  2. I used the HOTWIRE link and found a great deal for 7/18-7/22 so I pounced. Ended up with Hotel 71 at $146/night for 1 room for 2 adults and 2 children. I am very pleased with that price. I know I could've gotten a better deal on priceline but I needed beds for 4 people for this trip. I appreciate your help, thanks!
  3. Ok, I will try hotwire. The below 2 are showing up on hotwire now that would probably work. Any ideas as to which each is? 4-star Hotel in Magnificent Mile Area - River North $197/night This Hotel features the following amenities: Free Internet <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Boutique Hotel Property offers a distinctive, unique or eclectic atmosphere. 4. Can anyone suggest how I can bid a room in Chicago Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area or North Michigan Ave - River North Area for 2 adults and 2 children(ages 6 & 10). I don't care how small the room is, but I need at least 2 queen beds or 1 queen and 1 pull-out sofa. Is it possible to bid with that in mind?
  5. Good score! You will like that property. Excellent location and nice hotel.
  6. I used the board's PRICELINE link. I have been working on this one for awhile, I had time and knew I wanted the Holiday Inn so I just stuck with 3* bids. Started at $60 and went up $5/day being rejected every day until today. $90 bid was accepted. Room is normally $119 so not much savings here.
  7. 4 people in 2 rooms for 8/18 - 8/22 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $88.00 Subtotal: $704.00 Taxes & Fees: $122.80 Total Charges*: $826.80 I used the PRICELINE link and I'm happy with this price for that weekend!
  8. That worked, thanks! Got the Hotel Felix for $88. I'll post in the Priceline - Illinois forum too. Used the link! :)
  9. I think I'll go 4* up to my limit and then try 3.5* after that. Do you think I should start bidding now or wait a month or more. When would the best availability probably be?
  10. Hi, I'm needing 2 rooms for 8/18/2011-->8/22/2011 in either North Michigan Ave - River North Area or Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area either 3 1/2* or 4*. My budget is $80-$100 per night per room. Is it too soon to start bidding or what time frame is the ideal bid time?
  11. runNgun, thanks for the tips! I'm not in a hurry so I'll book a cancellable for now and see what shakes out as we get closer. I know what you mean about it being a Sunday night in the off season, that's why I couldn't understand why my bid wasn't getting accepted. Maybe they're getting a lot of pre-cruise stays or something??? What do you think is a reasonable bid amount and how long do you think I should wait? Don't worry, I'll certainly use the links. This board is way to valuable not to support it in every way!
  12. Hi, I've been trying to get a 3* on priceline in the airport area on 11/4/07 for 1 night. Below is what I bid so far. $38, $40, $42, $45, $48, $51, $57 It looks like I could add the downtown zone and 2.5* and I could get the Amerisuites. That would be good too. I saw on Hotwire what looks like the Amerisuites for that night is listed at $62. Question is, what should I bid on priceline to try to get it? Or should I just get it on hotwire? Or how much higher would I have to go to get a 3* in the airport zone?
  13. Yikes, that stinks. I guess I'll check into some of the other zones. Thanks for your help! I'll post again with my results.
  14. Hi, I need to get a room for that one night in Orlando in the Universal area. Should I wait until closer to the date of travel or doesn't it matter? I've tried a couple of low-ball bids already ($31, $34) and both were rejected. It's looking like I'll have to spend somewhere in the $40s to get that room though.
  15. We had 5 rooms at this hotel 9/22/05 - 9/25/05. I agree with pretty much everything hannahb352 said, although the pool was pretty clean while we were there. The kids had a great time in it. I sleep pretty soundly so the fan and thin walls didn't bother me. We were on the 4th floor, but the fans and walls are still thin. The staff there was very nice though. 2 of our rooms were upgraded to the 4th floor so we got free breakfast Sat/Sun. I talked to the staff Saturday telling them my whole family would really like to eat breakfast together Sunday morning but 3 rooms would've had to pay $15 a plate! They said no problem, and gave us all free hot breakfast! It was very good too. Not worth $15 but certainly way above average. Being a sound sleeper, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

  17. Your Offer Price: $48.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $96.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $22.04 Total Charges: $118.04 Started from the SavingsBarn.com website. Another first bid and plenty cheap for me! Thanks for the great site!
  18. Your Offer Price: $48.00 Number of Rooms: 4 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $384.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $68.08 Total Charges: $452.08 Started from the SavingsBarn.com website. This was a complicated one as you can tell from my other posts. I needed 3 rooms for 9/23-9/25 and 2 rooms for 9/22-9/25. Luckily it all worked out great since the Sheraton was the only 3* in Brookfield. We all really wanted to be at the same hotel. I had to run one room seperate for 9/23-9/25 since priceline only lets you go up to 4 rooms. This was my first bid and plenty cheap for me! Thanks for the great site!
  19. Good news! The 3* strategy worked out perfectly. Thank you VERY much!
  20. That is a very good point on the 3*, thanks! I think I'll try that and see what happens. I searched everywhere and the Sheraton is the only 3* I can find for the Brookfield area so I think that will be a pretty safe bet. I'll post up how it goes!
  21. Yes, that's correct. Is it pretty risky to do 2 different bids and hope we get the same hotel?
  22. Hi, I've got a complicated one here. :) With family, I need 2 rooms for 3 nights, Sept 22 - 25, and 3 rooms for 2 nights, Sept 23 - 25. Looks like I would probably end up with the Courtyard or the Country Inn & Suites which either way would be just fine. I've seen other posts winning at less then $40, so I would like my maximum to be around $45. Do I have a chance? If so, what strategy should I apply? I would like all rooms at the same hotel. Do I have a good chance of that happening? Thanks!
  23. Thank you! Yeah, I probably should've asked this time but I'm still pretty happy with what I ended up with. Next time I'll try for even a better deal! This board is awesome, thanks again!
  24. First bid of $80 was accepted. Used SavingsBarn.com. Congratulations, you got your price of $80 for a 3-star hotel room. Club Quarters Central Loop Chicago Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park 111 West Adams Street Chicago, IL 60603 312-214-6400 Check-In Date: Sun, Jul 24, 2005 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Jul 27, 2005 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $80.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $240.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $46.30 Total Charges: $286.30 Thank you for all the information on this board! This was the first time I've tried to use Priceline and I'm satisfied so far with my results! I probably should've started with a lower bid, but oh well. :)
