  1. Hey Quaching, I have been looking for this same weekend/star rating. The PRICELINE EXPRESS "unlocked" rates pop up for me every once in a while for the Venetian at $147/night on priceline ($627.69 after taxes/fees/resort fee). Definitely don't bid on 5* anymore though for North Strip....you'll get the Trump and be irate! HOTWIRE currently has two 5* North Strip Casino hotels available to me: - $143/nt@95% recommended = $606.65 total (but no tax added to the resort fee of 29/night...so add a few bucks) FULL AMENITIES: Free parking, Free Internet, Suite, Resort, Casino, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower - $152/nt@90% recommended = .$648.69 total (but no tax added to the resort fee of 32/night...so add a few bucks) FULL AMENITIES: Free parking, Free Internet, Resort, Suite, Casino, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower As Aaron said above, these are probably the Venetian and Palazzo (though I am going out on a limb by saying the 95% I see is likely the Palazzo as the $152 room lists "Laundry" which seems to be tied to the Venetian). Furthermore, you can likely rule out the Wynn and Encore because there are two additional 5* north strip listings for $228 and $226 presently that will undoubtedly be those two hotels. For what it's worth, the PRICELINE EXPRESS Unlocked deal for the Venetian was $115/nt for these travel dates a month ago when I started looking but I didn't bite (trip wasn't 100% at that time)...live and learn! Keep me/us posted if you do book and I will do the same. Remember to use the links in Thereuare or Aaron's signature though to help support the site! Happy hunting
  2. I am guessing this is the Santa Barbara Beach and golf resort...at least that is what I am hoping ( looking to book a strip as well). Let me know if you book/get it!
  3. Thank you very much for your post. I was wondering what the 4.5* was and now I know! Forum helps again :D What is interesting is that the Hyatt is still listed as a 4-star when looking at the 'vacations' listings.
  4. Full amenities list: Amenities Free Parking Free Internet Suite Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Kitchenette In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Handicapped parking
  5. I chose to book via PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals over HOTWIRE because the rates for Silverthrone - Frisco - Dillon were lower for this one-night stay. The 2-star @ $99 was guest rated 8.0. The total = 117.31 after tax. The hotel was Quality Inn & Suites Summit County (Express Deal). The Quality Inn & Suites website-listed price was $154.46 for the same night...indicating some decent savings ($37.15) off of the best available rate. I hope this helps someone possibly looking for a similar booking!
  6. First on board to attempt a 3-star in Beaver Creek: took one for the team :P With the amenities including: - free parking - suite - indoor pool(s) - fitness center - kitchenette I was expecting the Sheraton Mountain Vista Villas (also listed as 3-star on hotwire rankings but not for the 'hotwire hot rate' on this site). I was disheartened to see Christie Lodge since the standard room rate on hotwire = $333 (inc tax) for my 2 night stay and I paid just under $300 (only a 10% savings). SUGGESTION: The same trip could have been booked at the lower amenity Comfort Inn Beaver Creek 2.5-star for $211 (inc tax) for 2 nights vs. the standard room rate of $322 (around a 30% savings). The Comfort Inn does have a nice, free continental breakfast with eggs, sausages, waffles, yogurt, juices, cereal, fruit, etc. for those interested. Oh well, live and learn! I have yet to stay at Christie but from the pictures it doesn't appear to be all that the Sheraton is (I have stayed at the Sheraton). Here's to hoping things are better than expected! Either way, I hope this information helps some others who might be looking at the same hotwire hotel (at least now you can compare Christie to another you're investigating). ***Edit: I just looked at the Christie website directly: Rooms were going for $312.47 so this equates to under a 5% savings)...it's still something but certainly the lowest Hotwire discount I have ever received.
  7. My apologies. I actually used HOTWIRE but not the "hot rates" method. I found a better deal available via the "more hotels" tab for Harrah's. I locked in a rate of $81/night (the "hot rate" was $91) and the room was reserved but I did not have to pay instantly. I still do not know if Harrah's is the only 4* in South Lake Tahoe or if Harvey's has joined the Hotwire list though so I apologize for not being able to help there. I do still see both Harvey's and Harrah's listed as 4* on the "more hotels" tab for Hotwire though so I suspect that they are both available in the 4* "hot rate".
  8. I was able to get a rate of $67/night at the 2.5* Comfort Inn in Avon, CO (near Beaver Creek and Vail). Travel dates: 1/20~1/23/2012 (Friday~Monday) This is a great deal for this area (I know from many past trips). Your other options at this price/star rating would be in Silverthorne, CO (the LaQuinta was running about this rate on hotwire.com a couple of weeks ago) but that is 30 miles from Vail, 40 from Beaver vs. the Comfort Inn which is only 8 mi from Vail, 1 from Beaver. I also got this rate earlier in the month. Thank you BetterBidding for hotel guidance and information over the years! By the way, if you don't get what you want on the first bid, add "Vail" (prices are higher there anyway), if you still don't get it, add "Keystone" (there are no 2.5* in Keystone). Good luck!
  9. I was able to get a rate of $71/night at the 2.5* Comfort Inn in Avon, CO (near Beaver Creek and Vail). This is a great deal for this area (I know from many past trips). I will be posting another as well because I got this same hotel for later in January even cheaper!
  10. You can lock/delete this tread, I took care of it. Thanks!
  11. Links clicked. Dates: 2/2/12~2/7/12 Rates just went up significantly (or they sold out of the Harvey's/Harrah's locations). My fear was expecting Harrah's and getting stuck at Harvey's.
  12. I'm looking for some guidance here. I see in the Hotwire hotel list for South Lake Tahoe, NV the only 4* with casino listed is Harrah's. I also noticed that others have received Harrah's for their 4* bids earlier in the year. Upon looking at the Hotwire site directly I see that both Harrah's AND Harvey's are listed in the "more hotels" section as 4*. I was hoping that someone could confirm a recent bid getting Harrah's for the Jan/Feb/March time frame. Thank you in advance for all of your help - great site - great community involvement!
  13. Check out HOTWIRE right now....5* north-strip rooms went from non-existent to CHEAP (4.5* north strip was up to $460/night 5 days ago) Location: Las Vegas Strip - North Star rating: 5-star Check-in date: Fri, Sep 23 Check-out date: Sun, Sep 25 Amenities: See all amenities Hotel Rate per night: $187.00 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $49.14 Subtotal: $423.14 Trip total: $423.14
  14. I was able to lock in a rate of $156 near the Palazzo (yes, JUST off-strip at the Trump) for the dates you need. Check out my post here: Trump Thread Having never been to Vegas the Venetian rooms are amazing (Palazzo is the way to go though, they just "feel" newer: tip the checkin person $20 for an "upgrade" to the Palazzo tower if you get a PRICELINE rate at the Venetian: it's worth it for the newer feel). Anyway, one other option (only if you or someone you are staying with plays a LOT of poker) would be to get the Poker Room Rate at the Venetian. They upped the requirement now but you can get a room "debited" (refunded) to you at a rate of $179 weekends, $129 weeknights if you play 6 hours of poker/day. It sounds like a lot but you get to use lengthy sessions toward multiple days. By this I mean: If you go on a crazy bender and play for 18 straight hours (yes, I have done this many times) you can count that as 3 6-hour periods and essentially be "done" for a 3-day trip. Of course, if you don't plan to play this much (being that it is your bday) then you may not wish to attempt the discounted rate. Call the poker room for details. Best of luck on your trip and have a great time!!
  15. Did I necessarily want the Trump this weekend when I started bidding? Not really. I thought I would toss in some information for those looking to bid the weekend of 9/23/11 - 9/26/11 (apparently very expensive this weekend compared to surrounding weekends FYI). I had been bidding multiple star ratings in multiple locations for about a week before getting restless and trying for the Trump. 5-star north strip bids REJECTED: $105~$170/NIGHT 5-star south strip bids REJECTED: $105~$160/NIGHT 4-star north strip bids REJECTED: $90~$140/NIGHT I hope this information helps those of you who are looking to visit the weekend of 9/23~9/26....good luck bidding! I was planning for the Venetian but multiple reports indicated 5* north strip (Venetian, Palazzo, Wynn) were still coming up short at $220 bids. Since I have stayed in each of those resorts in the past, the lure of an extra $230 to put on the tables or a nice dinner vs. the hotel room was appealing enough to sample the Trump. As the only "5-star condo" in the north-strip area I knew exactly what I was going after. Hotwire's rate was $168/night ($578 total) and I was able to get $156/night on priceline ($540 total). There is still the $20/day resort charge to be added onto this as well using either Hotwire or Priceline (published website price is $717 + 60 resort fee for comparison). For those looking to hit up Vegas this weekend please note that it is EXTREMELY expensive in relation to other weekends in the following few weeks. Some posts have indicated multiple "conferences" in town 9/23-9/25 so perhaps that is why. Regardless, if you can postpone your trip a month you can likely get the Venetian/Palazzo for $130/night Fri~Sun/Mon. Remember: generally a room is worth the money if you plan to spend a lot of time there...and in Vegas that is nearly always less time than expected. So, if you are looking for a very nice room, don't "have" to be on the strip, and are comfortable being 5 min by foot from the Wynn casino or 10 minutes from the Palazzo then give this bid a shot! Best of luck to all bidders.
