Using Priceline we go a full-size car from Hertz for $12/day (9 days). Priceline offered it at that price after booking the hotel. Hertz's full size cars say they are Taurus's (WHICH I HATE), does anyone know if they would grant upgrades or even downgrades? I just really do not want the Taurus. (A friend was killed in a rented Taurus after malfunctions that are recalled on that car).

Hi mini__me We stayed at the Holiday Inn SoBe last year & will be there again this year. Request a garden room @ check in. They are much nicer. The hotel is nothing fancy, but great for this priceline prices. The pool area is simple, yet nice. Best of all is they have free parking (if you have a rental car) ($20/day value), free beach chairs & umbrellas on the beach ($20/day value). It's a few block walk to everything else in SoBe, but not too bad. There are lots of taxi's if you find yourself quite a ways away & don't want to walk back. There is an Echerds drug store attached to the hotel, a liquor store 1 block north, Subway sandwaich shop across the street, Outback steakhouse attached to the hotel. Have fun.

I actually don't remember what star rating (I book back in March) but I believe it was 3*. First I tried $60 (which is what we paid last year) & they didn't grant it, so I waited the 72 hours & tried again for $65 & got it. I wasn't changing the zone out of South Beach becuase I really wanted the Holiday Inn, which we were in last year from Priceline. I only use pricline. 2001 @ Wyndham Miami Beach $60 2003 @ Double Tree Virginia Beach $60 2004 @ Holiday Inn South Beach $60 2005 @ Holiday Inn South Beach $65 LOVED all of the hotels.

I've gone to Miami a using pricline 3 times & never got under $60. 1st time @ the Wyndham Miami Beach in 2001 for $60 2nd time @ Holiday Inn South Beach last July for $60 This year (July 2-10) @ Holiday Inn South Beach for $65. I liked the Holiday Inn the beach because they offer free parking (The only hotel to offer that on Miami Beach). @ the Wyndham we had to pay an extra $20 a day to park & then there was Valet, so we had to tip each time we got the car. The Holiday Inn you just go get your car out the garage yourself. 15 more days & I'll be there, CAN'T WAIT. :))

Using Priceline I got 2 rooms in the Holiday Inn South Beach for $65 night/each for July 2-10. That hotel offers free parking for your car & also free beach chairs & umbrellas. We stayed at that same place last year for $60 night & Loved it. I don't even took a 1/2 hour to get to the airport. (That just be us nutty NY drivers, though)
