  1. Never mind! My guess was correct. Secrets Wild Orchid All Inclusive (although Hotwire did not describe it as all inclusive in the search) $317 night, $790.03 total after taxes. Almost booked directly with the hotel which is $501 per night but noticed an additional mandatory $80 fee for New Years and decided to take a chance. $501 was already a bit much, charging extra fees was unacceptable.

Closing thread! In case anyone ever comes along....

  2. Hello! If someone could please assist that would be greatly appreciated. Below are the two properties I'm interested in for New Years Eve. I've booked my flight and used my two free Hyatt nights to book Hyatt Zilara from 01/02 - 01/04 in Montego Bay. Would really love to stay at Secrets Wild Orchid for actual New Years Eve so here's my question. I've read here a couple times that the amenity set listed with a casino is likely Secrets St James so is it plausible that the 4.5 star for $317 could be Secrets Wild Orchid even though it doesn't specify all-inclusive? Based on the shaded area Secrets is the only property that matches 4.5 stars. There is a Sunset Beach Resort but its a 3.5 star property at best. Wild Orchid is usually $4-$6 higher than St James when comparison browsing online. Hotwire only lists two 4.5 star hotels in the search so I was hoping my assumption is correct but of course I realize there are no guarantees. (yes, I'm using the Hotwire link from this website) Thanks for any assistance!

  3. The lowest price the site offered from the regular list for the dates I chose was $629 rt flying with United. I tried NYOP using the dates Oct 28th - Nov 1st and put in $405 which came to a total of $412 just to try my luck. Priceline said they couldn't find an airline to match my request but offered me the option of a rt flight taxes included for $384 if I left a day early. United was the airline I ended up with. Fantastic deal, I can't wait to celebrate my birthday in the Dominican Republic! ~_~

  4. Hello,

I managed to book an amazing deal for a rt flight from SFO to PUJ for $384 taxes included Oct 28th - Nov 1st via Priceline and I'm currently searching for a hotel. When I put in the dates Oct 29th - Nov 1st on Priceline it shows me an option for a 4* hotel in the "Cap Cana Oceanfront Area" under Express Deals for $85 per night. The only amenities listed are indoor/outdoor pool and fitness center. This might be an exercise in futility but would anyone happen to know what hotel this could possibly be or even which hotels Priceline may have listed for this area? I've never seen Cap Cana Oceanfront Area on Priceline when previously searching and there's no hotel showing that particular area on the regular list view so its difficult to narrow it down. Any help would be greatly appreciated but this might be something completely new so I understand if I may not get an answer. Using the PRICELINE link found on this website of course. Thanks! :)

  5. Hi,

Thank you for posting. Sorry to hear this didn't work out as expected. I considered using Hotwire for Punta Cana but after this I'd rather take my chances with Priceline. I really think you should keep pressing Hotwire to refund your money since the Grand Palladium is clearly not considered a 4.5 star hotel on any comparable website. Hotwire shouldn't be allowed to continue making a profit with misleading information. Good luck!

  6. That definitely makes a difference. But if it's not updated in realtime that's kind of misleading for the purchaser. If a hotel was chosen and paid for but you later realized the TA rating was inaccurate will Hotwire possibly offer a refund or at least move you to a property that matches the information which was presented to you at the time of purchase? Reviews are a significant factor for most when comparing hotels so I would hope that some kind of compromise can be reached if the information they provided is no longer correct.

  7. Hello,

The price per night is listed as $109. Here is the complete amenity set below. I'm using the HOTWIRE link from this site for searches :) Any idea what property this might be? 95% Hotwire recommended, 4.5 Tripadvisor rating

Dates 10/28/13 - 11/01/13 (changed occupancy to 1 person in search) Thanks!

  8. I dont think this property has been reported to the board yet because I recently asked the same question. But if I had to guess I would say the Holiday Inn based on the beahfront location, kids program and 3.5 rating on tripadvisor. The location of Holiday Inn on Palm Beach is fabulous but the rooms not so much unless you ask to be placed in the newly re-opened Curacao Tower. There aren't many 3 1/2 star hotels to choose from in Aruba. I think the other two are Manchebo and Playa Linda but both of them have 4.5 star ratings on Tripadvisor. Good luck!

  9. when I placed my bid for a hotel in Aruba there was no longer a resort option available or anything above a 4* rating. which I'm assuming means that all of the properties listed as 4* on their website could now be a potential win when bidding including the Renaissance. (which sucks) wasnt happy with the Westin win at all and even though it was NYOP I managed to get a full refund. not taking a chance on bidding in Aruba again. good luck

  10. *sigh* I was hoping for the Marriott Stellaris and willing to pay full price but my travel companion prefers to find the cheapest deal possible so this is what we ended up with after NYOP on Priceline. Its beachfront which is always nice and Aruba will be lovely in general but their rooms need serious updating! Property is old, drab and boring compared to most other 4 star hotels on the island. Really dont think the Westin should continue to be listed in the 4 star category. Anywho here's my win :) Ended up being $393 after taxes and fees. I'm lowering my expectations so I can just enjoy the decent deal and not be nit picky

Dates should be listed as October 30th - November 2nd

  11. This listing has not yet been ID'd, but I'd guess this is a new amenity set for the Westin.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

That's what I figured. Thank you! Could you please also help me identify this 3.5 star on HOTWIRE, same dates for $96 night. 80% recommended

  12. Pet friendly was only introduced as an amenity about a week or so ago, so as hotels are reported with it the lists are being updated.

Both services really require some degree of flexibility; if you bid for a 4* in an area, you can get upgraded to the resort level. There is no way to avoid a particular property or target a particular property. HOTWIRE (generally) only shows one listing per star rating for each set of dates; it may not be the one you are looking for and information associated with listings can always change.

Please provide the full list of amenities showing with the HOTWIRE listing and we would be happy to take a look and offer our thoughts.

  13. Hello,

There is a four star hotel listed on Hotwire with these dates for $125 but included with the amenities set is, pet friendly, and that seems to be solely listed for the Westin which I'm not absolutely against but I would definitely prefer the Aruba Marriott so it looks like Priceline is my best bet for a decent deal. I don't think I've seen anyone state this property has been won on Hotwire but I could be wrong. Is it better to bid for 4* only and not add resorts to the process? Is there anyway to exclude the Renaissance from becoming a possibility when bidding on Priceline? If there really isn't a way to up my chances for this property I may just pay full price to avoid the Renaissance and Westin.

Not a new member, checked my messages and I'm using the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links listed on this site.

    Thanks

  14. Hello,

I've been watching the Strip prices the last few weeks on both HOTWIRE and PRICELINE (using the links from this website) and they seem to be slowly decreasing. The Trump is currently $243 per night for 12/31-01/02 so I was wondering if I should book as soon as possible or wait a little longer to see if the price drop continues. Not familiar with booking in Vegas for New Years Eve. I know that prices sometimes drop at the last minute if hotels aren't full but I don't know if its wise to wait another couple weeks in this case. Currently the Trump is $314 per night for these same dates on Priceline. Prices in general have been decreasing slowly but this is the only hotel I plan to stay in so that's what I'm focusing on. Please advise! Trying to decide if this is as good as its going to get pricewise.

    :) Thanks
