thanks for the sympathy, and restaurant news. i feel a little cheated, as most sites have it at 3.5 star, and it is out of the way. Booking.com even lists it as a 3star. only orbitz has it as a 4star, and that is apparently enough for the folks at HOTWIRE. i went in and grabbed all the amenities. Free Internet Pet friendly Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Golf Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower one last thing. their own affiliate, Hotels.com lists the hotel at 3.5 how can that be?

Just had really bad luck. We selected 4 star, in the loop-theater district. $169. Amenities: golf nearby Free Internet pet friendly Fitness Facility Business Centre Restaurant Blind Accessible Deaf accessible. They gave us the Crowne Plaza Metro. Nearly every site lists it at 3.5 star. (Booking.com lists it as a 3star) we called customer service, 30 mins of being talked down to. they said they take the average of Orbitz, Expedia, and Travelocity. Only orbitz has it as a 4star. but that is good enough for them. anyways, Hotwire views this property as a 4star.

Gave hotwire a try internationally for the first time. rolled the dice. was hoping for a bit more of a name brand. But trip advisor ratings seem alright. hopefully it works out.

I was able to use the BetterBidding list of hotwire hotels to identify the Wyndham Beacon Hill. We haven't seen the $117 again, it was like a blip for a couple of hours. We are super happy with the price and location. I love this site.

It was really tough to get a good deal in Montreal for the long weekend. This place seems ok. It is close to a couple of train and metro stations. I started at $50 and was increasing with the standard betterbidding strategy. I booked going through the PRICELINE link provided on this site. Thanks.

using the bidding formula posted in other threads 4* MTE and MTW $120 Dec 18 and Dec 19 entered opening bid of $120 and it snagged me the Grand Hyatt New York. thanks for everything guys. i'm blown away by the result.

I'd like to spend less than $150 per night if possible.

I would like to beat the $199 block rate. I see the $130 to $150 range, and would love to score something like that. I realize it's a Saturday right before xmas, but even a $25 dollar savings would be worth it. I am going to the wedding regardless, and worst case is $199. so that would be my cap.

Hello, the Mrs and I are going to a wedding in Jersey, but thought we'd make the most of it and pop into NYC. We'd prefer 3*'s or better. We used to stay at the Pod, but the prices have shot up. My sister had good luck bidding before and scored the Club Quarters on Wall Street. Anyways, our dates are a little odd, Sunday Dec 18 and Monday Dec 19. We'd be into DT/SoHo/Financial district. Any Bidding advice/strategies/etc would be appreciated. I look forward to using the links that the forum provides. Thanks.

Hello, I am invited to a wedding in Jersey City on Dec 17. There is a block of rooms at the Westin for $199 However, after looking at the site for the last few weeks, I see that the hotel, and other 4* hotels are coming in at a much more cost effective rate. the plan is to go into NYC for a few days after the wedding to grab some pizza, and check out the lights at 30 Rock, etc. I'd really like to stay at the westin, however, I'd be willing to stay at any of the other 4* hotels if the price was right. I'm also not entirely against paying the cancellation fee if we don't get the westin. I'm looking forward to using the Links provided to help the forum. and i'll re-bid, etc by always coming back to the betterbidding links. Any suggestions/strategies would be appreciated. Thank you.
