Hotel Boutique not the fanciest. Bid a bunch of times, changing a bunch of factors. This is still cheaper than Hotels.com hotwire.com and PRICELINE EXPRESS
I had previously won the bid at $100. I called the Marriott and asked them if they would honour my rate for a second night. They said no. They told me the lowest price was $251 USD. I then pricelined a second room, got the same hotel for a second night, this time for $90 instead of $100, which is definitely better than $251.
CORRECTION: Jan 4-5, 2014 Zone 1 is Downtown East Collins - Federation Square I checked out previous Melbourne posts, saw the winning bid was $128. Went in, bid once at $100 and got it. Wish I had started at $90. The Marriott Website has the price listed at $182 USD, so I am still satisfied with $80 discount.
June 30 - July 2, 2012 Downtown Montreal - 4, 3.5, 3* - $75 2.5* -$70 Old Montreal - 4,3.5, 2.5*, 2* - $75 tried both areas again, 4 - 2.5* at $80 no luck
UPDATE: The prices in Boston are ridiculous during this weekend in particular because it is the 100th anniversary for Fenway Park and the Sox are playing the Yankees all weekend. Now I know why rates are quoted at $300/night minimum.
