  1. Got this for some family members touring Vegas and the Grand Canyon after my wedding.

I first tried for a 2*, 4 rooms at $21 which seemed like a winner but Priceline was slow responding (went to the check status ... up to 15 mins screen) which I suspect had to do with rejecting the number of rooms. Seems that once the price matches, they verify other things like number of rooms before accepting or declining. The same thing happened on my other 2* bids up to $26.

I than tried again for a 3*at $35 and got a counter to add $9.

I dropped down to 2.5* and bid $30 and got a counter to add $8 ... I bid $32, $33, $34 and won at $35. I rebid again and added two more rooms.

I used Sedona as a non-free rebid as the zone jumps from 2* up to resort and the odd chance of winning was worth the minimal risk.

  2. My cousin found this amazing deal.

I called their 1-800 number to book because I needed 6 rooms ... and over the phone they also confirm the reservation on the spot. Through their website, it says it may take 24 hours to confirm.

They also let you specify your room type unlike our friends at Hotwire and Priceline.

Total per night with taxes was $19.54

The cheapest I found elsewhere was $26.00 on Travelocity.

For real bargain hunters, you can call Orleans Hotel directly and use their best-price guarantee giving you another 5% discount.

    Orleans has great reviews: Reviews

  3. I'm planning a cheap honeymoon getaway in Waikiki Beach.

I can't answer you on the room type however, I can help you with the "cheap" :) part...

An option for you to consider is the 3* Renaissance Ilikai in the Waikiki North zone which goes for only $58 on Priceline. It is also available for your dates ... by looking at Priceline Vacations, it comes up as the cheapest 3* listed.

I know it does not compare to the Outrigger Reef in proximity to the beach but it is great to consider for the extremely low price, favorable reviews and that it was just rennovated. Some other websites like easyclicktravel rate it as a 4.5*.

  4. Got this for friends... I bid the first night at $37 just to see what counter I would get and won (Hotwire had it listed for $46). I than bid for the second night $33, $35, $36 and won again at $37.

  5. I bid this for friends of my brother.

    I tried downtown up to $70 for a 3* and up to $50 for a 2*.

After bidding $30 for a 2* at Dorval, I got a counter to add $8. I rebid using non-free rebids as all zones were acceptable $33, $33 and struck at $34.

  6. I got this for a customer at the bank where I now work who used to play for the NFL ... I was really trying to impress him ... and this definitely worked. I first tried Priceline hoping for the $25 Hyatt OC .... and rebid $36. Not wanting to waste time, I just grabbed this. I had predicted it to be the Crowne Plaza resort after checking Hotwire Vacations ... it wasn't ... but still has very decent reviews and a free shuttle to Disney. Cheapest conventional rate is $72.62.

  7. My parents are flying into Phoenix for the holidays ... and to help with the wedding planning.

We decided on a short trip to San Diego for Christmas to visit family.

I tired 4* La Jolla up to $50 and was shocked not to win the Hyatt :)

I than tried Rancho Bernardo up to $48 for a 3* and also failed at Del Mar up to $40 (just trying for fun of it .. as the hotels in this zone all charge for parking so it wasn't that preferred)

I would love to have bid 2.5* for Mira Mesa (free breakfast at a rez inn) but unfortunatly, PL Vacations showed the 3* Prime Hotel as the cheapest in the zone and I feared the likely upgrade ... Most Prime Hotels are converted old Wyndhams and Radissons and should be avoided!!!

PL/Vac showed the Holiday Inn as the cheapest for Mission Valley and the reviews were decent ... so, I tried $38 and got a counter to add $11, I bid $40 and finally won at $41. Than, added a second room.

  8. Most times we don't have much recourse with inferior rooms :) however, in this case we actually may...

I am pasting the details below from their website. This is not the same as where a Hilton let's say puts you in an inferior room. With the Atlantis, you can either book the 4* section (Tower) or the "budget" Motorlodge ...

It should be the same as at the 4* Waldorf=Astoria in NYC where the Waldorf Towers is treated separately as a 5*and you can bid for it through priceline separately.

Hotwire is selling you a 4* so you should therefore be entitled to a tower room and have a great basis to make a claim if you get lodged based on what is written in Atlantis's website below. My own experience with Hotwire is they handle claims/complaints very fairly.

    From their website: http://www.atlantiscasino.com/index.asp?pa...otorlodge_rooms

    "Motor Lodge Rooms

The perfect choice for the value-conscious guest seeking economy and convenience. A separate 2-story building located adjacent to the Hotel Tower, Motor Lodge guests may access all the Casino Resort-Spa facilities. Dine in any of the eight exceptional restaurants, get in on all the non-stop gaming action on the casino floor and much more. Quality, affordability and value go hand in hand at Atlantis."

The reviews on tripadvisor talk about the poor quality of the "motor lodge"... which is the reason for my concern.

    TripAdvisor Reviews

Personally, because of the unique situation with this hotel, I would contact Hotwire first .. and hope they come up with an answer.

  9. Got this for my cousin... there are two Intercontinentals in Downtown ... this is the one near the Yorkville shopping district (where Canadians go celebrity-spotting)

I bid Don Valley 3* up to $80 (she won here last new year's for $50-something)

    Downtown 4* up to $80

    Downtown 3* up to $80

    Markham 3* up to $65

than, I returned to bidding 4* downtown and at $100, I got my first counter offer to add $22.

    I tried $105 ... and won at $108 finally.

  10. My aunt originally wanted New Years but changed her mind after seeing the rates...

For this win, she was only interested in this zone ... looking for the Grand Hyatt which was showing up the cheapest on PL Vacations. She was amazed to win this. MTW was too risky because there are three sharing the room.

I first bid $110 which was rejected, I than jumped straight to $130 and won. I thought it would take $140 so these bids were just for fun.
