I won on priceline the World Centre Hotel a 3.5* for $150 a night ($225 on company website) for May 14-May 17th. So I think you can probably get this hotel for $140ish.

What hotel did you get from Hotwire for $277?

I bid on 3 - 4* hotels for May 13-17 2012. Started with $120 and only SOHO and Central Park area. Expanded to two more areas and up by $5. Went up to $150 and up to all possible areas exluding areas off the island of Manhattan. I think i could have done better than $150 as the hotels website books this hotel for $250. So i saved $100/night. Was looking for better. Possibly a Westin or W for $150/night whereas it would be more in the $350-$450 range a night hotel.
