplaced/lost my complimentary Ambassador weekend voucher and they will not honor anything but that piece of paper. While I'm fighting this out with IHG, I thought I'd look for a hotel (4*) close by for those 2 nights (August 17 and 18). The Roosevelt would be ideally close - but need to be "reasonably certain". Questions is - what else could this be?

  15. (used your link for the search) Check-in: August 17 Check-out: August 19 3 adults, 1 child $198 per room/night Ameneties: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High Speed Internet Access Acessible for the blind Acessible for the deaf Acessible path of travel In-room accesibility Acessible bathroom This one sounds a lot like The Roosevelt - what's got me tied up in knots is that this is missing the "roll-in shower", but when I click "see all ameneties" the "roll in shower" does show up, right at the end. Thoughts?
  16. Turned out to be the Westin Book Cadillac indeed - booked it for $116. Thanks for your all your help - you guys are awesome.
  17. Thanks - before I go ahead with this purchase, are you able to offer any advice on some of the other 4* hotels in the area? I only checked downtown Detroit, but I'm not familiar with the city at all and since the purpose is to go the the Ford Field, I'm wondering if I should be including any other areas in my search.
  18. Just posted the follow-up on the Hartford thread - apologies for not having done that earlier.
  19. Ended up booking the Holiday Inn directly. Please close this thread (apologies for not closing this earlier).
  20. Hi - going to Detroit for the football game with my son. Never been there before - want to stay close to the stadium (preferably walking distance). This is the best I could find (anyone familiar with Detroit, please feel free to suggest other options – thanks. Looks like the Westin Book Cadillac from what I could see on your Hotwire list – but would be grateful for what you think: (used the link here for HOTWIRE) Check-In: December 22 Check-Out: December 23 2 adults Rate: $116 100% recommended Amenities: Indoor pool(s), Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking

Would appreciate your thoughts.
  22. Checked with Priorit Club this morning - they had a cancellation for one room today - grabbed it at $160. Did check while I was talking to them, and indeed they were showing availability - as opposed to yesterday - went back to search again, sold out. So pretty sure it was that one romm that became available. Unless these guys have become seriously smart! Please close this thread. I cannot believe I ended up getting the best available deals for the hotels directly except for the stay in Chicago ORD.
  23. That's what I think this (the Holiday Inn at Appleton - which is advertized for $104 at the Holiday Inn website) - and not the Holiday Inn Green Bay Stadium. Thanks for the link - gives me a good idea of what's out there (I sort of knew that - but was nice to see it on the map with availability/prices etc.). I think I might try some PRICELINE bidding tonight - it's only the two of us, so I can do that. I normally only use HOTWIRE for the comfort of knowing I have guaranteed beds for the four of us. And don't worry - will use the links :D
  24. My stay is for one night only (16th). From Holiday Inn website, there are only 2 properties within 30 radius of Lambeau Field - Holiday Inn Green Bay Stadium (which is showing as sold out) and Holiday Inn Express (which is for 165/night.
