  2. Well, it all worked out and I only had to pay $36 for two of the nights... The 'name change' worked out on getting the last few bids.
  3. I had to change the name on the bid as PL decided not to let me bid for another room "for my protection"...??? Bid through savingsbarn... Your Offer Price: $29.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $58.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $6.44 (US dollars) Total Charges: $64.44 (US dollars)
  4. Whoa ... this is new??? For your protection and security: Our records indicate that you already have two reservations for the same requested itinerary. For your protection and security, this is the maximum number of reservations that priceline will allow for the same itinerary. Enjoy your stay! I will now have to change name...
  5. Bid through savingsbarn... Your Offer Price: $36.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $144.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $8.60 (US dollars) Total Charges: $152.60 (US dollars)
  6. Bid through savingsbarn... Your Offer Price: $29.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $145.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $8.62 (US dollars) Total Charges: $153.62 (US dollars)
  7. I need two more rooms Aug 24th to Sept 6th and Aug 28 to Sept 2.... I have bid and failed for the last week up to $35. I am splitting up my bids to SAVE and get more rooms at this hotel for my friend's wedding. For all the dates, I just got a counter-offer to add $8 to my $31 bid. Using Hotwire to check prices for various date combinations, I have been able to narrow down on the specific dates which are making my PL bids fail, Hotwire results show two of my middle days (long weekend) as the ones requiring more money!!! Plus, I must have 8 rooms already booked just for the night of Sunday, Aug 31st. Your Offer Price: $29.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 6 Subtotal: $174.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $9.34 (US dollars) Total Charges: $183.34 (US dollars)
  8. I got that email too for my Sommerset, NJ reservation coming up ... I wonder why they only sent this for that particular booking??? I actually got one of these many months ago too ... so, there must be an exceptional circumstance to these particular reservations...???
  9. The Crowne Plaza is not accepting my bid for another room for Aug 24th to Sept 6th. I noticed too that on Hotwire ... the 3* which was priced $35 has gone up to $40. I might just give up my own room which I have from the 25th to 3rd .. and just bid for the other nights. I got my room for *6+10*. We have some extra rooms at the Holiday Inn or I could/should live at home if I can break out of my staying in hotels habit. I will be at the wedding ... I am a best man/chauffeur/etc etc etc.
  10. Which of the Islands were you cruising to Bill .... which ship??? Which company do you find best for booking cruises...???
  11. Got this for my best friend's wedding ... I had bugged him to plan his hotel needs when the bonuses were around but he couldn't get confirmation from guests .... this cost him large. He needs one more room which I am trying for now. Bid this through savingsbarn... Your Offer Price: $29.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 14 Subtotal: $812.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $25.30 (US dollars) Total Charges: $837.30 (US dollars) Bidding history .... I worked my way up from $23 and got a counteroffer at $25 to add $6. I continued with all the free rebids and got it at $29 Incredible how cheap the taxes and fees are for a total of 28 nights .... $25.30!!! Toronto still has it's tax-free hotels because of SARS.
  12. Zbenye I just google searched it and will check it out. LIBRARY II RESTAURANT & LOUNGE 306 Route 73 Kirkwood (856) 424-0198 I am here for 5 nights... I read in the paper today that Chick's Deli in Cherry hill ... hidden away in an alley behind route 70 and Virginia Ave. won for the best Philly steaks and for the first time beat out all the in-Philly places. I am definitely going to try that one too. My normal place for steaks is Longhorn's but that is just because a steak and salad is only $12.99.
  13. I am at the Hilton Cherry Hill, NJ (next to Philly) and they still have not gotten around to offering high speed. The rooms have been renovated beautifully though .... brand spanking new! I finally caved in and signed up for AOL's free 45 day trial dial-up service. I have not 'dialed up' since 2001 but all my hotels for the rest of the summer have no high-speed access. Here, I have to sign off every 29 minutes as the hotel charges $0.85 for the first 30 minutes and than $0.10 for each additional minute. AOL offers 1-800 service but they charge a $6/hour premium for it. I also looked into Starbuck's hot spots service thanks to posts on this board (which offers a 9.95 daily rate or $6.00 per hour pay as you go but I need night-time access to work!!! Funny, my aol free trial is supposed to have the "no pop-ups" and I just got one!!!
  14. I have read many New Years postings for last year and this year and everyone always says they can't believe they have the hotel for 'that' price. Myself, I scored Montreal 2002-2003 at a normal rate ($32). I honestly suggest starting at $49 which is the sometimes weekend price for the Hyatt-NMA ... than jump to $65 or $70 which wins most other NMA hotels. You may be surprised too....!!!
  15. My friends just got this .... on her fourth rebid starting at $33 for 2.5* and that starting over at 3* bids of $38, $41 and finally $44. At $38, she got a counter-offer to add $11. They were happy to get this hotel as I am staying there Aug 6-8 and they are joining me there. I went to the hotel yesterday (I was next door at the Amerisuites) to request 2 beds and a great view and she gladly smiled and sad no problem. Taxes and fees were crazy on this one ... total came to $55.81. NJ has a 6% and I am positive that before, the fees and taxes used to come up at around $6. Even our first bid of $33 had $10 in T&F's.
  16. Well, I really goofed this one up... was bidding for my best friends who are coming up to visit from Toronto.... I used a timely bonus offer I just got from PL-US and my first bid of $22+10 was rejected. My second bid, I put in "$35" instead of "$25" and of course got it .... from the minute I 'clicked' I realized the mistake .... and than hoped they might at least get the Embassy Suites which requires a few more dollars making the dud bid worth it. No such luck. I guess, they still would have paid this much had I not gotten the bonus money!!! Your Offer Price: $35.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $140.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $16.90 Total Charges: $156.90
  17. Columbia is 30 minutes from Baltimore and 45 minutes to DC. You are in for a treat if you get this hotel... It backs onto a a beautiful lake with plenty of walking trails, docks, fountains, restaurants, etc... The hotel is less than half a mile from the Columbia Town Center which is the largest mall in Maryland. Inside, the large lobby features a 11-story atruim . Try and request a lake-view room in the new tower ... the staff are very friendly with taking requests. The rooms are slightly old-fashioned but nice and they have a 'sample bed' in the lobby giving you a taste of Sheraton's new brand-wide beds. Bathrooms are small and needy of updating but at least are extremely well lit. Internet is $9.95 daily for wired high-speed as well as wireless lobby and conf. rooms (Wayport is the service provider). The lobby features a business center with dial-up service at 15 cents per minute ($4 min charge). They have their own "Waterside Restaurant" (amazing views) and a piano bar. I did not however check out the pool/fitness area. Lots of free parking in two covered garages. I got this for $30 but I have seen bids as low as $25 .... the Columbia Hilton also comes up which is a highway-side hotel so hope for this Sheraton.
  18. I bid this for a friend of a friend ... (after enjoying their Seattle hotels they wanted their own PL account so they can bid in the future). WillTravel (our resident Better Bidding Victoria expert)... I was thinking of you while bidding this one. I was mainly wondering if I should chance going for the Emress which has been popping up for a mere $60 but usually gives out small rooms and this person is traveling with a 1 and 5 year old. I couldn't chance it and went 3* ... if rejected, I would have doubled back using a free re-bid and bid 4* $60. I got the Coast on my first bid. Victoria 146 Kingston Street Victoria, British Columbia V8V 1V4 250-360-1211 Your Offer Price: $58.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $58.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $12.24 (US dollars) Total Charges: $70.24 (US dollars) Expedia has a "Exclusive Limited Time Offer" for the Coast at $179 CAD and lists the Empress for $242. Exedia also lists the Coast as a 4* and Empress remarkably at 5*.
  19. I have many Amerisuites stays this summer and not one has high-speed wired or wireless. Last weekend, I was given one of their "taking care of business" suites and I mean, how can I take care of business without the net??? I am guessing that the third-party service providers like Wayport pick up some of the installation costs...???
  20. Well, thanks everyone for your help ... I just made the final booking for Venice through Expedia (linked from here). I was going to book the 4* Laguna in Mestre for $131 total per night when I saw an odd :) 3-night Expedia Special Rate for the 4* Boscolo Hotel Bellini right in Venice. They had three price categories: Standard Double sleeps 3 ... $174.31 ... special price ... $156.88 Double Superior sleeps 2 ... $192.42 ... special price ... $173.18 Double DeLuxe sleeps 2 ... $219.59 ... special price ... $219.59 (BUT last night free) avg. price $146.40 Only, the last one had the free third night and for the best of the room choices too!!! I triple checked many other sites and the best prices were $200+++ so, I jumped on it. I also checked the reviews and they were all outstanding on trip advisor!!! Boscolo Hotel Bellini website: http://www.bellini.boscolohotels.com/venbe...ommodation.html Taxes and fees were $19.03 PER NIGHT which in comparison to Priceline is pretty high but still great for this deal. Total for three nights ... $496.26 I had also tried more bids on PL ... $165 for a 5* and up to $135 for a 4*. I even got rejected at $100 for a 4* in the Mestre zone where I thought I would get the Holiday Inn. I also bid on PL/HK and PL/UK in case they had different availability but they were all rejected.
  21. The friend who I booked this for has 28 Subway franchises in Chicago so he doesn't do much traveling ... in fact, his wife dragged him 'kicking and screaming' just to go on this trip.
  22. Damn, so thats what is take to get "management control" over a hotel chain ... you need to be a Prince with $120 million.
  23. Yes, this was in the "Ottawa" zone. In her case ... stealing the bathrobes, thats just how the rich get even richer.
  24. Bidding history... I first bid $45, $55, and kept getting lowestfare.com's counter-offers. At $60, I got a counter offer saying that the lowest price hotel meeting my requirements was $78 ... I always get weird responses bidding Atlantic City. I than changed the dates and bid week-days instead ... and I got the same counter for $78 ... odd as Weekends are usually much more. So, I went back and bid $65 for the weekend and got the Sheraton.
  25. Bid this for a friend ... first bid $40 hoping for the Sheraton (a lower bid might have won the Radisson which I was hoping to avoid) and got a counter-offer to add $12. I figured for sure that this could now win the Crowne Plaza or Embassy Suites. I than bid $41, and won at $45 ... of course, it turned out to be the Radisson anyway. I also had dropped down to 2.5* and bid $33 for the Amerisuites before going on with 3*'s but that was rejected. Meadowlands - East Rutherford 350 Route 3 West Secaucus, New Jersey 07094 201-863-8700 Your Offer Price: $45.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $135.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $19.39 Total Charges: $154.39
