  8. Hello again - I'm looking for a place in Amsterdam Jan. 2-4, 2012 - will be my son & myself. It looks as if most places listed are in the Museum Quarter - so that's just fine. I'm ready to bid now (since vacation isn't until the end of the year, I'm a bit anxious - gives me something to look forward to.) Of course, I'd like to spend as little as possible, but will say $70.00 to $100.00 would be my budget (even less if I can get away with it! :)) Thanks for the help!! TZ
  9. Of course - I haven't done this for a while and it shows!! Dates are 06/24/11 to 06/26/11 Amenities = Breakfast, Fitness Center, Bus. Ctr., Laundry facilities, high-speed internet access.
  10. Got 2.5* Holiday Inn Express -Williamsburg Square - $70/night Went through the HOTWIRE link I found on the website. Got this hotel (or one that was in Williamsburg Square a few years ago & was happy with it.) Thanks again for your help!
  11. Took the plunge and made the booking. 2.5* $156.00 + fess/taxes - total = $194.90 Amenities listed on receipt = Suite, Laudnry Facilities, Fitnes Center, High-speet Internet, Bus. Ctr, Kitchenette I went through your HOTWIRE link. Thanks again for the help - won't be much longer now!!
  12. Dates = 08/26/10 for one night. Was able to score concerts ticket at Highline Ballroom. Since we'll be coming into Penn Station, I think I'd like to stay in that area so we can leave our bags at the hotel for the day, do some sightseeing and not have to walk too far to the station after we've collected our bags. 2.5 * $156.00 Suite, Fitness Center, Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access, Kitchenette This may be Candlewood Suites? I think I may lean toward this one 3.5* - $174.00 - doesn't list any amenities? Thanks for any help. If you're pretty sure the 2.5* is Candlewood Suites, I'll book that one this week. It will be an excellent choice!
  13. Need to pick son up from Woodward Camp - Rec'd 2.5* Hampton Inn State College for 08/07/10 to 08/08/10 Amenities: Airport Shuttle, Restaurant, Complimentary bkfst, Hi-speed internet access, pool I used the board's HOTWIRE link. Thanks again for all the help over the years. Jane :)
  14. SUCCESS I went up to full price of $115.00 and got the Thistle Marble Arch. We've stayed at the Marble Arch on our last trip and will be happy there as we "know" the area. $115.00 for 9 nights $1,035.00 + $185.85 taxes & fees $1,220.85 total price Thank you again for the help - I went through your PRICELINE link. Yippee!!! Jane
  15. Well, bummer - nothing today. The best I got was $126.00 with the Bloomsbury-Marble Arch pick. Will try again in the next few days and let you know. Thanks again for the help - I'll keep you posted. Jane
  16. Good morning. Trip to London pick up son from study abroad semester. Dates: 05/13/10 to 05/22/10 2 people, max bid $115/night Preferences - 4* hotel: 1) Mayfair-Soho 2) Bloomsbury-Marble Arch 3) Westminster We'll be going to Paris during this time frame as well. I currently have two separate, cancellable (is that a word?) ressies at a B&B across the street from St. Pancras. However, if I can get a "Priceline" room, I'm willing to "eat" the price of that room for 2 nights/3 days which will, most likely, equal the left luggage cost + aggro of dragging bags to left luggage at St. Pancras (after spending 5 mos. away, I expect my son will have at least 4 bags!) I'm ready to make the reservations now. Obviously, I have loads of time, but if I can get a room for $90-$115/night that would be great. Thank you for any help you can lend. I'll go through your link when I make the reservation. Jane
  17. I was able to find a hotel for less than $46 in Terminal 5 for the one night prior to morning flight. Decided to go with that one instead of through HOTWIRE.
  18. Hello Looking to take my son to Paris for a few days after his semester abroad. May 17 to May 19, 2010. Came across 3* Paris near Eiffel Tower for $146.00 The only amenity is a restaurant. Do you have any ideas? Re: my prior post for London in February, did not take the Heathrow hotel as I was able to book a hotel at Terminal 5 for less than the Hotwire price. Thanks for any help you can lend - Happy Holidays!! Jane :)
  19. Hi - I'm looking for a one night stay at hotel near Heathrow night before flight out. Date is 02/12/10. Came across 3.5* with fitness, resto, internet, business at $46.00! Do you think this is the Holiday Inn at M4? I'm not sure what terminal I'll be leaving out of, but figure if this is the hotel, I can take the shuttle and just wander around until I find where I need to go. Thanks for any help. Jane
  20. Got back a few days ago. I LOVED this hotel. We walked all over - so true about "knowing" more about where you are/what you're doing when you're on foot. The shops, people, Comcast lobby, City Hall, Ben Franklin Pkwy, Art Museum, Eastern State Pen. - everything was just - for lack of a better word - fun. The people working in all the stores, etc. were so kind. As for the hotel - the room was large with 2 queen beds, a chair/ottoman, desk w/free internet, POOL on the 8th floor (we were in rm. 808, the pool was right around the corner, but we didn't go in - out & about all day), large TV. The only minor complaint I would have was the small bathroom. Seriously, you could barely close the door if you were sitting on the toilet and not hit your knees. Coffee pot w/coffee & tea was provided. Other than that - we had a fab time and intend on making our few day stay in Philly an annual "thing." I love the fact that Hotwire and Priceline allow this single parent to afford to take her son places that would not initially have been possible. Thanks again for your help - next stop will be London in May or June 2010!! Guess I'll be talking to you then!! Jane :)
  21. Thanks again for the help! The hotel and surroundings were fab!! My Mom is originally from VA and LOVED the buildings and decoration of "The Square." There are restaurants in the "parking lots" of all the hotels (Olive Garden + Outback.) Check in was painless, our room was large w/king bed + pull out sofa, desk (free internet), TV (HBO), two sinks (one outside bathroom), shower - no tub w/fantastic shower head and water pressure. Plenty of towels/soaps/shampoo, etc. If you forget anything (which I always seem to do), you can request toothbrush/paste, razor, etc. from the front desk. The free breakfast was a great way to start our day and eaten in a beautifully decorated room (eggs, bacon or sausage, toast/bagels/biscuits, yogurt, cereals, muffins, juices, coffee/tea.) Computer set up downstairs, exercise place also. We toured Penn State one day (VERY easy to get to) and drove back & forth to Woodward to see my son - not a bad drive either and enjoyed all the open SPACE - so different from where we are. Makes me want to go back to PSU all over again!! Jane
  22. I just gave it a shot and got the Holiday Inn Express State College for $71/night - with taxes for the 2 nights it came to $159.05. Not bad!! Thanks again for the help Oh - I went through your link on your reply to my initial question. Jane :)
  23. We'll be going up there 07/31/09 to 08/02/09 to pick up my son from Woodward (he's a skateboard instructor there.) 2.5* in State College Amenities = Breakfast and internet $75.00 night Thanks for any help!!
  24. You were right!! Crowne Plaza for $69.00/night. Amenities = Fitness, pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Total w/those pesky "fees" = $164.56 I checked their website for a "regular ressie" which would have been $310.49. Will be fun to be a tourist in our own city!! Thanks again for the help. Jane
  25. Dates = 08/13/09 to 08/15/09 Amenities = Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry. Currently $69.00/night. Thanks for any help!! Jane
