  1. Yes, tried that too and you are right about checking in "my trips" or "my profile", that does work normally but not in this case. It really does take a long. What can I say, they have spoilt us with the quick responces. I remember months ago, wiating this long was the norm. I just emailed PL asking about the delay .... I will paste their response when I get it.
  2. Now, I just began bidding for a friend for Long Island. The particular hotel accpets $35, or $40 and he needs different dates .... so with this PL problem, this could take hours. Already placed a bid and have waited 20 minutes. If I email PL to ask why ... I can already guess the uselss repsonse I will get.
  3. I had this same problem last week where it took 20-30 minutes for each bid and they were all rejected. Today, the same thing .... the new "seaching" screen disappears immediately and I get the "thank you for your request" screen. With my free rebids .... this may take forever. Anyone else notice this recently???
  4. It is a waste of time .... there prices are generally high and are nothing compared to the savings of PL. The only good rates are their flight options that only appear in your counter-offer after bidding on PL for a flight. Example ... after bidding on PL for BUF to LAX, I got an offer from Lowestfare for $222 BUT if you go directly to Lowestfare and search the flight, their price is $304.
  5. I spent close to 10 hours walking around downtown and there is endless parking spots BUT they were all taken. I guess your only bet is to get there before business hours. Also, you mentioned Sat morning, all the meters charge on Saturdays and the signs only say "Sunday excepted" for parking more than 2 hours or over night. If you are bidding for a date close by, you might try $33 and than $38 to get the Wyndham or best case ... Hyatt Penns Landing, I wouldn't chance the additional $$$ for Loews. Having said that, I still think Loews may just reject you as the parlor room would be disputable on a PL stay. Another option which I considered if I didn't get street parking was to park in NJ and take the train into Philly ... that would save plenty but I do not know how safe your car is over night.
  6. OK I am not a big complainer usualy BUT in this case, it really paid off. I loved my room and the hotel itself BUT they do have a habit of over-charging. In my case, they tried to add on phone calls until I broght down the in-room directory which listed they were free. They immediately removed the charges. They also tried to tack on additional taxes which were also removed (over an above the $2/night hotel tax). On New Years Eve, my car got blocked in for the whole night and because of this, they removed my parking charges for the whole stay without even asking. Finally, because of the holidays, the restaurant was closed for dinner so I emailed PL and also mentioned the hotel's over charging ... PL refunded me two nights. Now, I could email PL for many of my stays as ... for example, the Hilton Cherry Hill had no alarm clock in my room becuase of their renovations, the water was announced to be turned off for 5 hours for two days in a row or the Radisson MacAurthur's (Long Island, NY) restaurant was closed on a Sunday of my stay ... BUT I will limit my PL email complaints to once or twice a year.
  7. I got this for a friend who needed one extra night in Montreal ... her company put her up for the rest of her stay. This $25 rate seemed to only be available back in April/May or late August. I tried bidding many times for dates in June and July to go and study the restaurant concept "Zyng Noodlery" which is expanding into the US BUT got rejected up to $40. The trick to getting this rate is to check hotwire ... when on your dates they list a 3* downtown for $27 ... this is it and you can get it for $25 on PL.
  8. Further proof of this is when you check out (or check in for that matter), glance at their reservation form and you will see that PL's Master Card number is listed there and has not been charged yet. After the stay, it has still not been charged .... that particular MC number is a one-time use number which I still have yet to learn how it works. I saw this first hand at a Fairfield Inn. Something suprising, at the Hilton Chery Hill the other day, I checked the on the TV account status and it showed my bill and room rate of $32. Usually, Hiltons are very good at not revealing this amount and showing a zero-balance.
  9. I was really happy about winning this after seeing their website. The hotel rooms offer a full kitchen and a DVD player. The front desk has a wide selection of free movies, cans of soda are only a quarter, free laundry facilities and they even have a pantry of grocery items where you pay on the honor system. I can't remember what they offer for internet service??? Fairfax 11400 Random Hills Road Fairfax, Virginia 22030 703-359-4490
  10. This hotel is about 20 minutes plus from DC. Fairfax 3950 Fair Ridge Drive Fairfax, Virginia 22033 703-385-7774 After bidding this, I got the Candlewood for the rest of my nights. The Candlewoods looks incredible for a long stay ... I 'was' pretty happy I didn't get the HGI for the whole stay (I may think differently after completing the stay and especially now that I am staying in and loving an HGI)
  11. This is a brand new hotel in North Toronto up on Highways 7 and 404. Great hotel .... the colors, room set up, sink outside the bathroom, lighting, lobby BUT no free internet or free breakfast. Excellent deal .... I got this just to have a place to tidy up after attending a 10KM walk for charity (I ended up walking 0 KM and socializing instead). I think I am finally caught up on posting all my past winning bids.
  12. Looking back now, I wish I had booked closer to/in Boston or at least something different ... I was trying to cheap out instead and bid this same hotel previously for the same amount. Woburn - Wakefield 15 Middlesex Canal Park Road Woburn, Massachusetts 01801 781-935-8760
  13. I bid the zone (Chelmsford - Lowell) with the Andover - Nashua area. I wonder if Radisson rewards stays on PL bookings .... if so, I have too many to count. From there brochure, they award a free night after 5 nights. Chelmsford - Lowell 10 Independence Drive Chelmsford, Massachusetts 01824 978-256-0800
  14. I always post 'after bonus' amounts .... but in this case, the $71 Can was the net result.
  15. Got this before for my cousin who came to NYC for some job interviews. I had bragged about the Park Hyatt going for $75 in MTE but wasn't able to get anything .... bid $85 and than jumped to $93 hoping for the Westin. He didn't really care which hotel anyway becuase he spent most nights in the clubs.
  16. Got this for my family for their early flight out of BUF to LAX. I called many of the airport hotels and this one offers free parking as long as you want ... BUT has no shuttle to the airport. Taxi is $12 each way. Airport parking would have cost $38 for a week plus a day so this definitely works out better/cheaper for both their cars and they do not have to worry about leaving early morning and potential delays at the Canadian border. Buffalo Airport (BUF) 52 Freeman Dr Williamsville, New York 14221 716-626-1500
  17. I forgot to mention the free high speed internet!!! Perhaps the best part. At other hotels, I make it a habit to go to local libraries or a college to use the net. Kinko's is my last resort and that costs 20-30 cents a minute. The Hilton I was at recently, charged 59 cents a minute in their business center ... more ways to milk business customers who don't care. The highest I have seen was at a Sheraton, 79 cents/minute. HGI offers a free business center with no charge for printing... I have once in the past, stopped off at an HGI and asked to use their business center ... the desker had no problem at all and I stayed there for an hour. He even offered me cookies.
  18. I have to say, Hilton Garden Inn's are my absolute favorite hotels ... they are always exactly the same and relatively newly built. Unlike 3*'s (Hiltons, Sheratons) which always vary and even Radissons and Courtyards which can be converted hotels, HGI's are consistent. The front desk staff always treat you like you are a CEO and try their hardest to remember your name. This is my third HGI stay and second through PL ... they always can see you are a PL customer but still give you HH perks. My next HGI will be in Oakbrook IL for 11 nights and there, they even upgrade all HH guests to the full breakfast buffet from the usual continental breakfast. The only complaint about this particular hotel is my room you have to flush twice for a full flush and there was one hair in the tub ... but that is nothing great to make me change rooms.
  19. I am in the Hotwire "my account" section and it does show the ammenities you mentioned BUT it does not mention here that it is the customer favorite. However, it was the "customer favorite" when I placed the search. The hotel's website also refers to this hotel as the "Doubletree Denver-Boulder" in the write up. That was perfect as my friend needs to be in Boulder.
  20. Thereuare .... tell me about it, but I have to admit, using Hotwire is as exciting as PL in terms of waiting to find out which hotel you get. I could have separated the bid dates and gone for the Omni or Westin 4*'s but the person I was bidding for wanted to stay at one place. From the email confirmation.... Location: Denver, CO City Area: Westminster - Broomfield Hotel Quality: 3-star Midscale Doubletree Hotel Denver North 8773 Yates Drive Westminster, CO 80030 (303) 427-4000 Check-in Date: Mon, Jun 9, 2003 Check-out Date: Thu, Jun 12, 2003 Number Of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Price per night: $36.00 Subtotal: $108.00 Total Taxes and Booking Fees: $21.95 Total: $129.95
  21. You are right about checking in late ... I was considered a "no-show" by the hotel and arrived at 6:00am on the morning of my last night booked. The 'desker' wasn't sure how to check me in so he called the Radisson which is attached and jointly owned and they showed him how to over-ride the system to check me in. At first, he wanted me to wait around for an hour to wait for someone of authority to figure it out BUT I persisted on him doing something. From his knowledge, the hotel can not bill priceline for a no-show but he really had no clue and just quit working at the Holiday Inn. My stay dates should have been posted as May 31 - June 3. Right now, I am at the Hilton Garden Inn in Edison, NJ. I will post some comments under that post on the board.
  22. I stayed here for the last night of the reservation and the hotel amazed me. The rooms are straight out of the 60's with all the colors clashing .... no bedskirts revealing an aged mattress. BUT on a positive note, the room has a lot of character to make up for its lack of class .... huge windows, huge room which was not square (angled in the oddest ways), well lit sink area which is separate from the bathroom. The bathroom itself has a huge two-person jaccuzi with 5 powerful jets. Looking back, I would definitely stay here again .... it was uniquely different. I will in the future start a review for this hotel but can not copy and paste right now from this computer.
  23. I forgot to post this but I am staying here right now. The rooms have been completely updated and they are still working on the hallways, vending rooms etc. For today, they had posted that the water would be off from 11:00am to 4:00pm ... which never happened. The lady at the front desk commented that they had also posted this the day before but the planned work has not been started. I also need to mention that they have not changed the toilet or bath tubs which still have stains, rust etc.
  24. This was my first time actually purchasing on hotwire ... I am amazed that PL stumped me bidding for this. BUT Expedia and other sites showed that Monday was not available at this hotel so I am at least appreciative for Hotwire... Total was $129.95 which inlcuded $21.95 of taxes and fees. I bid PL up to $40 3* and up to $85 4* and got rejected!!! PL has been acting really funny the last couple of days .... it takes up to 20 minutes to get a response. Also, my friend needed air for this trip and I bid pretty high using savings barn (link is no linger available here at BB??) to get the $10 bonus ... I even bid the same as the fare offered by lowestfare.com (PL's other site) because she was totally flexible and was still rejected. I ended up booking directly on ATA.com.
  25. The hotel itself and common areas are really nice with rooms overlooking the inner-coutyard ... fountains and well-kept grounds. The rooms are very simple/basic small and nothing exceptional. There is free highspeed internet in the rooms and there is a refundable charge of $15.95 for the cable if you forget to bring one.
